Man U are like Arsenal (or Barcelona), they always find their man even under pressure and look good for their money. One or two of our players not quite at their level, yet, but the signs are still promising.

And we're more threatening in the final third.

In Anfield Road end, a scum lets off a smoky flare, and they are all achoking there. Idiot.

Half-time. At the end there, I thought we started to be a bit more composed on the ball, more passing and more movement into space. The coach changed the formation somewhat as Suso was shifted more centrally and Adorjan to the left and Sterling to the right. Changed the dynamics. Man U also looked they had run out of some steam after working their proverbial to close us down and harry us off the ball bit they still take better positions on the pitch and pass a bit more accurately. I'd like us to move off the ball a bit more and, to pass a bit more accurately after half-time.

By the way, the Kop is jam-packed, and there is a sizeable crowd at the Anfield Road end. Man U and Liverpool always brings in the punters, eh?

I missed the first 20 minutes or so, but in the part I have seen, we have more than matched them. The Man U feed says that LFC are good value for their lead, with more chances created, saves forced etc. If Spearing's shot had beaten the keeper, this game would be almost in the bag by now.

Let's get the next goal and then get some more.

True....united play better as a team with the 1-2 pass and move. But boy is Sterling really getting good!! Cant really remeber a bad ball by the lad, and he seems to have great vision. Cant say the same about Suso, to many attacks have been broken down due to his fancy tricks or even lack of concentration and loses the ball often.

I take that to be Sterling ;)

They were better over all, and still are but are not very threatening in the final third.

Started and Flanagan breaks into the box, and cuts the ball back. Cut out but that's more like it. We seem to be using the flanks more.

Smith and Adorjan with a great break on the left, Smith crosses the ball and Morgan meets it well, and thumps it past the keeper. What skill! 2-0.

Morgan scores again and then shows the Man U fans the 5 fingers! LOL

One more goal will secure the win.

10 men each now and 2-1! Pogba basically blows the chance to shift the momentum in Man U's favour by getting 2 yellows for being stupid.

Re: Liverpool Reserves & Academy [R]

A mix-up in the box, very amateurish and we bring down an attacker. Straight red, and we're down to 10 men after Sama is sent off for bringing down Pogba, who gets up, and feints a shot at goal. He strokes it down the middle after the goal-keeper moved the wrong way. He gets a yellow for ungentlemanly conduct, mouths off to the referee, and gets another yellow and gets sent off. Silly sod. Retaken penalty is scored. 10 against 10. Extraordinary scenes.

2-2 after Smith gets done on the flank and it's met well, and it's all square. Poor and scrappy play.

Mcgriverin comes on for Roaddy, for Liverpool.

Sterling and Morgan almost combine for a third. Well-saved by the keeper.

Adam Morgan looks injured, and wasn't in the box when Sterling and Smith combined to, erm ... cross to nobody. Could have looked up, and used his brain a bit there.

Toni Silva will come for Morgan. Sad.

Silva almost makes an impact tying up United's right back in the box but his cross is cut out.

81 minutes. Short of ideas after holding onto the ball for nigh 50 passes-- Flanagan hoist a hopeless cross into the crowd.

Morrison with a superb volley from a corner and we're 3-2 down. Good goal, I have to say.

2 more sendings off, both Coady and Blacket. All very silly.

Looks like Man U get a late goal. Completely against the run of play. After Silva came on, we were completely dominant. They get a cheap corner and score from it. That's football.

Coady and Blackett get sent off! Wow! 4 Red Cards. Some of these players need to work on their discipline.

Re: Liverpool Reserves & Academy [R]

We lose 3-2. The wheels came off after the first twin sending off. I think we lost our heads after their second goal. They will learn, our boys, but they were not very clever when it really mattered.

But 4 dismissal at must be a record at this level, no? And it was almost another two at the end.

Re: Liverpool Reserves & Academy [R]

The Mancs win 3-2. We were undone by a long high ball into the box and a corner. If we improve in these basic situations, I think this team is pretty good. From open play we looked a lot more dangerous around the box imo. Discipline needs to be improved on by various players.

Re: Liverpool Reserves & Academy [R]

    I agree, rev.

A few things to get right, albeit on the evidence of one match. The positioning and anticipation, and discipline come to mind. I thought the long ball which caused the first sending off and the penalty was very badly judged by the defenders and goal-keeper (Sama seem to have lost it in the sun). United got most of their game going simply by closing down in packs, better positioning themselves off the ball, better shielding the ball under pressure or in a tussle, and moving even better off it. We were also a bit slow in picking runs and passes. But bright future, much brighter than a few years ago.
