knowing that it's such a tiny country, doesn't that mean that ajax has to compete even more

    &

holland has better top academies since the talent pool is so much smaller, but we still manage to produce an equally if not higher amount of talents?

    :p

The days Ajax dominated anything are long gone :)

At least they don't lose 10-0. OOOOOOF!

When people ask why the U.S. is not producing top level talent this link should close the thread.

Personally I have no idea whether the Ajax academy is better or worse than academies at other clubs. But they sure do like telling everybody they think they're the best.

Maybe we should be talking about PSV, who's won 3 times as many titles as Ajax this decade.

false, you quote a person that mentioned a ny times article where the reporter himself came to this conclusion, not us.

    false,

psv 6 leagues, 1 knvb, 3 super cups

ajax 2 leagues, 4 knvb, 4 super cups

same amount of titles won this decade,

you want to talk about the decade before that my friend, or how about total the amount? :p

No argument there. Simply pointing out the VAST difference in the way players are developed outside the U.S.

don't listen to him, his initial post before the one you quoted had him saying "at least ajax don't lost 10 - 0 often" implying he confused ajax with feyenoord.

I'm not getting into this argument cause I don't have an opinion on it nor do I care.

I was pointing out the incredible deifference between U.S. youth development and European development with that link. That's what I care about.

i suspect when he said titles that he meant League titles. As you listed above, PSV does have 3X more then Ajax league titles.

What greats have come out of the Feyenoord Academy? Honest question, I really don't know.

true, but i can counter his arguement with saying that over half of the dutch squad that reached the final in the world cup came through the ajax academy while a grand total of 2 players have spend time at psv youth teams. :D

valid question and to tell you the truth there haven't been many, but in their defense.. both gio (ex arsenal and barca) and rvp (current gunner) are from feyenoord though :p

yeah, I knew about both Gio and RVP but can't really think of any more. I think Kuyt is a product. I'm a big fan of Kuyt, even though most people aren't.

Does Ajax buy players? Or is their entire senior team from the youth academy?

kuyt came from amateur side katwijk and joined fc utrechts 1st team when he was 18, he had spend 5 seasons there before joining feyenoord.

    ajax usual starting line-up is,

    stekelenburg

van der wiel - alderweireld - vertonghen - anita

enoh - de jong - de zeeuw

suarez - el hamdaoui - emanuelson

players in bold are from the academy.

as you already know, vermaelen who you bought from us is also from the ajax academy and so was bergkamp.

No, he was just saying that, at least Ajax doesn't get blown off by 10-0 scores.

I was making making fun of Feyenoord with the 10-0 comment.

And, personally, I couldn't care less about cups (I realize a Dutch person might)

League titles this decade......PSV has 6 and Ajax has 2.

So we can go on and on about Ajax's youth development, and we can go on and on about how many Ajax players were on Holland's national team at the World Cup............but it's been PSV that's dominated in the league this decade. Ajax still produces great players in their academy. That's indisputable. But now they fulfill their potential with Bayern, Madrid, Arsenal, and Inter............not Ajax. At some point a change in strategy might actually be in order. Suarez will be fantastic at Man United next year, PSV will be celebrating another league title.......while Ajax fans will be wondering what's going wrong. But they'll be able to go on message boards and brag about their youth development program.

    so what was the edit?

your intention was to make fun of both ajax and feyenoord in that little post? ok i get it.

lol @ the quoted part, you disagree with yourself a lot don't you. how are we bragging when others like you do the praising instead.

ajax play cl this season, while psv are in the europa league.

you do know suarez will still end his season at ajax, while psv might lose afellay in january in order to cash in on him?

when suarez leaves he will go for considerable money, afellay on the other hand may go on a bosman.

do you follow the eredivisie or just skim through it to find something to hate on for both ajax and feyenoord? :D

When I think of good academies- I think of Ajax, Barcelona, and Sporting(Portugal).

also consider how good Ajax would be if they dodn"t sell their best players like Babel, Huntelaar, and Sneijder.

Considering that they sold Cruijff and Neeskens going way back, the only question is not "if" but "where"?

When I see or read this type of information it amazes me that with the U.S.'s happen-as-it-may approach to developing top soccer players that we've even managed to develop our handful of decent quality professional players.
