Djalminha was very good but too inconsistent to make his name last sorry ... Denilson's best form ever was from 1997 to 1998 and that WAS IT ... not enough ...
Johan Cruijff smoked as well, just as Juan Lozano did. George Best drunk too much... Still they were able to dribble the defenders all the way ! Seems it was an advantage to drink/smoke
Could you imagine Messi or C. Ronaldo getting away with a night out on the town and playing a game the next day I don't think so
Cristiano Ronaldo is the best, Messi is second. Adel Taarabt and Javier Pastore are two young dribblers with very good skills also.
CR is in no way a better dribbler than Messi. Messi can dribble many players one after the other and he has proved it this season again. cristiano is more about tricks but less about going passt whole defences. Messi's ball control and game intelligence is definitely superior to CR, and lets not forget he is also 2 years younger.
I would have to say that right now, it has to be Messi. Taking absolutely nothing away from Cristiano, but there is nobody who consistently completes dribbles while at the same time displaying rare ball control and lightning quickness like Messi.
In the videos ive seen Ronaldinho definatly stood out alot more than any other player, in real game play, the player that stood out the least to me was christano ronaldo, Click Here to make your choice on whos the best!
Ariel Ortega... if we are talking about just dribbling ability he is the best- far better than ronaldo or messi. its laughable that ronaldo is even in this discussion [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozRUYzKiDSI"]YouTube- Ariel ORTEGA dribbling compilation - christinayan[/ame]
For players currently playing: Messi, Cassano, Pato, Ronaldinho, Joaquin, Ribery, Robben, and McCourt.
sorry but no way. and look at his goals. Most of them are one-touch finishes. dribbling skill means going past player after player, and doing it very often, something players like Messi, Ronaldo, or George Best among others have done.
I think that can be over-emphasized. Xavi is an incredible dribbler, but he doesn't use his skills on the ball to go past players, because he can't generate the speed/acceleration in his legs to do so. He uses his dribbling to shield the ball and to make the turns necessary to make a good pass. Riquelme does this as well.
it is fair to say that Xavi has great ball control, but I consider Iniestas style more close to that of a dribbler. great natural dribblers not only have pace and acceleration, but are also more daring by nature to other players.
I havent read this whole thread, but if cruyff has not been mentioned by most people as the best dribbler of all time, this forum is a farce, people on it know nothing about football, and I will never come on this website again.
i agree that cruyff was great. saying he is the best dribbler of all time is a big thing to say though. cruyff had great dribbling ability, and incredible changes in speed. a defenders nightmare.
Maybe you should have at least read 3 posts into it before making posts like that, the OG specified this in his 3rd post: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=19210173&postcount=4
This is the list of "best dribblers" thru out history ... not in order 1st tier: Pele, Garrincha, Zizinho, Zico, G.Best, Cruyff, Maradona, Ronaldo Ronaldinho 2nd tier: Rivelino, Romario, Van Basten, Baggio, Mathews, Zidane, Jairzinho, Okocha, and lately .. Messi ... or "possibly" C.Ronaldo & Rivaldo & Kaka ... Messi and Rivelino are in fact very close to 1st tier level ...
[Agreed, I saw Cruyff play live quite a few times: I even saw him play in the NASL for both the Aztecs & the Diplomats. He's one of the all-timers when on the ball, but to say that he's undoubtedly a better/more effective dribbler than the likes of Best, Garrincha, Maradona, Pele, Sir Stan, etc., is a bit of a stretch IMO.]
[Agree w/you 100% here: I do rate Ibrahimovic as a player, but you're giving him WAY too much credit here, sternsoccer (IMO).]
luiz nazario de lima ronaldo, thats the first player that i think of when some one mentions dribling...... He is in an amazing player.
I think this is kind of a soft topic because in contemporary soccer there is almost no role for dribblers. The emphasis in the most successful teams is on passing (Barca, Spain, Germany) or quick counter-attacks started with the full-backs (Inter, Brazil). The only players who are consistently allowed to dribble on their teams and do it really effectively IMO are Robinho, Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, and Cassano. Robinho's especially nice to watch.
