Re: Bob Bradley gets 4-year extension...incredible

My initial reaction is mild disappointment that we won't get to see what Klinsmann could have done, but as I said in the other Bradley thread, I can't name any American manager that I think would be drastically better.

exactly 4 more years of 100% counter attack soccer, 4 more years of bunkering down against every team from Haiti to Mexico to Brazil. 4 more years of taking a 1 goal lead and giving up possession and trying to hold on. I am so disappointed, I really though after we got schooled by a young Brazil team because we gave them a foot 5 foot cushion when they had the ball.

no. we do not play counter attacking. We play defensive (but not organized), then slowly get the ball aimlessly to our midfielders, whose poor touch means they hastily pass back to the fullbacks who launch it aimlessly upfield. Where Findley is waiting. That is not counter-attacking. That is no-attacking.

I don't think its exactly going to be 'boring soccer', I just wanted to see someone see what they could do with the defense.

I just hope and pray that it works out, no way am I going to root against the team just because I don't agree with the coaching decision.

i'm pretty ambivalent about Bradley at this point, and certainly wouldn't have complained about fresh blood. But you have to admit -- it's pretty awesome watching some of you go nuts about this.

Four more years of a guy you've decided you despise. Surely you can see the humor in this. The rest of us do.

There's a difference between blind optimism and seeing how bad and unorganized this team is. I guess you just don't care enough.

Count me in on the disappointed list. I was hoping for Klinsman.......we need a new direction, new philosophy, new mindset. Bradley did get practically the most out of a decent(but not great) U.S. squad in SA. I am sure he is thrilled to be locked in with a 4 year contract. I wonder what happened with Villa. Do you think he was offered a contract? If so, I am sure it was a 1 or 2 year deal max. The 4 year deal is surely comforting from his perspective. I was just hoping for something new and better. Bradley doesn't suit either of those traits for me......not that he's a bad coach.

    STALE is the word.

Who would've questioned Arena's cred after 2002, but he got horribly, horribly stale by 2006.

Lippi won the World Cup...and grew stale as month-old bread by 2010.

Can anyone name a national team head coach who topped his first 4-year performance with his 2nd?

I think what you meant to say is that there's no difference between blind optimism and blind pessimism.

jee, I love how I am blind, despite posting a clear problem that Bob has struggled to fix over the past 4 years, while you are busy calling people "blind" and blindly thinking Bob is a genius

If you call what we played over the last couple of years boring, there's not a country in the world that would excite you.

Whatever our other faults, it wasn't being boring. Rather, it was more like being a little too exciting for our own good.

you mean other than 3 games in the world cup, in which the "exciting" you are talkiing about is guys like Landon, Michael, and Clint/Green bailing out our boring tactics? I guees you missed all the games before the WC.

Well this sucks because BS is now going to be dominated by Fire Bradley after every one of the games no matter the result, because of a decision he made or a stupid play by one of "his boys". I thought it was bad after he performed past what i thought was his potential.
This is the way I look at it.
    1)He is respected internationally.
2)I dont know one player who has ever said openlythey do not like Bradley or anything that Bradley has done.
    3) The USSF has confidence in him

I see. You get to describe others' viewpoints as "blind," but nobody gets to describe yours that way.

Also, I think you're mistaking me for someone who didn't just say he's ambivalent about Bob Bradley.

Re: Bob Bradley gets 4-year extension...incredible

The U.S. did not bunker and counter at the World Cup. In fact they created more chances in the Ghana game than any of the previous 3. I just watched it again and it's shocking to me that we didn't win that match by 2 or 3. Not to mention the plethora of bad luck we had in the other games. Our achilles heel was mental lapses by the defense and our inability to finish. If we had better players this would not have been an issue. We don't and no coach is changing that.

Let us not forget: The entire backline needs to be reconstructed and Bob is a defensive coach. That's not a bad thing IMO.

^THIS is what people SHOULD be worried about. It's only natural for a coach to stick with the guys that got him results using the tactics that got those results. The USMNT pool needs to be re-assessed with a neutral eye, and I think it will be difficult for Bob to do that for obvious reasons.

I just think it's funny that you are continually accusing me of being "blindly" negative when I am posting clear problems that any fan will acknowledge (unorganized defense, no attack, findley)

"Continually"? Say what? I wrote one comment about "blindness" -- and it was quoting you!
