Spain fully deserved to win. Only issue is that the Dutch were allowed to stay in the game when they should have been down to 10 players in the 1st half. Dreadful performance from the Dutch, no effort to play football just to hack down the Spanish and hope for a lucky break on the counter.

overall i agree with this - not entirely but for the most part. taking this game alone, spain was more than netherlands. if we are talking about merits and counting the ref who had a subpar game

And Iniesta should have been red carded in the second half

A load of whining losers will now complain about diving or some shite. Great side, one of the best national teams of all time and deserved winners.

They beat Portugal, Germany and Holland. You can't ask for more.

And yet, they should have won this 2-0 if Robben didn't bottle it - TWICE.

Really, you can say Spain were the better team but in the end, they needed a horrible call from the referee who seemed biased in their favor all game long to win in extra time. Not exactly impressive. A very disappointing Final from a neutral's point of view. Actually, as far as the on field stuff, a very disappointing World Cup, which is a shame because the South Africans deserved better after making it happen and happen well despite the naysayers.

Can't say I feel too sorry for the Dutch....they didn't even try to attack...they got exactly what they deserved for playing so negatively.

And Webb had the 2nd highest cards per match average entering the Final...it's not like they didn't know he was going to be strict....he's a policeman after all.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Uruguay Vs Germany was a much better game. Embodied everything I love about the game: passion, determination, and great goals. This...this just sucked.

Can't wait to see the replay of that goal on youtube, there's something fishy about it.

you aren't going out on a limb. germany vs uruguay was a better match but also it didn't need to be as tactical as this one for the cup

I didn't really care who won today. I guess deep inside I wished that whatever team showed up and dove/hacked/complained the least would win.

This game result feels really really empty for me. I didn't see a better team on the field and both sides were guilty of drama. I had no trouble changing channels as soon as I saw the result. I'm not mad at the result.... just empty. No emotion.

Terrible ball, it affected the games in a negative way. Terrible officiating, it affected the games in a negative way. Terrible attitude by a lot of the players. Damned Vuvuzelas. Not enough being done by FIFA to stop all the drama.

I have been to one World Cup and two Euro Cups. I am a huge fan of the game. This world cup tasted like bland oatmeal. Oh well.

Congratulations to the new champions, Spain.

How is a clear red on a kick to the chest a horrible call against Spain. I really don't understand that at all. Can you please explain how that was not a direct red card? And if it was...and the ref didn't give it...how can you say the ref's were all for Spain to win and gave them the benefit of the doubt. It really doesn't make sense to me at all.

For one, if the ref was trying to make up for not sending off the dutch player. In any other game, Iniesta should of been thrown off. There were too many instances where he was afraid to card the "big guys".

Oh and for me, the crap stained boot goes to none other than Fernando Torres. What a joke he was this cup.

Hahaha the bitterness here is amazing. They were always expected to be favourites and to win it. Deserved in the end although didn't impress a lot.

    Amazing how jealous people are!

The Dutch were probably more anti football.
