It looks like Cavegol will be moving to Mallorca:

Hopefully he gets more playing time and returns to his old form in Spain.

Many think his time for la seleccion has passed, especially now that we have so many talented forwards (Higuain, Aguero, Tevez, Milito, Lavezzi, Zarate, L. Lopez, etc.). Still, Cavenaghi is only 26 and could be an interesting option for the NT if he does indeed return to his old self.

He is an oustanding striker and clever intelligent player. He made some poor career choices. Starting off with an attempted move to Birmingham City ,then Spartak.

Then the fool Blanc benched him so making him lose his chance for the WC. Give him chances he will score and perhaps this move will see him back in the seleccion reckoning.

I'd have preferred he move to a stronger Liga side ie Villareal but anything is better than bench warming at Bordeaux.

Let's be honest here, you really think Diegote would have called him even if he was playing on a regular basis?

Laudrup doesn't seem to like Cavenaghi because he is too slow, that he is a penalty box player and doesn't suit the style he has Mallorca playing.

Will probably return to Bordeaux in January although Lazio are being linked.

I'd like him to move to Malaga with Pellegrini, he knows what he's capable of and how to get the best out of him.

I am a big supporter of Passarella, but his situation with Cavegol is just infuriating. Both these guys need to put their egos aside and work away for which he can return home. If Cavegol were to come back and partner with Pavone, I have no doubt in my mind we would win the clausura... I also want to see this great player back in form, and a return to his house, i know he would be back to his best, but this is not going to happen, and if cavegol is true to his word that he won't play for river while passarella is president, well then we may never see him in nuñez again, unless its in the popular :(

He's failed everywhere in Europe, maybe it's not the coaches, or style, or culture...just him not being as good as advertised.

I still think he's a great player, one thing is sure though, it is a waste of talent of epic proportion. He should try his luck in Italy, maybe this particular league will fit better his characteristics.

He is a great player. Speedwise he is not that slow either.

Laudrup just does not seem to know how to use him. Odd considering he played with someone like Elkjaar who was a similar style of clever striker of decent pace only.

Cavegol has the talent .He showed it at Bordeaux. Just another bad choice of club as at Spartak where the coach also did not like him.

A return home could see him light it up for the Copa. So much ability.

I wouldn't say he has failed everywhere.

At Bordeaux he played a major role in winning a fair few trophies including the league title.

It's not his fault Blanc decided to go defensive and play one upfront.

He failed at Spartak which i imagine the majority expected and he hasn't been really given a chance at Mallorca.

Agreed about Italy MSI. It could be that he just goes back to Bordeaux for the rest of this season though.

Whatever happens, his next club has to be the right one, playing the right way where the manager wants him.

its ludicrous to say he failed every where. he scored 22 goals in 2008, how is that failing? he scored 15 the next year.

Trust me, I wish there was a way to get Cavenaghi and Passarella to sit down and work out their differences. It would be exactly what he needs to resurrect himself, plus what River needs which is the return of a true 9. However, if they don't work it out, i doubt cavegol will ever be able to go home b/c it seems likely passarella will be reelected in 2014 (if things continue on the same path)

Cav got an assist for the second goal and also hit the post for the third goal (someone tapped in the rebound).

A good start for him although a goal would have been nice...
