Just a random thread for stories, observations, good Youtubes, jokes, etc. Also a good repository for stories involving smaller clubs that might not fit in a current thread. Let's get it started: That Ricky van Wolfswinkel kid..not bad eh? Hat trick inside 46 minutes - albeit with two penalties - and not a bad goalscoring record for Utrecht. It'll be good to see European football at the Galgenwaard.
Could someone post what kind of striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is?? Is he senior Oranje material?? Which past player do you compare him to the most?? From what I seen he's not yet Oranje material so far. He could be in the future though with a bit of maturing
i reckon he's the next van nistelrooy, although a foreign girl told me he reminds her a bit of rvp in terms of looks lol. ricky can score from outside the box so he has one thing over ruud already (canard) if huntelaar doesn't sign for spurs asap or schalke even, i can see ricky being called up sooner than later since milan just isn't working for klaas jan. same goes for koevermans and psv. ricky, luuk & luc (and hopefully geoffry) are probably the future oranje strikers when the likes of kuyt and rvn retires (both klaas jan and robin are 27 so probably have some decent years in them left).
Wolfswinkel is a tall, skinny, all-round striker. But lacks any specific qualities to make it to the international top if you ask me.
Unfortunately, thats exactly what I was thinking. He strikes (no pun) me as a junior type player who does well in U-21 tournaments, but will never be world class. I hope he proves me wrong though
I believe he so scrumptious is a believer in v Wolfswinkel, me personally I'm very sceptical. He did score a hattrick against Celtic, but I have to see it more often from him to be able to say he is ready for a club as Liverpool or something. I'm very worried if he is the one that has to take over from the current Oranje striker generation. Altough v Persie did not particularly well at the WC I think he has far more quality.

Look at these stats whilst playing at mediocre clubs and at such a young age. Edit: ok, that copy-paste didn't work out. here are the stats: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricky_van_Wolfswinkel
I wasn't even sure he was on the pitch against Twente yesterday. I quite literally did not notice him.
I'd like to (eventually) see Luuk de Jong get a try at Oranje striker. He looks much more talented IMO Two of those 3 goals were PK's. Just sayin
v Wolfswinkel is being linked with Newcastle apparently. But then that could all be 'agent talking' too.
if that's the sum to go by, i think newcastle will find it very hard to find the funding considering what supersewelly (sp?) has said in the twente thread about the toons finances.
I don't think Van Wolfswinkel is ready to move on just yet. He still needs to get stronger and work on some aspects of his game. He would do well to look at Ryan Babel's experience with Liverpool and not repeat it.
i still stand by that statement agree with orange14, ricky is too young to consider a move abroad and especially liverpool who have a bad track record since the sinama-pongolle and le tallec days. much to contrary belief, luuk de jong is not an academy player from twente. he already played a season of first flight footie at de graafschap before moving to fc twente's 1st team in 2009, while siem de jong joined ajax' academy in 2005.
That's what's generally agreed over on the Toon boards too. Either "we don't have that kind of money" or "at this point, he's not worth that much money out of us" is how it has been expressed. In all, it feels like 'let's make some buzz in the market this window and see if his form attracts more attention in the future' maneuvering.
As if? He's likely to make them stronger at least. I think that's good enough. Also, I'm very interested in seeing him play and would applaud this. He's a Vitesse man as well. You're not threatened, are you?
Threatened? Have you checked the league table lately? A club that sells its soul to a dodgy business consortium doesn't have my support, sorry. The last time I saw Barazite play was for the Holland under 21s and he was crap!
Another case of a young player with signs of €s in his eyes and playing time for a big time club. Unfortunately, he forgot that 99% of the time it doesn't work out and he ends up in the bowels of Euro football. All too sad.
He's 20 years old, probably richer than any of us and would likely be no better off if he had stayed at NEC. I don't think it's sad at all.
This thread is getting too serious...Time to kick it up a notch. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc9xq-TVyHI"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc9xq-TVyHI[/ame]

It's not sad, just stupid short-term thinking that's all. Hardly surprising considering that the IQ of the average footballer equals that of a stoeptegel.
