I wonder if he wipes himself, or has someone else do it. He is sort'a big deal afterall. I know my life has been enriched by this encounter!

sadly, I know this and still used the incorrect masculine pronoun. Oh well, like a Starship Captain, don't you still call a lady mayor "sir"? ;)

Besides, I doubt such a luminary actually resides in Baltimore, he's probably referring to the mayor of Towson or something ;)

C'mon, stop paying him attention, it's becoming boring... it's just a troll, let him be.

But we know he/she is reading every word. And maybe get him/her to say something else really stupid. . . . . that takes the pressure off of others of us on these boards.

Diceson, are you feeling pressure that you need to say something really stupid? I think you may be mis-reading the signals :D

I am sorry if this has been brought up in the 320+ pages of this thread, but why isn't the current RFK site considered the ideal place to build the SSS? Why can't the stadium be built right next to RFK in the parking lot ala Citi Field? Then when the stadium is done, tear down RFK and put in the new parking lot. The fans are already used to going to that site. The site has plenty of space to build a stadium. Has this been considered or is DC United really anxious to find a new location?

I think it was in the Stadium Thread II, or III where that horse was beaten to death, then beaten some more.

It's been brought up at least 157 times in this thread, and at least 7,818 times in the 23 threads before this one. Most of the time, it's asked by someone who was too lazy to look and see if it'd been asked before. So asking, rather than googling/searching to find the answer, is a sure way to make a lot of people angry. Not trying to be mean, just explaining.

I think many of us consider it the ideal place to build a new stadium.

Citi Field is owned and operated by the Mets. DC United does not own or operate RFK or the site.

The entities that do own and operate them have no interest in putting a stadium there for DC United. DC United does not have the political clout to make them do it.

Suffice it to say that the possibility does not exist to do that unless federal statutes are changed.
    Blame Congress :)

Has someone put together a Stadium FAQ recently? Maybe if someone could we could just start a new thread with that at the beginning. Not sure it'd help, but eh.

    Searching first is your friend.

Then if you have any additional questions, try this thread.

    That's not a horrible idea.

If anyone wants to take a stab at it, I will lock the thread and sticky it in this forum.

Re: Stadium News and Speculation XXIV: In Buzzard We Trust?

At various times, people have tried different ways to deal with this and other frequently asked questions.

So how about this: if you're interested, Riz, I'll write a stock answer to this and a few others that come up a lot from BigSoccer tourists. I'll post them here and let people comment/correct. Then, if you're willing, you can sticky it with a subject line of "ALL QUESTIONS ABOUT GETTING A NEW STADIUM: START HERE" or something like that. What do you think?

Perfect. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the "final" answers, then add them to the locked thread as they are answered. Thanks for taking the lead on starting this, Bootsy. :D

I like that a lot. Might be time for a new iteration of this thread once you're done too, and that can be the OP. Can't hurt to have it posted twice..or thrice..or over and over.

After you complete this you can write a similar post explaining the tagline on the DC United forum and why it can never change. :D

Re: Stadium News and Speculation XXIV: In Buzzard We Trust?

Or just have it stickied at the top of the forum; and any time one of these questions appears here, folks can just say "look at the stickied thread at the top of the forum" in reply.

These are the questions that seem to me to come up the most often:

    1. Why does DCU need a new stadium at all? Why can't they just stay in RFK?

    2. What's keeping DCU from getting a new stadium built? Why hasn't it happened already?

    3. Why don't they just build a new stadium at the RFK site?

    4. Is the inability to get a stadium built going to force the team to move to Baltimore?

Any more that seem very frequent fliers?

Can we kill this version or is XXV reserved for when a stadium actually is getting built?
