http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/reds-agree-suarez-deal it looks like ~21M GBP or a bit more....guess everyone got what they wanted.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! I'm pumped, but let's not get carried away. He has to agree to personal terms. What if he refuses to wear a muzzle in training?
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Like the thread title. I will gladly eat crow and own up to the fact that I talked a lot of shit about his handball at the WC. But I won't deny that he's a clever, unpredictable player with all the talent in the world and I am ecstatic that we signed him. I hope he's able to keep a level head and mature a bit here, but his passion for the game is reminiscent of Carlitos Tevez, IMO, and he seems like the perfect foil to Torres. Well in, FSG. Well in John effin' Henry, and well in Tom Werner - your best move since The Cosby Show!
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! ha - those Fandango commercials always make me laugh before movies .... specifically in the case the "Wild Fandango" one
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! It is good to see the new owners putting up some money -- time will tell on how well spent the money is. Now just gonna keep Torres, seeing the two of them play together would be pretty incredible.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Gotta say too that the Ajax posters that have come over and posted over the last couple weeks have been great - respectful, insightful, and now congratulatory. I realize we've poached a much-loved player from your club, and that has to sting a bit, but it sounds like it was a pretty good deal for both sides. Hopefully y'all can make good use of the money. It was a bit of a saga, but in the grand scheme of things, you had to think it was gonna work out this way - lots of jockeying, posturing, bullshit figures thrown out, a seemingly done deal only to be dashed once, then twice, and the inevitable signing on the dotted line. This is a coup, make no mistake about it. Torres + Suarez has the potential to be the best partnership in the EPL. Wow. It's been a couple months since Luisito has played...he must be champing at the bit to get out on the field! *rimshot*
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Heh, you guys are not so bad yourselfs. I've tried having civil discussions on Spurs and Madrid forums. That's an impossibility. As for losing Suarez, that's a situation I've learned to live with. We sell our best players almost every season. I think Liverpool is a good fit for him. We'll just have to move on.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! The LFC website said its a deal that could add up to € 26,5 million. Thats around £22 million, and i'm guessing we are paying about £ 18 million in advance and £ 4 in bonuses. It's a very expensive deal.....lets hope he is worth it. PD: Is he available for the EUROPA LEAGUE?
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! it is expensive - but the guy is legit quality. thanks to Man City (and f'ing Aston Villa) - we knew we would have to pay a bit more than we wanted - but overall it's a great deal. 24 year old heading into the prime of his career, proven at the international level at least, and the kind of quality we have been clamoring for. EDIT - Europa League - if Ajax have dropped into the Europa League - then apparently he is not available unfortunately. That said - I don't think we had Torres for a single Group stage game - so we should be able to put out a strong team for that comp too.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Not available for the Europa. League only pretty much. I'm ok with that, but they need to push for a spot in Europe. CL is probably beyond them, but getting in the Europa again is a must, along with showing improvement down the stretch so they can attract more talent.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Not to digress, but next year is all about the EPL. If not playing in Europe means we boost our chances in the EPL, I am all for it. I'd love CL, obviously, but that's just not realistic at this point. Thursday games just ain't no fun at all.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! You guys are going to be fine. Sulejmani is a fine young talent at striker, and I would LOVE to have Christian Eriksen. He's going to be one of the best attacking midfielders around one day. I'm very excited to have Suarez now though, can't wait to see him and Fernando tear apart Dzeko and Tevez and then Berbatov and Chicharito when they come to Anfield.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Agreed, I have appreciated the comments from the Ajax fans and their attitude now shows some class. Thanks guys.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Extremely good bit of business by Ajax. They saw you coming a mile off.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Ok, i've been looking up the UEFA rule book. http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/19071.pdf Since Suarez only played in the CL and Ajax still haven't registered the list of players for the EL, he should be OK. But then it says AT any point of the season....does that include a possible future participation? If he's cup tied, then i would be more baffled by his price tag....
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! Fantastic player. He may have his controversies but his ability is unquestionable. I've been a Twitter addict these past few weeks with rumours and such, finally glad to see this come true. Hopefully he is a partner for Torres, rather than all the "inside rumours" that say Torres wants out.
Re: Welcome Luis "Wild Fang-handgo" Suarez! It is definitely a good bit of business for them, to be fair. What'd Ajax buy him for 6 million or something? Not bad. Very excited to see him paired with Torres, as this has probably been the signing most worthy of the club since Torres came over.
