    Shouldn't it be "no reserve-action"?

I think with enough of an attitude adjustment, Jermaine Jones could be right back for the United States in 2022.

a time machine is the only thing that will let Jones be our RB in 2022. I'd rather not have a 41 year old playing on our team in the middle eastern heat. :D

No reserve action indeed. Jones did not play this weekend for the reserve team. His co-suspendee Baumjohann went 90.

He couldn't have played anyway because of a yellow card suspension.

IMO, Magath seems like an ass and is making Jermaine a scapegoat for his team's failures.

I've also gotten vibes from previous Magath comments about JJ that he was less than thrilled about him switching to the US and is looking for a reason to get rid of him.

Yes. A player who sits out a suspension can not play for other teams of his club during the weekend(s) he is suspended for another team.

While Magath is a tremendous manager based on results, he has burned many bridges over the year. He's just a hard ass and likes to "flex his muscles". There's a reason he's been nicknamed "Saddam" and “Quälix" (which IIRC is some sort of mixture of a German word meaning torment and Felix). Magath holds grudges and once you are in the dog house it's pretty damn hard to get out. It doesn't matter who you are.

As I said in the Bayern game thread, Rakitic is not a deep mid and Kluge is mediocre.

Matip has a lot of upside but he is a kid.

JJ needs to get his groove back and deal with the pressure better.

Magath simply won't allow outbursts of this kind on his squad.

Come to think of it, most German coaches wouldn't.

Yeah, in German Felix is pronounced something like "Fay-lix", so combined with quälen - to torment or torture, you get Quälix. It's not just about being a ball breaker, though, as part of that nickname and rep is derived from the intensive fitness training he puts his team through.

He is the boss and doesn't let anyone question his authority, that's for sure. If Schalke were to can him, I would love love love for my team to hire him again.

Schalke won their Champions LEague group and as such are seeded for the draw tomorrow. From UEFA.com:

    B: FC Schalke 04
Can play: Inter, Valencia, København, Roma, Marseille, Milan, Arsenal

If Jermaine is not sold in January and gets out of Magath's doghouse, those are his possible opponents.

Doesn't sound like Jones and Magath will be patching things up anytime soon.

    http://www.bild.de/BILD/sport/fussb...h-verspottet-schalke-star-jermaine-jones.html

From what I can gather from Google Translate, Felix Magath mocked Jermaine Jones for being all talk, stated that Jones will not be training with the team in their winter camp as the reserve coaches have informed him that he has failed to impress in his time there, and accused Jones of leaking internal affairs to the media. Google Translate isn't the best, so I could be totally wrong.

It also says that Jones will leave as soon as possible, but that there aren't any concrete offers for him just yet.

I see him going on loan this winter at the very least.

    €4M/Y sure sounds nice though.

Schalke drew Valencia in the CL but I guess it doesn't matter to Jones.

And if it doesn't matter to him, it doesn't matter to us - or to me, anyway.

Could this be some karmic payback for not granting Puerto Rico statehood?

I suspect the USMNT has also seen the last of Jones. Too bad.
