Not necessarily the best or most successful players, but your favorite players of all time. I've only been a fan since 2002, so mine are pretty recent. Also, some play in the different positions now.

    GK: Oliver Kahn

    RB: Willy Sagnol
    CB: Sammy Kuffour
    CB: Thomas Linke
    LB: Philipp Lahm

    RM: Arjen Robben
    CM: Mehmet Scholl
    CM: Owen Hargreaves
    LM: Zé Roberto

    ST: Roy Makaay
    ST: Miroslav Klose

All generally good guys off the pitch, except Kahn, who is a dick, but I love him because he’s such a badass.

Honorable Mentions: Hasan Salihamidzic, Luca Toni, Sebastian Deisler, Bixente Lizarazu, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mark van Bommel, Giovane Elber.

    Great thread....

I'll include only those whom I have seen in action at some point of time in their life. As the original poster has said, they may not be the best, but they are my favorites.

    RB: Jorginho, Sagnol, Reuter

No mention at all for Kahn amongst your favourite goalies?

Never saw brehme play for bayern, but they've had some pretty likeable players in that position...

good call on jorginho...i had forgotten about him, and there was no way reuter and kohler were EVER making this list! ;)

I've heard great things about soren lerby.

ludwig koegl....did not see him at bayern, but a fan favourite of many bayern fans i know.

paulo sergio...one of the leverkusen brigade

    Wohlfart was before my time.

    You forgot klinsmann? :p

Never really cared for him even though he was amazing. Those were the goalies when I was younger and a "hard-core stadium going" fan. I guess you are more impressionable when you are younger.

but Helmer made it? I smell a double standard there:D

I am Klinsmann;) Regardless, I liked Papin but he was hurt and did not play very long. Other guy I liked was Alan McInally but he also had horrible luck with injuries.

that's saying something, given how amazing he was as a keeper

The other two guys moved the right way, unlike helmer. So he makes the wrong team, simple :D

    Rizzitelli? :p

Mine isn't too different from some of the others. I'm just going to list some of my favorite players, too tough to make an XI.

GK: Kahn, no contest. How can you NOT like him as a fan?

Defenders: Lahm, Ziege, Babbel, Helmer, Sagnol, Lizarazu, Lucio

Midfield: Effenberg, Ze Roberto, Ballack, Ribery, Scholl, Didi, Brazzo

    Forwards: Elber, Makaay, Toni

    cwcoach18 aka Klinsmann :p

Why Brehme, he barely played 2 complete seasons and his best years were for Inter and Kaiserslautern. Besides, depending on where you put Lahm, you have Lizarazu and Sagnol, who are arguably better for Bayern than Brehme.
Brehme probably is a better wing back than Lahm, Sagnol or Lizarazu, but for Bayern he hasn't been that great.

    Just my input.

Brehme never felt comfortable at Bayern. The main reason being that he was actually not used as a full back but as a replacement for Sören Lerby in midfield. His shirt number at Bayern was #6. Bayern's full backs in 1986-1988 (when Brehme played there) were Hans Pflügler (left) and Norbert Nachtweih (right). Both actually left-footed.

This pic is from the 1982 German Cup final which saw Bayern turn a 0-2 into a 4-2 against arch rivals Nürnberg.

Second half highlights can be seen here:

    [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxk1aixCUms[/ame]

Hoeness not only scored a goal with his injured head (9:00) but also assisted Rummenigge's goal with a header (1:01).

True, it was hard to put slot him in for me but I liked him for his contributions on the NT as well. It is also tough to compare players from different eras b/c Bayern played different systems. When Brehme, Auge, Pfugler, Nachtweih, and Eder were there we played mostly with a Libero and Vorstopper.

@ proovi: how are you going to tell a 10 year old boy who to like and not like. This is about your favorites not the best line-up or team.

Why do you like ice cream or chocolate? Please no dissertation:p

Thanks for the vid. Was awesome. And on the starting end of both those goals is one of my faves -- Breitner. He was the guy for me when I was shifting out of striker (Bomber FTW!) and into more of a midfield and wing role back in the day. Love the weighting of those deliveries -- and, good god, did Hoeness get some vertical for that header.

Don't know that I could come up with a functional XI because I've always been more of an offensive player than a defensive one and gravitated towards that in my likes, though Lahm definitely got my attention for his runs and interplay.

Don't disagree with any of them. I limited myself to players I saw personally. I am too young to have seen Beckenbauer, Schwarzenbeck, Hansen, Mueller. However, one of my favorite books I read was about the Europapokal der Landesmeister of 1973/1974. Loved it and learned lots about Bayern's history. Don't know the title anymore but I got it out of the Public Library in Eichenau.
