If he goes to Europe it would be great following him but personally if he stays I will be more than happy to watch live 1-2 times a year. I would probably feel different if he were say 22-24.
If Landon Donovan does "Dancing with the Stars" I'm going to have to tune in just for the laugh. He really is one of the worst dancers on the planet. I hate to say it, but I'm not sure we see Landon go back to Europe again... Certainly his chances of being bought outright seem to be over. Perhaps there are some loans again in the future--but at the same time, how many years does Landon plan to play almost non-stop football? He's knocking on his 30s door....
Well, he's made his mark. Without Landon, USA would have been three-and-out in the WC. We all know that. And he's been fundamental to the growth of the sport in the USA. Dozens of kids post on YouTube saying how he's been such an inspiration. Not to mention Facebook and other soccer boards. Whether he stays in the USA or not, the man has made his mark. He seems to enjoy doing his best to promote the MLS, and staying close to friends and family. I don't think it was lack of ambition, but the intelligence to live life where he was loved the most, and where he could have the biggest positive impact.
Everton Dropped points again today. So thats 1 point over 3 league games. I guess this is what happens when you are cheap. Donovan could have easily changed the complection of these games. SMH....
No kidding. Is someone going to do this every week? How did Everton do? Could Donovan have helped? OMG Everton sucked, Donovan would've helped. Everton only scored 3, w/ Donovan it would've been 5.
There is the rumor of ManU offering Carrick plus 15M GBP for Rodwell. If that were to occur (admittedly doubtful), then they might be willing to splash half to 2/3 of that on Donovan. Getting such a double move to occur before the deadline though, makes it even more doubtful.
On loan in January wouldn't be the worse thing that could happen. He would give them a nice 10 game push. I always thought they would be better selling Fellini sp? and using the $$ to sign LD and Edu or Mikey and player x but maybe the time has passed for that to work
Carrick would be an interesting addition to that team. I think Utd have lost a bit of faith in him. Of course the source of that rumor is the Sun.
As a Donovan supporter who would love to have him back at Everton, I have to say that Moyes would be silly to part with Rodwell at this point.
Well, I would imagine that Moyes has no interest in selling Rodwell, however he may have little say in the matter.
After watching the Villa-Everton match on Sunday, Everton could really use LD. They dominated possession but had a lot of difficulty breaking the back 4 of Villa. They need LD's speed on the wings. If they don't acquire a quick outside midfielder it will be a long season for them.
I love Landon, I want him back at Everton, I do, however... If I had a choice between having Rodwell for the five years that he's signed at least, or having Donovan and Carrick, the choice is easy. The kid is going to be huge for England when his day comes.
as a fan, you'll definitely want carrick and donovan. Yeah, Rodwell is a fantastic prospect, but 1. what if he doesn't pan out? Donovan and Carrick over Rodwell would be a steal. 2. If he does pan out, he is only one player, and will be away with the national team a lot (increasing chance of injury). But that's not the big thing. If Rodwell reaches his potential, he will be a Man U in less than 5 years. And fans will want someone with the money they recieve from the transfer, but why not get two experienced, PL-proven players now?
I love all of the pundits who say he'll go in the summer, then summer goes by then its he'll go in the winter. Then winter comes and goes and repeat.
Well, I hate to channel my inner Buzz Killington, but the transfer window has come and gone and since Landon hasn't made a move I think it's time to let this thread go. I'm sure we'll have rumors/news in advance of the winter window and I'm also sure that I'm not alone in hoping LD will someday be on his way back to Goodison Park, if only to slip a ring onto Arteta's Girl's waiting finger.
