    Hmm.

I'm not normally in the habit of engaging opposing fans on their own boards, but I'm sorry, I can't resist...

No, as you rightfully point out, it's not news. Did you really need an internet link to tell you how polluted LA is?

It would be a bit like me suddenly linking a recent Houston Dynamos story with the thread title:

"HA HA!! The successful incarnation of the Smurfs moved to HOUSTON!!!!"

It's not news, it's not relevant to this forum and starting a thread about it makes you look like a desperate little hater who will use any vague excuse to bag on his rival team.

FYI, there's an entire "rivalries" forum on BS for posting stuff like "El-Lay SUXXXX!!!!" for no reason other than you felt like it.

    Good day.

Our poor wayward friend "barroldinho" doesn't realize that he has it all wrong.

The "rivalries" forum is for "engaging opposing fans" and attempting comebacks to things like "El-Lay SUXXXX!!!!". If you understand the culture of a Quakes fan, you understand that "El-Lay SUXXXX!!!!" is a perfectly normal thing to post or say at any time. Yes, it's obsessive, and that's part of the Quakes fan culture, as well as the in-joke that "barroldinho" clearly does not get.

Then why did you? I don't troll your forum.

I just came across it and thought that it had been a while since we had an "el-lay sucks" thread, so I took it as an opportunity to start a new one! Notice that this is part three!! We've done this before.

I notice that we are above them in the standings and last week we whooped their asses! Kind of like we beat you on August 21st!! :D

Written almost like a low-cal vermin, except that your spelling and grammar are good. It is always relevant to this forum to expressed dislike, loathing, disgust, and revulsion at el-lay and all things el-lay related.

Yes, but if I went to the rivalries forum, I might encounter filth fans like you. I'm not interested in arguing with you. I'm not trying to rub your nose in how much you and your city suck. I'm just celebrating the superiority of San José to smogville.

    Piss off, weasel.

    This was fun!

    GO QUAKES!! :D
    $#%& el-lay!!

Why do we care? Are we playing them this week? I gazed north and saw a disgusting brown cloud over the bay today. Big ********ing deal.

I hate the Galaxy. LA just happens to be where they play.

I love this thread already.

LA SUCKS! If your a Galaxy fan and those words offend you, then stay out of this part of the forum. This is the San Jose forum, not the be nice to your rival forum. In the words of South Park, "we don't take kindly to your kind!"

NO YOUR AEG OWNERS inherited a team free of charge and moved our Quakes club to Houston. In the meantime, they also stole our best player! Remember? Anywhere else in the world, they would be relegated and players and GM's and everyone else involved with the club would all be banned! Its the truth and if you don't believe this, then you are no fan of and have no knowledge of the game....

That figures, falvo. Neither the Smellay nor the Orange-pus fans realize what a low-life owner they've got. Just as long as they're getting the largesse, it doesn't make any difference how corrupt AEG is.

The worst part is their fans and ignorant fans across the league keep on wanting to believe how good and righteous their owners are and how they "saved the league". Please! They are swine!

LA sucks, the Galaxy suck, and AEG sucks too. It's not as if there's a limited amount of suckiness and we have to ration it. Plenty enough to go around!

We have a saying here in LA, if you can't see it don't breathe it. SMOG is like vodka; colorless and oderless. Clear air is so over rated! If clean air was so good, everyone not viewing the Pacific Ocean in the California would live here....;)

Ah, Sunday morning, Quakes continue their progress to the playoffs. I think I will celebrate with a nice run in the park where I can drink in the fresh air and then inhale some vodka and fresh orange juice this morning. So many choices!

I apologise. I didn't realise that this was part of Quakes culture. I was looking through the websites "new posts", clicked on the LA-related thread.

My reaction was "what a childish, bitter douchebag. It's this kind of stuff that gives the smurfs a bad name" and I posted to that effect.

Had I realised that this mentality was the norm here, I would never have made the comment.

I would also like to thank you for your enlightenment about the move. I'm relatively new to the US and California (4.5 years), so I simply believed the written history that it was Alexi Lalas who traded away Donovan's rights and that the Houston move was a combo of not being able to get an SSS in San Jose and there being an untapped soccer market in Texas.

I had no idea it was a conspiracy or that Los Angeles Galaxy was the center of the Quakes universe.

    Thanks for the info.

The "written history" apparently didn't include Donovan's meeting with AEG in LA before going to Germany ("why don't you come back and play with the Galaxy!"). Nor did it include the fact that AEG could have easily "gotten" a stadium in SJ with the money that they are spending on it in Houston (~$80 million I believe, whereas they would only offer to contribute $15 million here), and that you don't need to relocate a team in order to tap an "untapped soccer market". There's this new-fangled thing called "expansion" that enables leagues to enter "untapped" markets.

It's called a "rivalry" - it's pretty big in soccer. And if you want to do a rivalry toe for toe thing, there's a forum for that called the "Rivalries" forum.

And, by the way, it's "apologize" and "realized". :)

Also, only having been here for 4.5 years, the LA fan may be unaware of some of the history between our two teams, including MLS Cup 2001 and the 2003 playoffs, and why LA fans call that day "Black Sunday" while San Jose fans call it "The Greatest Game in MLS History". He might want to review that before considering why San Jose fans might be a little bitter that their owner at the time, who also happens to own the Galaxy, decided to take their team away.

Here's a helpful video for review:

Not really, depending on how you define "sporting rivalry, no matter how strong and heated" and "opposing team a focal point of your general attention". Those are both very unclearly defined terms. There's an aspect of rivalry that is obsessive, and when taken to extreme it becomes over-the-top in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way - something that you clearly don't seem to get. No need to be so serious, Brit ex-pat Gal newbie dude.

No "u" in "favor", by the way. :)
