If the ref keeps letting tackles like that last one go without a card, this match is going to get chippy!
Here's a link for the Telefutura feed (Spanish), if desired. CONCACAF TV wasn't working at kickoff and I haven't gone back to check again. http://www.rojadirecta.es/goto/www.psn-sportstv.com/p/canal-1.html
It's working now (I just "tuned in") but they don't show the score, and the announcer hasn't said anything. Thanks everyone.
Yeah... didn't realize this was the appropriate place for my response in the other thread. I think Monterrey is the better match-up for us
Huge Olave from old mistake from Cruz Azuls center back cost Cruz a spot in the final. I trust our two center backs being able to keep Sauze (spelling?) out. Feeling good!!
It's Monterrey vs. RSL. I'm torn about whether I like this matchup. The negative: I don't think this is as good of a matchup for RSL. The way Monterrey plays could give RSL trouble - they have the speed to hurt 3 of our 4 defenders. The positive (#1): I don't think RSL is a great matchup for Monterrey either. They seem to struggle with possession teams (like Cruz Azul, for instance. Yeah, I know Monterrey beat them on aggregate, but they didn't deserve to. That PK was crap). The positive (#2): It should be easier to fill the stands at the Riot with RSL fans. There's not as many Monterrey fans around, and the popular Mexican teams (Chivas, America, Cruz Azul) hate Monterrey and their fans won't support them in this one.
I have asked about this, and an RSL official told me that the official report only had a yellow for Javi in that match (even though the Concacaf site showed a yellow in the 90th). Also, here is the match report before last nights game:
Another positive is that Monterrey is more likely (than Cruz Azul) to take RSL lightly, think we are a fluke, in the first leg. They can argue that the first leg against Cruz Azul was a slosh-fest of rain, therefore meaningless, and the second leg was all reserves. RSL should be able to get a draw or only down 1 goal to come home. Monterrey will know, then, that RSL is quality, but they will be coming to the RioT. I like our chances against Monterrey. Wish I could make the cross country trip.
texas =/= utah. there are quite a few Azul fans in the SLC area, not as many monterrey fans. this game will sell out very quickly and you wont find a huge amount of traveling fans from far away. RSL FO needs to market the ever living hell out of this for STH's and then for RSL fans.
Then it's a good thing we're not in Texas. Texas is literally an hour's drive from Monterrey. I'm pretty familiar with local FMF support and Monterrey is a distant fourth behind Chivas, America, and Cruz Azul (in that order). I'm not saying Monterrey has zero fans in Utah, but there's far less than Cruz Azul for sure. And that's a positive for RSL in my mind.
Monterrey didn't look good today but they are very capable of defending a lead at Rio Tinto and frustrating RSL. Unlike Cruz Azul who are always committed to attack Monterrey won't give anyway away to RSL. Monterrey is a team that knows how to get results the ugly way. Should be an interesting match up. Monterrey has some of the best and loudest support in Mexico. I don't expect a goal fest like Cruz Azul vs RSL but I wouldn't be surprised if it ends 2-1. My prediction still stands, rsl vs monterrey (monterrey to win it). Should be interesting
I worry about that fast Ecuadorian midfielder for Monterrey. I guess he'll get Will playing third nut D.
Should be a very interesting matchup. That pk in the match between Azul and Monterrey was a joke. I hope we dont get a ref who is so easy to his whistle in the box (but not on the rest of the pitch...? wtf). The speed of Monterrey, as others have said, really scares me. Saprissa showed that if you can make a quick diagonal cross once you get our midfield committed to one side, you have a 1v1 or even 2v1 on the far side. This is going to be ridiculous. If you want tickets, pm me. I should be able to pull something off
Respuesta: Re: RSL in CONCACAF Champions League 2010-11 [R] Interestic fact: Victor Manuel Vucetich have never lost any final as coach (he has coached in 7 though). Also, even being a very strong and balanced squad, Monterrey isn't a team that usually wins 3-0, 4-0 or so... they don't usually kill their opponets, so that play agaisnt them. The guys I consider more dangerous of Monterrey: Nery Cardozo, this former Boca Jrs. can disappear in the match, but his touch and vision of the game is amazing, he obviously shows why he once was very good rated at Boca Juniors. Walter Ayoví, this short Ecuadorian midfielder is a versatile player, speedy, strong and with a good shot from long range. Humberto Suazo, I guess he doesn't need any introduction. Aldo De Nigris, slow and not the best finisher, but knows how to link up well, holds the ball really well and his partnership with Suazo is deadly... also his control of the ball can be superb in his day and a very good header.
Re: Respuesta: Re: RSL in CONCACAF Champions League 2010-11 [R] wasn't it Ish who said, for the longest time, that we should go after this player?
Re: Respuesta: Re: RSL in CONCACAF Champions League 2010-11 [R] We arent worried. We will crush your little midget team.
