Damnit better team isnt moving on. Sharks are the luckiest team. Datsyuk is still the best player in the world.
that stuff you're smoking is good. Lucky my ass. Detroit should have never seen Game 6. They scored 2 goals with too many men on the ice in Game 6. Sharks are better b/c they are deeper.
What a competitive series, I felt sick when Datsyuk scored that amazing back-hand to pull them within one goal! Obviously it helped us that they were missing Cleary, Bertuzzi and Franzen down the stretch, but I"ll take it. Oh, and Jeremy Roenick can go to hell!
And my God, is Datsyuk amazing or what?! Incredible backhand, definitely one of the sickest, most elegant shots I've seen. He's something else.
Absolutely. Can someone please explain how Crosby is the better player? Oh, Datsyuk never leads the league in scoring so he can't be the best in the world.
I wouldn't say that either team was lucky. Both teams were obviously very close in terms of talent, as evidenced that it was a seven game series and all but one (if memory serves) was a one goal game, with at least two going to OT.
Yeah those don't count so in effect, every single game was a one goal game. I think the difference was that Detroit broke down physically during the series. Not only losing guys like Cleary, Bertuzzi, Franzen at points during the series, but Datsyuk not actually playing at 100% (that is scary), Zetterberg was hurt, and it piled up. Combine that with the Sharks playing well and Joe Thronton really showing up in the series, was the difference. Oh, and Antii Niemi was a huge difference maker too. Huge upgrade over Evgeni Nabokov.
RC, I noticed down in the NHL forum that you picked Vancouver in 6 over SJ. What do you think gives them the edge over us?
Probably the guy who knows the most about Russian hockey writing in the English language, thinks Radulov might be coming back to the NHL. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/pu...es-will-send-Alex-Radulov-back?urn=nhl-wp4812
1. Ryan Kesler. Dude is on a mission. He dominated the Predators and made the probable Norris trophy winner his bitch. However, the question mark here is that he dominated the Predators going up against Mike Fisher, but when playing Chicago, he was pitted in a canceled out battle with Jonathan Toews. I think Toews is much better than Thornton, but if Thornton steps up he could cancel out Kesler. I don't think he will be able to cancel out Kesler, plus if he's trying to do that, he won't be able to score and then it comes down to .... 2. The Sedins. How to put this. The Sedins have been bad. They have been run over defensively and haven't scored. Now I look at the past two series. I see Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Dave Bolland and then Shea Weber, Ryan Suter. What do I see there, four of the best defensemen in the world and one of the best shutdown centers. Now the Sharks have Dan Boyle and Douglas Murray, who are good, but I'm not sure they are as good as the above two pairs. So can the Sedins finally break out? I'm guessing yes, but honestly, I'm not completely confident about it. If the Sedins finally start to play like the Sedins, and Kesler continues his one man wrecking mission, the Sharks will be in trouble.
Haha, funny we were just talking about him the other day. I had no idea Salavat was in such bad financial shape, by the way. PS: Maybe Jiri Hudler should go back to the KHL, because he just hasn't been very good this season. The only time he scored at all during the regular season was on the PP, and when Babcock put him on Datsyuk's line. But otherwise, he's just not big enough or fast enough at even strength to be a real asset.
SJ got outplayed every game except for 3 and 7. Detroit had all of their star players injured at one point in the series. Check the fandom at the door and recognize Detroit is the better team SJ just faced them at the best possible time due to injuries.
SJ outplayed Detroit in Games 2, 5, and 7. Detroit outplayed SJ in games 3 and 6. Game 1 was pretty even. Not sure which games you were watching. SJ also took 4/5 regular season games, when Detroit was all healthy. I realize I'm bias, but I hate the word lucky. Sharks were the 2nd best team in NHL this season. They probably had the most guys with 20+ points. Is Detroit a better team? No. Do they have better individual players, sure. Franzen is not the same guy he was the year before, so him being injured is not a big deal. Losing Bertuzzi for 2 periods and Cleary for 1 is really not the same as losing our leading points scorer, Clowe, for entire game 6.
