    Hey guys,
We are about to see MLS history! We need to fill RFK with the sounds of love and admiration the only way Barra knows how. We have been here through a tough season but that is no excuse for not sending out the greatest player without the celebration it is due.

What are you planning for the OCT 23rd?

We have lots of displays that have been completed over the last two weeks that we will be setting up inside RFK. Many of us will going in at noon on gameday to get this up.

Are we going to call for the membership to bring food like the old days? That would be my preference. We could have the grill(s) going to cook food brought by members. Seems to me like there is plenty of time for people to be notified and for the membership to make their tailgate plans.

I am so not looking forward to Jaime Moreno's last game in a DCU shirt. :( :( :(

To me, there is a small group of players who are exemplar DC United players. To name a few:

    Marco Etcheverry
    Mario Gori
    Eddie Pope
    Ben Olsen
    Richie Williams
    John Harkes
    Jeff Agoos
    Carlos Llamosa
    Raul Diaz-Arce

But more than ANY of those guys, Jaime Moreno is the absolute heart and soul of this team, and it's going to suck to see him leave.

I like how you list gori twice!!! That man had heart!!

I miss a gritty 'give his all' outside back like him. :(

Edited. I forgot to mention Geoff Aunger, Tony Sanneh and Scott Garlick too, but not one of the guys I listed in this and my last post is even close to Jaime, at least IMO.

People need to start bringing food in general anyway. The last tailgate was beyond pathetic. I know we're all trying to drink the season away but it would be nice for us non-drinkers to be able to drown our sorrows in brownies or chips and salsa. Just sayin'.

:(I always bring food when I bring guests anyway... however since I am new I only know what I see and I park way in the back .. so I am used to the way we seem to all share what we have... Charcoal.. beer.. liquor... food..

I try at all times not to use La Barra's recources and to contribute by sharing with my immediate tailgate neighbors... I know its been a very hard year...but it is good to be part of the loyal group we are.. to each other and to the team and what it means..

I am very very sad not to be able to attend the last game..:(.. but I have a personal matter that weekend that I can not escape from..

Are we all going to meet up after the final whistle?? I mean do we all meet or have events during the off season..??

I'll be there. Trying to decide if I want to come up to DC a day or 2 early. This will be so bittersweet.

I'll be there. It's a great way to draw down my over supply of beer bought for and not consumed at my daughter's wedding. Not me to be doing the draw down...the Barra multitudes.

I've got a couple of cases of Yuengling and Sam Adams Boston Lager, plus about half a case of Miller Lite. I'll ice it down in a tub to share communally.

I'll be looking for the cooking decision. Frankly, it would be good not to have kitchen duty and just sit around, talk and drink.

this is just an idea... i could get a whooole bunch of smoked stuff catered for the game (think pulled pork, ribs, ect) this way we still get the barra grilled meat experience, without all of the work of firing up the grills... i would be doing it through the restaurant i work at so the price would probably be just barely higher than what we pay for the meat, spices, coal, ect required to run the grills...

anybody on the mood for pulled pork (or beef) barbeque saturday?

This sounds very good, Chris. Talk to Oscar; I'm all for it. It'd also make it easier for the HK folks to enjoy more of the last tailgate of the year. If we went this route, we'd probably still fire up one grill: it's good to have one going for Barra members who bring stuff they want to cook but don't have a grill themselves, which happens fairly frequently. A grill also facilitates keeping stuff warm, and me cooking up something special for the regular HK helpers. But most of the real kitchen work (in terms of person-hours), is in the food prep before and after grilling; that's also what necessitates most of the cleanup afterwards. Bringing bbq like that would definitely help with all that.

I 2nd this, u guys need to chill and enjoy the tailgate. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes of HK and we all are endlessly thankful for what you guys do. I say just bring a truck full of bbq and Pollo Campero and everyone will be happy. Except the vegetarians, but screw them anyways.
