Clark leaves. Jays bring in proven winner and elite HC Elmar Bolowich. Jays keep Finlay, Acoff, Choco Gomez and Tyler Polak out of the professional ranks. Jays have already had their top two recruits in Eric Miller (US-U18 member) and Zach Ballard on campus for spring soccer.
Creighton bringing in Alex Bolowich, Elmar's son, for the new season. Alex was a RS-Fr Goalkeeper for FIU last year.
I did find it funny. Holt (Sr.), Hoie(Sr.), Reeves(Tr-Fr.), Gal(Fr.) and now Bolowich(Tr-Fr.). I was really excited to see Reeves and Gal battle it out after Holt left, now well the competetion just got a little more awkward. Bolowich did say yesterday in an interview he was still searching for a GK coach.
It is always a little weird when the coach has a kid on the team. Out here in the west the LMU coach has two kids on the roster. At Univ of San Diego the coach has one. Reminds you of the AYSO days. Must be a little tough on the kids and I'm sure the dad/coach hopes the player is a good one so he can justify playing him. At least he didn't name the kid Elmar.
Spring (?? it snowed 3-4 inches last night in Omaha ??) games start tomorrow. Look for a very experienced Jays line-up to fine-tune things on saturday before SLU comes to town in late April. [LINEUP-4-4-2]W.Browne, Finlay, Acoff, Gomez, Jordan, Clark, Polak, J.Brown, Duran, Peters, Holt[/LINEUP-4-4-2] Hoping to see lots of true freshman, Eric Miller and Zach Ballard who have been on campus this semester. Also it will be interesting to see if Holt makes way for coaches on, Alex or transfer from IU and local product Taylor Reeves.
ONLY FOR THOSE IN OMAHA!!!: Since tomorrow's early game against Bellevue is cancelled, but the 5 PM game VS Denver is STILL ON, the group will meet The Old Mattress Factory Omaha @ 3:30 for our pre-game drink / food & then the first 2011 MARCH TO THE MATCH! This will give us time to sign up all the new members who have emailed that they would like to join & also take care of all the renewals too! See you at 3:30! GO JAYS!!!
As you said Jays win 3-2. They scored first and then conceded two in the span of 5 minutes. The weather was rough, windy/snowing. Not more than 100 people there. Jays start game off in 4-1-4-1. --------Holt---- E.Miller-Peters-Duran-Polak -----Jordan----- Acoff-Clark-Gomez-Finlay -----Ribiero I believe Finlay scored the first and Acoff got the second two. Defense looked solid despite the two goals. Miller and Polak did well in helping out in the attack. Ribiero does alot of hard work up front for the team. At times he switches back to the flank and Dion played up front alone. Kallman, and SLU transfer Jake Brown got some action in the second half. Peters and Jordan made way for the two central defenders and Duran moved into the defensive mid spot. Overall the team did well to come back from 2-1. Tough to gain form many opinions because of the weather in the first half. Very excited about this group, seem to really work well together. Coolest part of the game was when Coach Bolowich came over and thanked the 4 Creighton Kommando's for standing in the weather the entire game.
Coolest part of the game was when Coach Bolowich came over and thanked the 4 Creighton Kommando's for standing in the weather the entire game. Yes, yes it was!!
CU ties against TULSA... 2-2 Final... Tulsa scores tying goal with under 40 seconds left in the match! Creighton goals from: Kris Clark & Liam James Kelly.
CREIGHTON GOES 0-0 with Air Force and a 1-0 loss to New Mexico , wow Elmar you have a long way to go.
Last Spring was 5-0-0, this Spring 1-1-2, with 2 games yet to be played... but to be fair... Last Spring's games were still with long time Coach Bob Warming, and he had his top guys playing, and he was not giving time to everyone on the team, and trying to learn about new guys like Coach is this year...
....and Creighton was playing with Conor Doyle spearheading the attack. We are still missing that target man who holds the ball while Dion/Ethan run off.
Just like going 5-0-0 last spring didn't mean shit, this year's spring record doesn't mean shit either. In fact, given the players are on their third head coach since the spring games of a year ago, this spring's record means less than shit. Spring games are like preseason - results don't matter.
Creighton Bluejays win 3-0 over Saint Louis University last night at Morrison Stadium in Omaha, on a cold, but thankfully dry, night. First half goals from Liam Kelly, Kris Clark and Eric Miller.
More bad news on the injury front (From the Ballard family): "Zach hurt his knee Tuesday, after the trip to Denver, at practice. He has surgery scheduled for May 6th." & "He has patella dislocation. He is hoping to be back next fall. CU has lost 4 players this spring to surgery: (Dion Acoff, Jace Peters, Joe Branstetter, and Zach Ballard)"
Nice 1-0 win over NSC Minnesota Stars of the North American Soccer League today in the final spring exhibition. Ethan Finlay with a late goal for the win. Go Jays!!!
From the stands it should have 3-0 for the Jays , great display of what this team can be like this coming fall.
Is Elmar ever gonna announce the recruits? Creighton is the only program in the MVC to have not announced recruits so far this year.
Last night @ a Meet & Greet w/ Bolowich & Torres, he mentioned he had 3 transfers coming in, one from UNC, but he did not name them. Also said his son is coming in the Fall...
