This thread is specifically for discussion on our foreign based players. Only players who have at one time or another been capped at either junior or senior level and are currently contracted to a pro club can be discussed here. Uncapped Salvadorans abroad can also be discussed, but only if they have played in El Salvador at some point in their careers. To visit last year's thread, go here.
These were the players who were being kept track of for most of last year and are, as I type this, still under contract... Arturo Alvarez - Real Salt Lake (MLS) Osael Romero - Chivas USA (MLS) Deris Umanzor - Chicago Fire (MLS) Edwin Miranda - Puerto Rico Islanders (NASL) Cristian Esnal - Montevideo Wanderers (Uruguay) Those wondering about players like Dustin Corea or Efrain Burgos, until they've actually signed with a pro team, are not to be discussed in here. (Corea news/talk goes in here...Burgos in here.) Players like Steve Purdy and Gerson Mayen are not to be discussed in here either, since they have not been capped in any level for ES and haven't played in ES. (Purdy talk/news goes in here...Mayen in here.) Hopefully I don't come off as a prick or anything, It's just that everything will be organized if this system is in place.
Osael will no longer play at Chivas USA...looking at other options but chances are that he'll return to Vista Hermosa Osael no seguirá en Chivas USA
Organization is the key to Success . Is save to say that Umanzor has his job save as for Osael thier are still douths since a new coach is over at Chivas USA. We will see what happends soon I guess. Edit--- Sooner than expected I guess. So maybe some other MLS team takes a shot at Osael. I dint see that happening though :/. >UNO<
Recent article about Mardo and that situation... Article : Mardoqueo medita su salida, el DT lo desmiente Fingers crossed something actually comes out of this.
I'm a good friend of Mardo's brother in law here in the Bay Area and yesterday I talked to him (brother in law) and he told me that : first, Mardo's contract with FAS should expire in seven months. Second, He is studing the posibilities of going to America de Cali, but as far as they know, the club has some $$$ problems. So, what good is to go play in Colombia, if you don't know if you going to get paid.
Guess there is some MLS interest too? not sure but in an article in elsalvadorfc.com, Agustin Castillo said: If his contract expires in about July/August (7 months or so...) than it would make sense for Mardo to go to MLS in the second half since that halfway point of the MLS is around that time...so thats interesting...also don't want him to go to Colombia and do like Esnal...he's abroad and in an urguablly better league, but doesnt play...so wherever he decides to play i hope he gets minutes and has success... Mardoqueo medita su salida, el DT lo desmiente
Nothing new but its official Romero wont return to Chivas... Chivas USA Declines Option on Midfielder Osael Romero
It's because Rudis has more experience than Amaya and is better than Ayala. Amaya is a good player on the team but he still young probably not good to put in 90 min in most game so having Rudy will keep Amaya on bench for a bit. Fito spot can't be taken obviously. Ayala pretty much there for back up in bench. Now Rafael Burgos has a similar playing style like Rudis Corrales but is younger with more stamina but maybe not as strong as him but Rudis does have more experience so those 2 are most likely going to "fight" for the starting spot. This discussion should be moved to the club thread if this is going to continue.
I'm under the impression that Esnal is still with Montevideo... (Teams website mentions that only 3 players have left the team.) So with that in mind, here is the preseason schedule for Montevideo Wanderers.
Wanderers tied 2-2 today vs Deportivo Maldonado in there 1st friendly match of the new year. Esnal was a starter than subbed out at the half. Next friendly match will be January 17th vs Velez Sarfield of Argentina.
On the role of Arturo Alvarez in RSL’s system… “Until he shows up in our camp, we’re not sure, but Arturo has indicated to us that he’ll play wherever we ask him to play. We project him as a forward in our system, an out-and-out striker. But we’ll be in a month of preseason and we’ll put him there, we’ll put him some in midfield, and we’ll look at how he works best collectively with our players. “The word I use to describe Arturo is that he is disruptive – and I mean that in a positive way – on the field. His ability to individually take players on off the dribble is as good as anybody’s in the League, and I think that’s something that we weren’t excellent at. We really wanted to add a disruptive player to our offense that was unpredictable and that we could use to give a little change of pace and translate more of our possession into chances on goal.” Article : Lagerwey Conference Call
He needs to live up to that reputation. Otherwise he's just a midfielder. He needs to go 1 on 1 every time or whenever possible. Look at Castillo, that's exactly what DC was looking for and he did not live up to the task. He always played backwards as if in our league.
You can't really compare the two. Alvarez is familiar with the league and has had success in both teams he was in. Castillo came into the MLS not knowing how physical and fast the league really is.
Article/Transcript : "Espero que me tomen en serio para la Selecta" On the subject of Burgos, he also has a twitter page and a facebook fan page.
They lost 1-0 today vs Velez. Esnal was a starter. Next preseason matches are scheduled for the 20th and 21st.
I never seen the guy played but before he went abroad he was playing for segunda devison in El Salvador. I think his dad is the assistant coach at Wanderers , " I think" i might be wrong. >UNO<
His dad was an uruguayan player and got murdered in el salvador http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raúl_Esnal
