As we were waiting to board the plane from Jburg to Dubai, I sat with a fellow Tri fan from Aguascalientes. We were talking about our brief experiences in Africa and our frustrations, but we both had a feeling that the team's future was extremely hopeful. I made the comment that despite the coach that the FMF hired, the ambiance wouldn't be as hostile and turbulent as the previous 2 cycles. Before their 1st day on the job, people were already criticizing Lavolpe and Hugo. Whether or not the criticisms were valid, the point is that both tenures started very very badly. I am starting to think that the start of this cycle could be more disastrous than the previous two cycles. I honestly did not think it could get any worst than the previous 2 cycles. It took 2 cycles for them (FMF and owners) to realize that it wasn't a good idea for them politicize the managerial position. They made the previous two into a campaign where candidates came in and propose ideas and projects. Now I see a problem on the horizon. When you over plan for something and the results do not go as planned, you question the time and resources that were spent planning. This is what will occur and they (press) are going to have a field day. They will have people question why results are not going as planned. They will have people question the thought process as to why they took so long in their planning process. I just do not have a good feeling about this one. I hope I am wrong
If FMF was as zealous in its efforts to improve the players and the sport as it is in making a buck, then things might change. Until then, I expect much, much, more of the same.
I once heard this saying on the radio; Mexican football is like a soap opera in that you can stop watching it for many years and when you return they are up to the same things. That said, I no longer care.. There was a time when I would listen to the radio waiting for the latest news bit or speculation about the Tricolor. Now, I just don't care because I know how everything will play out. The National Teams performance in World Cup qualifying for example will come down to the match calendar; more specifically how many home games the team starts out with. Once the World Cup rolls around it will come down to which Group Mexico gets to play in and again the order in which they have to face the opponents. So far, we have another second round exit set up if the event was to start tomorrow. And it is more of the same with Copa America and the Gold Cup. So there we have it.. No need to wait four years to see how well the national team will do. Since there is always an exception to the rule I will venture to say that if that one change happens where we see the team play like something specially it will be quite obvious. Othere than that it is more of the same..
I know things have not gone as planned and we have crooks as the FMF bosses... but why so negative? I mean, it really comes down to the players on the field and Mexico has a special kind right now..... why cant they overcome those previously stated setbacks?
Wasn't that supposed to be Mexico's advantage in the last World Cup? the new breed of players?. We all know what happened.
Mexico got shafted by the coach. El vasco la rego the players were there with capabilities to make things happen.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. When Nestor was first appointed as "director de selecciones nacionales", most of us thought it was a step in the right direction, I still do, but now some things are emerging that have to make you question who really is pulling the strings, even though we all know it's the owners. Rafa Marquez and a dozen of the players that were fined, have sent a letter to the FMF where they ask that they re-evaluate Nestor's position and his duties. The FMF made a big mistake by allowing the press to dictate the severity of the situation and then by punishing the players because of the popular demand of these sanctions. Now the players are playing their card and hoping the FMF will get rid of Nestor. This is not going to have a happy ending.
the FMF is a joke like all politicians, the FMF officials are nothing but puppets and it's amazing how much they bend over for the press it's true what they say, the FMF - and most Mexican fut in general - is nothing but one big soap opera lately, it has been making it real hard for me to continue even caring
The players aint backing down. They told the FMF not to call them up until they get their shit together. GOOD FOR THEM! http://www.mediotiempo.com/futbol/s...onados-piden-no-ser-convocados-a-la-seleccion
That makes the novela worse. The points he mentions to expose Nestor's ineptitude are true, but I doubt they are Nestor's alone. I also doubt all three guys will be ousted. At the end of the day it's all three the players should be complaining about, because the bad administration comes from the very top. Why make Nestor the escape goat.? There is more going on here that it has been exposed. Wearing the green jersey should be above all this bullshit, but the fmf made that jersey cheap. The sanction itself is a joke, $4100.00 is nothing for this guys and the six months mean nothing when all they are going to miss is one partido molero. They are upset because of the exposure to the public, but could have easily take the high road on this one, instead they are doing the exact same thing they are upset about by talking to the press like Marquez did and making this letter available. As far as the players asking to to be called up, I find it idiotic. Most of those guys are not indispensable at their own clubs. It is the NT where they are "stars". They may be shooting themselves in the foot.
perhaps because the players are fed up with him and this was the last straw. I am not sure if it was the players that leaked this letter and I am not even sure if the source actually has the letter. If you pay attention to the title of the article, it reads "en supuesta carta, jugadores, ......" At any rate, if it is true what Blanco and Marquez have said that the players have bumped heads with Nester since his arrival, perhaps they are tired of his incoherent nature. If you are told one thing and then told another, and then another, you kind of get tired of it. His incoherence nature is being questioned because the communication is a factor according to Ochoa, Blanco, Marquez, and even Juarez. Ochoa, stated a couple days ago that he was not going to talk about the issue but that the "rules" had many holes. I forgot the term that he used, but quickly said that he would not talk about it and changed the subject.
Agreed. Surely the players aren't so stupid to believe Nestor is the one who "approved" the sanctions. Sutcliffe said that Nestor came up with several different sanctions and that the owners were the ones who made the final decision. Which makes things interesting. Most of the owners that have been interviewed since the incident have spewed the same shit....that the players should be fined and that they must respect the green shirt. From what I can gather, alot of people have turned on the players and the rift seems to be growing by the day....which re-inforces the point that some people don't have the capacity to form their own opinions and are easily swayed by the media. The players aren't upset about the sactions, they're upset about the manner in which Nestor exposed them to the media and more importantly, the manner in which the FMF budged to media pressure and allowed themselves to be swept up in the bullshit. If Rafa wants to do something positive for Mexican footie......he could start by creating a player's comission that isn't affiliated with the FMF or the clubs. He's got nothing to lose.
Blanco shoudn't even be talking. Tiene mucha cola que le pisen. And knowing the press in Mexico, he just put the players on a bad spot by saying "espero que todos mis compañeros del mundila digan que no quieren a Nestor" You know next time they are been interviewed they are going to be asked about that.
I know they are not stupid, which is why they wrote the letter to the FMF president. How do we know if Decio de Maria actually paid the fine when he made obscene hand gestures at the USMNT fans? We have NO WAY OF KNOWING this without having access to the FMF's finances and that will NEVER happen. If the press let off Decio de Maria after being fined in the public arena, and assuming he never paid a fine, why not use the same tactic and just claim that the players would be fined, and laugh at the press when the doors close? That would have been the most practical and sensible thing to do. Act the part, and not do anything. I know they know that playbook because they have mastered it. I would too, after all, i'd rather have the press talk about that as oppose why I can not agree with my fellow club owners and decide who the new NT manager will be. They players know that they were thrown under the bus to divert from the real issue. WHY THE CLIUB OWNERS CAN NOT AGREE WITH CHOOSING A MANAGER? They know this. They have commented on this. It is even mentioned in the letter that the manager should have been chosen rather than have 2 interim managers and have different sets of rules each time. It already exists. BSMX's public enemy number one, Carlos Albert, fought the FMF to establish a players union, but the other players never had the moxy to join and therefore has no power
and did the FMF make a huge scene of it back then? nope the Holy Nery knows what he is talking about see
New Rule (tentative until all the Mods chime in....but in effect immediately): The word "Holy" cannot be used to describe a player in the National Team forum. Thanks. If you want to complain about it, do it via PM to one of the forum Mods. Don't do it here.
The current situation involving the players and the federation is really bad. It is reminding me of the French football situation under Domenech. Incompetence from the top which leads to lack of respect from the players.
the way i see it, these players arent too worried about getting called up. Most of them are already in Europe plying their trade in top leagues, they honestly don't really need the national team exposure(it helps but its not needed). In fact this could help them, by not getting called up to these bullshit games they get a chance to become consolidated in their clubs uninterrupted. The only ones who would need the exposure are ochoa and esqueda, whom lets be real, its extremely difficult for a goalie without a european passport to get bought in europe and esqueda is not exactly tearing up the mexican league. Rafa and cuau have already been there done that, so they really have nothing to lose. This could also be good for the up an comers who need a shot.....
Additionally, If the Mexican team has to play a bullshit game between now and the time where this all gets resolved AND people know that these players won't be getting call ups, do you think people would be more or less inclined to watch or buy tickets? I would be less inclined to buy tickets for sure. The only thing that these bullshit games are for is to raise funds. The players fly in, risk hurting themselves and fly back out. What's the point?
What's the over/under date on Nestor being given the boot. They are supposedly announcing a new coach on October 20, so I will take the under.
