Your scenerio makes perfect sense if you're playing a video game. To sell Benzema at a massive loss, then turn around and purchase Aguero and Llorente, two strikers who have loyalties to other clubs but still cost 35 million to 40 million euros a piece? Are you serious about this, or is this a bit of a joke? If Higuain is back to 100% next year, what Madrid should really do is: NOTHING! Having Higuain/Benz as your two primary strikers, with Morata coming into his own, it is not unreasonable to expect him to be your 3rd striker. This would be the intelligent move. Higuain/Benz are extremely young and extremely talented, they go along with Ozil, DiMaria, Canales, Pedro Leon, Granero, Marcelo, etc etc as your incredibly young and incredibly talented core. you have veteran leadership with the likes of Ronaldo/Alonso/Iker/Pepe/etc. And, most importantly you have one of the best coaches in the world. All the pieces are there. All that is needed now is some time and patience. Don't continue this endless cycle of attempting to buy your way out of trouble, this revolving door of managers and players. By the time Llorente/Aguero are here, Benz is sold Higuain is on the bench, and the new excuse will be: "these guys need some time to gel," lol. This team looks like they actually enjoy each other and are building relationships. Perez and co should be happy that they have built a great team. Put your wallet in your pocket and enjoy! If Higuain cannot return, then yes, buy a striker. If not, stay with what you have.
Or if you are Florentino Perez. It doesn't work that way. Part of the Perez model involves signing some mediatic each year. It's also what he seems to enjoy. And every rumor I've heard says that Benzema will be gone in the summer.
I don't play video games. Benzema has yet to deliver considering what we've paid for him. The loss is there already. Right now Llorente is a major upgrade in my opinion. I think he brings dimensions to the game that Benzema has never shown he can provide. What do you know about Morata besides what you see in Marca and AS? I can't offer an argument for or against him. I can however cite a list of all the previous "next Rauls" that come through the cantera. Tell me about Morata. You mention the best manager in the world... the same one that's been asking for a third striker since he got here? The same one that doesn't appear to be sold on Benzema? The same one that has called him out in the press? Maybe Mourinho has been playing video games?
How much we get if we give up on the kid and sell on this summer? I think it will be a very bad business. I think his performances in the remaining matches will be a deciding factor as well. Hope the entry of big ade really pump him up and we get the Benzy of lyon..
Kaka is also "better" than Özil if you consider the past 5 years, but right now, Mesut is where it's at. Also, Torres has the same injury Kaka has.
The "Benzy of Lyon" was a mirage, a possibility at best. It's not a matter of fitness, IMO. I've watched a gazillion games in which Torres was lined up. At one point it seemed as he could become a great striker, but that was all. He is tremendously overrated.
I'm all for getting rid of Benz in the summer and bringing in Llorente or Aguero to form a partnership with Higuain. Definitely not Torres. You think people would learn we don't need overrated, overpriced players.
In my opinion ^^ For me, it's definitely Higuain and Llorente for top 2. If Higuain will be back in mid-season, then keep Benzy. If Floro can make it happen, then I wouldn't mind Ibrahimovich, but 1. priority is still Llorente and Higuain.
I also don't want Torres here. IMO, we may keep one between the two current strikers next season. If Benzema can score 10-15 Goals this season I will want to have him next season also. I also haven't seen Lukaku (Not sure about the spelling) but I believe it will be difficult for us to buy 2 hot strikers next season (At least from financial point of view). One more thing, Llorente is playing better now than Torres, but Torres was once better player than the current Llorente. He was always very talented but never did it consistently, like this year after the goals against Chelsea he hasn't done much .4X4s gave a better example regarding this discussion (It gave me pain but the point was perfect). But on his days he is still a killer and he still has some days left unlike Kaka'. Although Llorente is pretty young and he may become even better when playing for us .
I still believe Ronaldo was overpriced (Underrated though ), so what have you learnt Just joking, definitely not Torres but I don't want to get rid of Benzema next season before watching him the next few months. He had some good games in last 2 months, lets see if he can perform better in later stages .
At 19 while Torres was playing for the NT, Ruud was a recently converted CB playing in the Dutch second division. Just sayin'
Aside from the fact that we shouldn't be getting Torres... We were whining about how Benzema and Higuain would get enough time this season. How do we expect to give Higuain, Aguero and Llorente enough time? Aguero is a luxury signing IMO. Llorente or bust.
People are seriously naming Torres? lol that's like trying to get Puyol to play for us. This summer will be very interesting. If Benzema can pull of a 360 and become a goal scoring machine, then I would be fine with him staying. However, if he doesn't stay consistent then sell him and bring Llorente.
Figo said: "I could never play for Real Madrid". When Barcelona won the league: "Madrid, bow before the champions". I wonder what happened to that guy? Stop that BS please. Players say these kind of stuff everytime, to gain some kind of advantage with the fans, just like when players come to a big club and say "It's a dream come true", or like when there's a concert and the singer yells "You're the best crowd eveeeeer". But none of it is true. If Barcelona were shit and we made an offer on Puyol, he would also come. Despite Torres' and his previous BS, he would also come if we really wanted him. ( But we don't - thank god! )
Not exactly the same, Torres had a poor last season but he was still arguably better player than Llorente. Torres might be overrated but that doesn't mean he is not better than striker who NEVER scored more than 14 league goals in his entire career . I like Llorente but he has to be the most overrated player on this board.
How can you compare Luis Figo to Torres? that's just stupid. Did Figo grow up wearing those filthy cule colors? of course he didn't, Shitcelona was his second club. There's no chance in hell he's coming.
Are you joking? He wasn't. The world cup was the climax of the season were he completely broke down. Even Joseba Llorente was better than Torres last season. Neither did Villa before Valencia signed him from zaragoza / he scored 17, but that's not a big difference anyway.
And he still managed to score 22 goals in 32 games last season... First you say neither did villa but than you admit that he did score more . Llorente is 26 yo player who never scored more than 14 goals in la liga. Good player but let's be realistic, he is not elite striker and probably never will be.
I'd bet that very few strikers could score 20+ per season for a team like Bilbao. We already have a goal scoring machine in Ronaldo and Higuain, if we can get another forward to create more spaces for them in the field then i wouldn't expect that forward to score regularly. There's more in a striker than just scoring goals. Just sayin...
Man come on, you know you watch the games. Berbatov will probably end the season with well above 20 goals, but that still doesn't mean he's a brilliant player at this point. Dude, you realize that Villa scored 15 League goals the season before he joined Valencia, and on his first season with Valencia he scored 25. Numbers count, but basically Benzema scored 20 and 17 League goals in the seasons before joining us, and he gave us 8 League goals in his first season for us. He never played for an elite team. His record for the national team is 5 goals in 10 matches, while Torres has 25 goals in 81 caps.
I dont want Torres to ever play for us but that does not change the fact that I believe he is a better striker than llorente (who is btw only a year younger so I dont buy the future potential argument). In fact I really cant thnk of a department in which llorente has a clear advantage over Torres. Stats can often be interpreted to suit the argument, but a 57% goal rate is not just marketing hype for a striker bought by liverpool for about £20 million effectively. That doesnt sound overpriced nor overrated. For NT performances, Torres might not have lighted it up but he is still 4th highest goal scorer for spain. Llorente looks like a late bloomer imo, and could go on to be a great striker, but he is currently not as good as a fit and in form Torres.
haha, true to the first part. I agree with you that it seems like Benz is gone, and i completely understand tweaking the lineup when needed to improve, but someone should tell Perez that continuity is important as well. Not to mention, perhaps he has learned something in his second reign? Doesn't it seem like he has formulated a plan? Get all this incredible young talent and allow it to grow together under a great manager? At least we can hope. These guys are all like 22-23 years old, Benz included. The great talent is there, perhaps it is just taking him time to develop?
I dont think benz is going anywhere. Adebayor's arrival would let him play, and hopefully shine, in the deeper position he seems to do better at. Only problem would be limited minutes for being super sub and filling in for CR. I think for the summer we should be getting Ade or llorente, a left footed CB that could also play LB if we lose pepe, and another DM if Lass decides to go.
