The GOP has a failure thread, and Barack Obama has a failure thread, all deserved of course, but it seems the rest of the Democratic Party isn't covered. Only seems fair that their failure is documented as well.

Let's start off with a doozy.

Yes, Charles Schumer wants to revoke a constitutional right not based on a conviction, but based simply on an arrest. So much until innocent until proven guilty.

Some of you don't like when I use harsh language for people who want to ruin people's lives, so I won't, but this would be a horrible, horrible, law.

"A Florida newspaper reporter claims Biden’s staffers placed him in a storage closet last week to keep him from chatting up guests during a high-priced fundraiser.

Scott Powers, a veteran political reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, was the lone newsman assigned to cover the $500-a-head bash for Sen. Bill Nelson at the home of developer and Democratic bigwig Alan Ginsburg on Wednesday.

But when he showed up at the posh Winter Park mansion, a "low level" staffer hustled him into a storage closet and stood guard outside the door, Powers told The Drudge Report."

I have no real comment here... but I'm picturing him getting out of the limo and walking up the steps... cameras are waiting down the hall... says hi to a couple staffers... one staffer whispers urgently to another...

"His fly is open... DO SOMETHING!"

Or something equally embarrassing. Maybe wearing a U of F tie to a Florida State Alumni dinner. Who knows?

Sponsored by New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer and introduced earlier this month, the expanded background checks bill includes a “clarification of the definition of drug abusers and drug addicts who are prohibited from possessing firearms.” Under Schumer’s bill, the definition of a “drug abuser” would include anyone with “an arrest for the use or possession of a controlled substance within the past 5 years.”

UFFFF lucky me, I would be out of the 5 year window, good stuff.

They are trying to keep guns from minorities, what up with that is Schumer becoming the old southern Democratic Party?

I am sure the NRA and the lawyer association (shit is it NACP?) will get on this and will not pass.

So yes fail 2 for Chuck (not getting the leader of senate was #1)

Wanna take bets on whether or not Drudge got a woody when a reporter called him to tell him he was in the closet? :D

Looks like Biden's staff and Ginsburg himself called the reporter to apologize. The story says that reporters are often kept in holding rooms at a private event like this until the VP speaks but that it is unusual to keep someone in a storage closet.

Of course, this guy's storage closet is probably bigger and nicer than my living room, so it's probably all relative. ;)

One of the most insulting things I have seen (and its from both parties) are the "spin rooms" following a debate where they actually hold up signs for the media to come over and soak in all the talking points.

Agreed, but this is an inevitable consequence of the first past the post system that virtually the entire country uses.

The parties should just hire Don King and Bob Arum to represent them.

I'd expand Schumer's bill to prohibit firearm ownership from those who did not graduate high school, as well as those who did graduate high school.

Alright I'm clearly going to be The Guardian of this thread, the worse the alleged offense the more I will approve of the policy. Just need to work on my Englishisms. Wicked. Brilliant. Labour. Tyre. Zed-bra.

Holy crap. That was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Crimen y Castigo again.

It's a sad state of affairs when I am sincere in saying that we NEED Triumph to hold these people accountable for their spin.

I have looked so hard for a video clip of Triumph arguing with Ron Silver at the pundits roundtable. It might have been that same night. It was definitely at a 2004 debate.

Couldn't find the video clip, but I found the transcript. It's from a now-defunct late-night MSNBC show called After Hours, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Ron Reagan.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5918486/ns/msnbc_tv-about_msnbc_tv/

The section with Ron Silver and Triumph arguing is about half-way through the transcript.

I think racism counts as failure:

An elected representative in Congress refuses to criticize the President because of the color of his skin. Nice.

    Only 16 posts?

This is more like the P&CE failure thread.

I think you're generally reasonable, but your tendency to slap inflammatory labels works against you and the discourse here.

Not wanting to piss off key constituents is a perfectly normal, albeit chickenshit, motivation for holding your tongue. It's no different from Reagan's 11th Commandment about not speaking ill of fellow party members. Even if you could call it racism, and I totally see the rhetorical gymnastics it takes to get there, it doesn't rise anywhere near the level that President Obama gets from elsewhere.

Sure, it's a FAIL, I guess, but one of realpolitik, not bigotry.

This is from an email that’s been going around for some time, but never stops being thought-provoking. OR TRUE.

What is the difference between slaves on plantations and blacks who blindly vote for Democrats?

What does a slave-owner have to provide, free, for his slaves?
    1. Free Housing.
    2. Free Food.
    3. Free Healthcare
    4. A menial education sufficient to the task he requires the slave to perform.

What is the one thing a slave owner required of his slaves?
    1. Unquestioning Loyalty.

What do the democrats always promise to provide, free, to blacks?
    1. Free Housing.
    2. Free Food.
    3. Free healthcare
    4. A free menial education, sufficient to get them to the voting booth.

What is the one thing Democrats require of their constituents?
    1. Unquestioning Loyalty.

The only question black democrats have to ask themselves is:

    Who’s your master now?

The Democrat Party survives because it keeps blacks poor and dependent on Democrat hand-outs to survive.

Democrats do something similar with gays: they keep us in check by scaring gays into believing Republicans are evil and want to kill us, so the only protection we have is to vote Democrat, Democrat, Democrat.

Democrats keep Hispanics under control by pushing Spanish as much as possible, so Hispanics never learn English and don’t progress as much in society.

Women are kept in line by Democrats though cultural wedge issues like abortion, where, once again, people are convinced to vote against their own economic best interests because Democrats create boogeymen to scare them into believing conservatives are evil and want to harm them or take away their rights.

If even one of the groups above could be reasoned with, and would actually see what the Democrat Party does to them, the fragile identity-bloc coalition that makes up the Democrat Party would collapse on itself.

If you blindly vote Democrat, year after year, without ever asking what you REALLY get out of it, you are either a slave or a damn fool.

this is a small effort to get some life into this Dem failure thread ;)

The effort is appreciated, but this probably belongs in the intellectual honesty failure thread. Why do conservatives put so much faith in emails forwarded by crazy uncles?

Marek: that was undoubtedly the most sexist, racist and most ign'antist shit you've ever posted.

    Horseshit.

The US is the 2nd largest Spanish speaking nation on the planet not b/c of the Dems but b/c half this country belonged to Spain then Mexico and there's thousands of years of history of trade and migration across a modern construct that we call a border. That and the fact that industrialization in Mexico happened much slower, so the transition from rural/agro economy to urban service meant that cities in the SW US + Chicago pulled cheap labor northward. And don't forget that the history of the US is built around looking for dirrrrrrt cheap labor to exploit.

Linguistically, the reason why Spanish is so prevalent is that YOU SIMPLY HAVE A SHITLOAD OF SPANISH SPEAKERS IN A CONCENTRATED AREA. It's really that simple. It has nothing to do w/ the political structure or any party.

Any program that offers that does so to ppl regardless of color, gender, religion, etc.

And the Dems don't "promise" any that to Blacks.

I wish. We're the only developed nation w/o it. It's a basic human right. Social class should never dictate whether or not one has access to health care.

Uh... Then why do Blacks have a low voter turn-out?

Why do left-wing ppl around the globe have a lower voter turn-out?

In short, it has nothing to do w/ the left wing political party of the US. But nice try. I'm sure you get a ton of "Like like like!!!111!!!" on facebook, and I'm sure you drop any friends that challenge this shit for the shit that it is.

But that doesn't make it any more "truthful".

Of course, you can take a quick gander at voter turn-out and verify that you're full of shit. But you won't.

Ronald Reagan refused to say the word AIDS until ... what... 1987? How many of your ppl died needlessly b/c of his indifference?

How many ppl have had to serve in the military while lying b/c the GOP couldn't just them ppl have sex w/ another consenting adult?

The GOP ain't no Boogiy Man for Teh Gheys. They're a serial killer hunting for their next prey.

Women throughout the globe tend to vote further left than men.

And they possibly couldn't know what's best for their interests.

    Look who's the fool.

FYP. You really put it in the wrong thread.
