Mahamadou Diarra on his way to Monaco, looks like he was allowed to leave on a free (no mention of a fee). Adebayor will take his spot in the 25 man squad. http://www.marca.com/2011/01/27/futb...296145983.html We'll miss your fire and passion Momo! Will always remember the header that deflected off Basinas's ass and into the net allowed us to win the league in 2007.
Actually he has in the past but off course that is not to say he has not change his mind or would not be open to transfer now. I am personally split on a Sergio Aguero transfer. I do not feel that he would offer us anything better or different than what we have now in Gonzalo Higuain, who I believe to be the superior player, and that his talent or experience might not justify the price he would presumably come for. The Llorente transfer: That I can understand and makes sense since he would offer us something that our current strikers do not have.
Agreed. We could really benefit from Llorente, he has this knack for goal. And Aguero could turn out to be another Robinho.
I just want to see or hear it for myself, it might have happened. So far no-one has been able to show me though, and just want me to take their word for it.
^ There have definitely been articles w quotes from Aguero saying that he could never play for us (something along those lines). If someone wants to spend some time digging them up, I'm sure they can find them. EDIT: Here is something I just found: Aguero Changes his Thoughts on Real Madrid This article basically says that despite repeatedly saying he'd never play for Real Madrid, Aguero could now be changing his mind. Aguero: Nunca del Atleti al Real Madrid
That's not the point. Why not Higuain, Llorente and Aguero?? We are seeing this year that 2 strikers isn't much of a guarantee. Just saying.
And who can predict how Higuain will play after his injury, or if he will even recover for the first half of next season? Having 3 good strikers next season would be awesome but also tricky.
Why are we already ruling out Adebayor? I wouldn't mind him staying here if he bags 4 against Barcelona and 20 goals total
That is so true that when Torres was playing for the NT at the age of 19, Llorente was wallowing in the Tercera División.
Playing for the national team and performing for the national team are two different things. Llorente is the much more effective player.
You've said it yourself before: we don't need that much talent on the bench. Assuming we still use 1 striker, that would leave 2 of them on the bench, and Aguero and Llorente are surely going to get paid a massive amount. Llorente actually provides something different to the team that we don't have. Aguero doesn't (as much anyways). If we got rid of Benzema, then maybe it would be economically feasible to sign Aguero (in terms of wages), but we definitely don't need the four of them. I'd rather we sign a Lukaku before we sign an Aguero.
Now or then? cos then Llorente was not even in the primera. The fact that torress has been playing for the NT since such an early age goes to his quality. You can say that Llorente is the more in form striker now (as Torres, like rooney, pays for the high mileage he has accumulated from an early age) but to say Torres cannot clean his boots is just going way overboard. Llorente hasnt delivered consistently enough at the highest level to merit that imo.
I've said we don't need that much talent on the bench? I don't remember that. I do agree that it is tricky to manage and difficult to put together a squad that includes 'stars' on the bench. My scenario definitely includes selling Benzema. I haven't seen Lukaku, so I can't rate him or compare him to anyone.
It's cumulative, Torres automatically gets a goal as soon as he steps on the pitch because he played on the national team at age 19. Seriously though, I think 3 star forwards is too much. Not just handling playing time and personalities, but it's a waste of resources. We would have been okay with two star strikers if Benzema lived up to his potential.
Torres is a marketing product, created by the Spanish (and now English) media. That's why he started to play with Spain so early. But he has disappointed for us in all but a handful of occasions. Remember the years when he couldn't score except against Barcelona? And on top of that, he has constant injury problems. Personally, I don't see the problem in that; Pipita and Agüero can easily play in a more withdrawn position. I don't think Mourinho thinks he can't manage that much talent.
