It's 35 days away, but this will be significant for several reasons. It'll be the biggest challenge for Brazil after Mano Menezes' arrival, and it'll also be the last full FIFA international for the year. Supposedly there is another Brazil vs. Argentina for later in the year, but that's supposedly a fixture involving domestic players only, and while it'll be an important match nonetheless, it is different if the biggest names are absent.

Brazilian news already report that Mano will remain in Europe for the next few days to observe other players, such as World Cup veterans Júlio César, Maicon and Lúcio, whose Internazionale will face off against AC Milan on the 19th. Ronaldinho Gaúcho and Robinho will also be on the pitch.

So, if Mano does choose to re-incorporate the older, more seasoned players into the new Brazil NT for the Nov. game against the Argentines, whom should he bring back and why?

I'd definitely like to see Júlio César and Maicon in there.

Michel Bastos, and hopefully Alex (Chelsea) will have recovered from injury...

Forget about some of the new kids for now...

Maicon,Julio cesar and Hernanes should be there ....Age is a problem for Lucio and Juan..As good as they are it's better to continue with T.silva -D.luiz. I would like to see Hernanes ahead of Ramires or Lucas.Ramires was not very impressive so far this season..

Filepe Luis is another player who should get a shot at Left back spot ..He started playing for A.Madrid after the long injury layoff and was solid in those games!!

Dunno whether Neymar should be called up or not!! Neymar + Pato is a deadly combo...

I actually agree somewhat with this. We don't need a team full of 19/20 years olds. Mano should mix it up a little. Players like Hernanes, Bastos, Maicon are not that old.

Mano is taking a closer look at AC Milan - he already has Robinho, Pato, and Thiago Silva... maybe he will add Ronaldinho Gaucho to the team, if only for "entrosamento" ?

no to Lucio and Juan. We need to groom Luiz and Silva in that role.

Id say keep the same lineup except add Hernanes and Neymar.

    -----------------Pato-----------------
    ------Neymar-------------Robinho-----
    ---------------Hernanes---------------
    ----------Ramires------Lucas----------
    ----Santos-----------------Alves------
    -------------Luiz-----Silva-------------
    ----------------Victor-----------------

that's a great lineup - no objections from me. after watching the last 2 friendlies, i'm surprised how different lucas is under mano vs what we see at the club level....

Yes - that is a good line-up. Lucas is rocking with Mano~!

I always thought that Lucas is a very intelligent player with tremendous knowledge, and strategic view of the game.

He is one of the best on bringing the ball up for good attacking chances.

Filepe Melo is playing very well for Juventus so far this season.....
He got a standing ovation during last game ...He scored a superb penalty Goal too!!!
with current club form He should be a starter over Ramires/Lucas..

bleh - I just realized the game is during our mid-semester break so I'll probably be away scuba diving in the Seychelles.

Anyhoo, I guess I'll just have to wait till the world cup final in 2022 when Qatar hosts it ... that's providing they can rub some Tahitian officials the right way. ;)

I would make one change and that Maicon for Alves. I have not been too impress with Alves but he is scoring.

I'd say Maicon RB and Alves too right midfield. Robinho in this form is a waste spot.

Felipe Melo has a lot of talent but he is not going to play for Brazil again. His idiotic foul on a Dutch player left us w/ 10 men and was a catalyst in our elimination from the World Cup.

Lucas Leiva ? He's been appallingly bad for Liverpool.

And David Luiz is pretty up and down for Benfica at present. Of course club form can be seperate from form for the selecao but still.

    Should be a cracker.

Our interim coach depending if he get's the spot as NT coach (what a farce this has been) may field some new defenders hopefully ie end of Dimi and Heinze 2 walking disasters.

Banega and Pastore should run the midfield.AT LAST......

Enjoy the game and come to the Argentina thread to exchange views. :) We have a thread up and running for it.

I've always liked RG, but I think that now, in the early stages of the 4-year preparation aiming at 2014, he is going to be phased out. Hindsight shows that Dunga could and should have brought him to South Africa. But what now? He's 30 this year; he'll be 34 in 2014. Romario was 32 in 1998 when he was absent and 36 in 2002. Ronaldo conquered the world in 2002, when he was 26. At 30, he was already unfit and fat.

RG worked very hard recently in Milan, before and after the Cup, and he arguably deserved a spot. And he's still working hard. But even if he does come back for this game, and even if he plays superbly, or scores/sets up goals, etc... and then? Will he play in the 2011 Copa America, 12 years after his first tournament (and title win) with Brazil, in the 1999 Copa America?

If he plays vs. Argentina, fine... but I'd then even argue for Lucio and Juan to come back because full-backs last "longer" and they're seasoned, and they'll help vs. Argentina. Otherwise, perhaps it's time to bid farewell to RG and to thank him for a brilliant career.

Note: Romario had a farewell game. I imagine Ronaldo will have one. Rivaldo, who deserved one, did not have one. Will RG have one?

Let us hope re remembers how to run! I would not pick him. Thumbs up re Hernanes though - he should perhaps be the fulcrum of our midfield.
