It appears that nothing of importance must be happening in the US or around the world right now, because all the news networks in the US are talking about is this guy.

So, lets talk about him here.

    Seriously... WTF?

He has a substance abuse problem, he's stressed out from work and he's spiraling out of control. They need to charge him with something, give him community service, and make him coach a pee-wee hockey team. It worked wonders for his brother.

He is either incredibly ballsy and brilliant, or he is having the most epic psycho meltdown in TV history.

I still can't tell which one it is yet.

I love this guy. Like so many others of his generation like Robert Downey Jr, he is much better when he is blown out of his skull than when not.

Well, alcoholism has long been the stock-in-trade of actors. When asked what "method" he used, Robert Mitchum reportedly said, "The Stolichnaya method!"
    Other great RM quotes, btw:
The only difference between me and my fellow actors is that I've spent more time in jail.
I gave up being serious about making pictures around the time I made a film with Greer Garson and she took a hundred and twenty-five takes to say no.
[his opinion of Method actors Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson] They are all small.
[on Steve McQueen] He sure don't bring much brains to the party, that kid.
[on Jane Russell] Very good-humored when she wasn't being cranky.

It just dawned on me that he has truly turned into the version of himself he played in "Being John Malkovich". Charlie Kaufman is a visionary. :D

I think it's great that John Huges told Charlie to be himself in that movie.

He nailed it with one more line:

Boy in Police Station: You wear too much eye makeup. My sister wears too much. People think she's a whore.

    Charlie knows whores.

This isn't spiraling out of control.

Spiraling out of control would be when he starts wearing the toupee backwards.

I know I shouldn't be paying attention, but it's better entertainment than what's on TV as of late.

I would like to provide Robert Mitchum rep to this post.

I was in Newport Rhode Island one summer when Mitchum was there working on what became John Huston's last movie (or would've been, if he didn't die during shooting of Mr. North). Everywhere I went that summer, I saw Robert Mitchum, either doing something with the film or relaxing with a drink or twelve at a local watering hole.

Not even Chuck Norris can out bad-ass Robert Mitchum.

I missed 8. Guess I don't spend enough time lapping up the spittle of the deranged.

The Ministry of Truth's timing with this Charlie Sheen thing couldn't be more impeccable. People were getting too many images of citizens around the world and in the nation taking their futures into their own hands and we need a well placed distraction to maintain the unnatural order.

Look how cute we are. Always distracted by shiny things.
