I was just watching a video on Youtube and was surprised to see all the empty seats at the Marseille game at the Parc des Princes last February. They were in the corner of the stadium and consisted of entire sections - too many to be simple segregation. I know how much in demand PSG-OM tickets are and figured that the club would want to sell as many as they absolutely could. I am curious if any of you know why so many seats were left open, presumably unsold.

In this video, the first shot of those sections is at 0:21, while perhaps the best shot is at 0:52.

That was the away section , Marseille supporters had boycott the match because of security reasons .

This season the LPF has banned away fans in general between OM - PSG because of violence between supporters in Marseille last season .

Thanks. I was wondering if that was the away section and that they were not allowed to come for whatever reason (or chose not to, as was the case here). Especially since I did not notice any OM supporters in that clip.

That's too bad. There is nothing like a big game with supporters from both clubs there. Hopefully the relationship between the PSG and OM supporters will soon improve to the level where this is no longer an issue.
