Just broken on SSN after many rumours.

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6620170,00.html

Sky Sports sources understand Manchester City are in 'advanced talks' to sign Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia international has been a target for a clutch of leading European clubs and has been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Juventus in the past.

He stayed at Wolfsburg over the summer after interested clubs failed to meet a clause in his contract to buy him at the end of last season.
However, the 24-year-old could now be on the move when the January transfer window opens amid reports City have stepped up their bid to capture Dzeko.

City boss Roberto Mancini recently confirmed his interest in Dzeko and is now trying to add the prolific forward to his squad.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz have both been tipped to leave Eastlands in the New Year and that would help to pave the way for Dzeko's arrival.

Reports claim that City are ready to pay 30million Euros (£25.6m) immediately for Dzeko and a further 5m Euros (£4.3m) if the club qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

A deal for Dzeko would certainly boost City's hopes of reaching Europe's elite club competition and also give their Premier League title ambitions a further shot in the arm.

A 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa on Tuesday saw City move level on points with local rivals United at the top of the table, with another big-name signing - Mario Balotelli - scoring a hat-trick.

We don't know how well he will fit in the Premier League. I like the fact that he is tall, a trait that is missing with Tevez. If he comes, only time will tell.

I'm thinking he may very well may be a tevez... replacement. As opposed to a partner.

The Bundesliga is different from the Premiership. We're still uncertain as to how well Dzeko will fit into the Premiership. It's a lot harder to score goals in the Premiership and he will have to adjust to more of a physical style of play.

On the other hand, he will get much better service from Silva, Milner, and Adm Johnson compare to the crap he gets in Wolfsburg.

i dont think dzeko would have much trouble adjusting..he is a big strong lad who is great in the air and very good technically..like you said he would also get much better service at city then he does at wolfsburgh..

Yes, Roque and Adebayor will go at the minimum IMO. Interested to see what comes of this, a world-class striker indeed and perhaps more what we need than Tevez (in terms of structure).

Well, as an example, the only forward on our bench yesterday was Jo. People overstate our forward situation as there are constantly injuries (Adebayor, Balotelli yesterday), there is one who may be fit but isn't deemed good enough even for the bench (Santa Cruz), leaving Tevez and Jo yesterday as our only strike options. When our business is done, I think Adebayor and RSC will be gone and our four forwards will be Tevez (whether he stays long-term is a question mark), Balotelli, Dzeko, and Jo. We're after 17yo Lukaku from Anderlecht too and with Hamburg interested in Jo, I wonder if Lukaku could be brought in as the fourth choice (though I see that deal more as paper talk right now).

All the main outlets now reporting it is all done, to be confirmed on Tuesday.

    Daily Mirror Manchester Football Correspondent:
"Fee of £27m agreed between Man City and Wolfsburg for Dzeko. Player expected in Manchester for medical and formally sign on Tues #MCFC"

    Mark Ogden, Telegraph:
"Man City have agreed a £27m fee with Wolfsburg for Dzeko. Deal unlikely to be finalised til Tues at earliest, though."

    The Sun:
"MANCHESTER CITY have agreed a £27million cut-price fee with Wolfsburg for striker Edin Dzeko.

    [...]

He is likely to be offered a five-year deal worth around £100,000 a week and City do not expect any stumbling blocks."

I hope Ade will go to Juve, does he have an EU passport? Can he get one easily?

He doesn't have an EU passport so I don't think Juventus could sign him until the end of the season. Unless Real come in with a bid as rumoured, I think we will loan him out until the end of the season then sell him.

How hard would it be to get a passport? Can't he get it before the window closes?

I don't know how it works but I don't think it can be gotten that quickly. He's been in Europe a while though so I'm not sure why he can't apply for one.

The FIGC have always had a limit. They've reduced to 1 this year, Krasic is it. Otherwise Dzeko would be a Juve player already.

City already got trouble keeping Tevez and Balotelli happy and we all know how the Robinho thing went. Three stars who signed solely because of the paycheck. Now add another star who would prefer to be somewhere else. Isn't that kind of... stupid?

Yeah, I think they did. And he does actually have a pretty good point while even forgetting to add the wondrous uniting force that is Adebayor.

Well in most games 2 of the 3 would play along with either Silva and Johnson. On average City play two games a week, and in the modern game rotation is important.

United had Tevez, Berbatov, Rooney, and Ronaldo at one point and played only one of them up top in certain CL games.

Mancini is competing on all fronts. He needs four quality strikers and 2 decent backup. All the top teams around Europe has many strikers. Why are people bitching at us? Because we're rich...................bitch. ha ha ha

I don't think playing time is the problem. Tevez is a regular no? For whatever reason these superstars, who one would argue signed there solely because of money, don't seem happy being City players. Why add to that a player who has made it perfectly clear he wants to play in Serie A? It's like having a girlfriend you know is with you only because you're rich. I'm not sure how that works in the long run.
