So I heard they have to do well in another tournament, but I can't find that tournament online. I'd like to watch it on TV. Any idea how I can track this info down? I want to support Club TJ, so any tips on how to follow them online or television would be great. Do you think they'll be promoted?

They will play the winners of the next regular season tournament in something of a Promotion showdown...don't know what happens if they win it too though...

And yes they will be promoted soon, the companies behind the team have shelled out big bucks to make them a first tier team

Looking to get information on tickets for Xolos home game. I live in San Diego. Would I just go to TJ and buy at the stadium? Anyone going this Sunday?

Also, looking for a jersey from last year -- when they looked like AC Milan. Anyone know where to get one? Thanks!

Thanks. I'd probably just walk up to the stadium, and buy tickets there.

Anyone from San Diego going to the game tomorrow? Xolos playing Correcaminos, who are currently top the Liga del Ascenso.

Damn the stadium just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Very interesting design too, very vertical for a stadium.

Used to go to the games a lot when I lived in San Diego, was probably the only gringo to go to there and atmosphere is great at the games, plus the beer is super cheap.

Xolos are 180 minutes away from the 1st division.

Xolos have 2 ways to be promoted:

    1. Beat Irapuato in the Torneo Clausura Grand Final.

    2. If necessary, beat Irapuato in the Promotion Playoff Series.

If the Xolos were to be promoted, then LA Galaxy and Chivas USA will have serious competition 2 hours down the road, especially when Chivas Guadalajara and Club America are in town. Expect the likes of Mexicoach to run buses from East LA and East San Fernando Valley to Estadio Caliente on game days.

It may get even better with FSN starting up a new Fox Sports San Diego station for the Padres. Hopefully the Xolos talk to them about getting on the network. That would give Club Tijuana not only the FMF's normal spanish language boradcasts that make their way north, but also an English language outlet to spread interest in them to at least SD and Imperial Counties.

The only Mexican First Division club that does TV deals in Mexico and the U.S. separately is Chivas Guadalajara. Chivas' deal with Telemundo for the U.S. rights runs through June 2012.

All the other Mexican First Division clubs sell their TV rights on a worldwide basis to either Televisa or TV Azteca.

Televisa licenses U.S. TV rights to either Univision Networks or Telemundo

TV Azteca sublicenses to Univision Networks, FOX Sports Int'l (FOX Deportes in the U.S.), or ESPN Int'l (ESPN Deportes in the U.S., ESPN or ESPN DOS or ESPN+ in Latin America.)

It'll be interesting to see what the Xolos will do with their TV rights if they were promoted. TV Azteca would want the rights on a worldwide basis, but the Xolos might want to cut their own deal in the U.S. separately the way Chivas Guadalajara do.

It would definitely benefit them as a young team that is closer to the US border than any other FMF team (and a very large US city too), to cut their own international deal particularly at a local level. Unlike even Chivas, the Xolos could actually directly impact their own local interest by branching out directly across the border in a way no other FMF team can. It's a risk to be sure, the branch out when no other team does it in the league, but the benefits are pretty apparent given their unique situation compared to the rest of the league.
