That red card for Bianca Schmidt was kind of stupid.
Not a good game for Germany, I hope they will do better in the next matches.

NZ leads Sweden 1-0 at the half. Both team had a chance or two but Sweden had better chances.

    [Sweden-New Zealand]
56' 1-1 New Zealand ping left-to-right just behind midfield. Bad sliding backpass under duress, too soft -- it's perfectly weighted for #9 Sofia Jakobsson(?) running onto it at 35m 6-left! She stumbles through a last-ditch challenge at 25m, regains footing and carries to 9m 6-left -- then cuts back to #15 Antonia Göransson at 14m left post in the trailing 2-v-2. Göransson shoots low right(?), deflected(?) point-blank by defender, wrong-foots #20 Erin Nayler and rolls in at the left post low.

61' 1-1 New Zealand cross high to #14 Renee Leota at 17m box top 6-right. Her header re-cross "fails" most insidiously -- rockets 4m leftward and hard off #5 Elin Borg's nose (which makes Borg turn around with hands on knees -- takes her out of the play :D), and rebounds softly to Leota's foot! Leota bursts in alone :p to 11m mid-right (between 6-right and box right), and blasts off the crossbar center. FIFA requires Borg to exit field into (her) left touch. Magic nasal spray ...

67' 2-1 #15 Antonia Göransson in a 1-v-2 at box top wide left, gets a half-step lead, and just keeps going -- dribbles to 4m 6-left! Göransson shoots low, #20 Erin Nayler slides and blocks it as Göransson hurdles her -- and it reflects off Göransson's shins and rebounds in the direction of her run, mini-lobs everybody into the right side netting.

Can anyone in the USA (who does not have the cable provider) get this live ?

90+2:20" (of 3') 2-1 New Zealand pushes up desperately at 40m left, Sweden slide-tackle it out for a corner kick. New Zealand left corner, curls to 5m center -- #5 Briony Fisher(?) clean header, saved by #12 Hilda Carlen, rebound skitters flat (NZ's) left to 1m left post, a Fern just misses a lunging header there. Sweden clear it into left touch. New Zealand curl another cross to 3m center -- directly to Carlen, she spills it again, and NZ's poachers are 1m out of position to benefit. Sweden clears, full time.

All U-20 WWC matches are live on ESPN3. That's how I watched it. AFAIK, you no longer need any cable agreement to get ESPN3, as in the stone ages of ESPN360. (Good thing, since atdhe showed no U-20 match streams at all.)

FIFA loves ESPN now -- they probably see each other as their ticket to $$. The rights fees for the U-20 WWC must have been tiny compared to the full WC, so it makes sense for ESPN to push their brand into the post-WC hangover gap.

What do you mean you don't need a cable agreement to get ESPN3 (espn3.com). I tried to log on there, and it says... "ESPN3.com is available at no charge to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection from an ESPN3.com affiliated internet service provider. ESPN3.com is also available to fans that access the internet from U.S. college campuses and U.S. military bases. Your current computer network falls outside of these categories."

Is there another way for me to get this? Is it available to everybody, or am I screwed? I have Road Runner high speed internet.

-- You must be in the U.S., as far as I know, to watch the ESPN3 matches online.

-- And even if you're in the U.S., your ISP still needs to have an agreement with ESPN in order to watch the matches.

The only alternatives would be to find a bootleg stream online somewhere. I know FIFA was broadcasting them, but only to certain countries. Also, Eurosport will be showing some of the matches online, but again, you need to be within a certain country.

VPNs are a good way to get around getting blocked by foreign Web sites. Most are a subscription service (I pay $9.95/month for multiple countries) and your computer routes through a foreign computer before accessing a Web site, giving them the impression you're in that country.)

I don't know what matches Eurosport will be carrying, but it might be worth looking into for those of you who really want to see the matches.

Thanks. I tried "Hotspot Shield" (supposed to the be the #1 free VPN on the web), and it screwed up my connection, and I thought it gave me a virus at first. Just in case, I restored my computer to yesterday, and I certainly won't try that again.

Does your $9.95 type of VPN work on espn3.com ???
If so, which one is it? Thanks.

VPN's won't help with the service provider stuff ESPN3 demands. I mean, there's a chance you could get past it, but I wouldn't bother. The only reason I mentioned was in case someone wanted to access the Eurosport or some other foreign streams.

Oh, and I use Overplay.net and they've been great. You download a tiny app that turns it on and off and there's even a little pull down menu for what country server you want.

Eurosport are carrying quite a few, though not all live. I pay 4 GBP for a month of online Eurosport coverage (Eurosport and Eurosport 2), then pay about 10 GBP for a VPN tunnel to be able to specify which version of the Eurosport player I watch.

However, fifa.com seems to have most matches available for free via their webpage for a lot of locations, so just having a European VPN (like the Overplay option Bonnie mentions) and then watching the match via fifa.com's match centre should work. I was able to pull up the Sweden match live from fifa.com via a UK VPN, but it would probably have worked from a variety of Overplay's servers.

As Bonnie Lass said, it varies from ISP to ISP. I have AT&T DSL, and I get access to ESPN3. My friend who lives nearby has Earthlink DSL, and he can't get to it. It's a strange arrangement.

Thanks. I will be busy while these matches are on live.
Is there anywhere on the Internet to watch these matches "on demand" instead of having to watch them live (i.e. full match replay) ???

    Thanks.

Yes, if you do get access to espn3, all matches are replayed on demand (although I think it takes several hours before they are available for replay).

Did anyone mention there are links listed on myp2p.eu?

Is Mexico using the 12 or 13 American girls that Cuellar talked about before CONCACAF qualifying?

Unfortunately, looking for U.S.A. v. Ghana I found Eurosport showing the Tour de France.

First half agains Ghana definitely disappointing for the US team. What's this obsession with old English-style long balls? There doesn't seem to be much passing game. They don't look like Tony DiCicco's team from 2008.

Yesterday's national team's friendly with Sweden was disappointing, too. Good passing game, but whenever there was an opportunity to score, strikers would freeze and look for someone to pass the ball to. Today, the U-20 team has neither the passing game nor finishing. Hope something will change in the second half.
