This needs repeating. I binned a few posts since a few of you decided to ignore the above post.

Keep the conversation on topic, people.

Germany has to score the first goal otherwise we will be up for a hollywood movie with Heinze and co, I just wish all the argentine players had the drive of Tevez and Messi who have no love for diving and antics.

There is always a first. ;) And when Germany and Spain play the semis against each other, there is a real chance to beat Brazil in the finals. For each team.
And maybe Brazil is already eliminated till then. Maybe by Ghana. Ok, this is more lika a Xmas wish than a real chance, but... with some luck? I really would love Ghana to win the WC. Although it´s highly unlikely.

Now btt. The longer the result is 0-0, the more Argentina will have an advantage. They are the team with much more experience (although Messi and Tevez e.g. are not older than the German squad), and when it comes to a close end, experience in such situations is really important.
But I hope, it won´t be too long a 0-0. And I think it really unlikely as the attack on both sides is stronger than the defense.

South Korea tried to attack Argentina, and lost 4-1. Mexico tried to attack Argentina and lost 3-1.

Germany is smarter tactically, I think they will counterattack. Should be a very good game.

Mod Note: Just a friendly reminder that videos are only fine if they are directly related it the actual match i.e. analysis, tactics......videos of supporters should be posted in the partisan forum and not here as this is supposed to be a neutral forum. Thanks:)

Korea sucks and Argentina were getting owned until they got an off-side goal from their only chance in the first 20 minutes. I doubt Germany will go all out attack but as we saw the game between Mexico and Argentina, they got totally rattled so perhaps it would be a good idea.

I want Argentina out, I want the Albiceleste gone, Germany I want them to win this match and for Germany to beat them because if they can do that, all they would have to do is neutralize Messi and Higuain, and expose their defence and they can do that with Ozil and Muller and Schweinsteiger and Khedira, and Germany's defence is much better than Argentina albeit that Germany's defence is younger than Argentina's defence, which will help them, and with Klose and Podolski that dangerous 1-2 punch, they will beat Argentina, Germany wins this match in penalties like they did in 2006

If I were Maradona I would put the 3 midgets on top
    Messi, Tevez and Aguero

they would drive Mertesacker and the rest of the german defense crazy

I hope Germany wins, Germany and England both have lopsided rivalries against Argentina, and I was pretty sure one of these teams would eliminate Argentina.

I confuse this thread with this other:

It would be nicest to move the post instead of deleting.

Those players and the whole German team got totally controlled (physically, tactically and technically) by the Argies in a friendly played in Munich (0:1) just a few weeks before the World Cup started (to Germany's defence has to be mentioned that this team on that night had never played together in that formation before) ... so I doubt that Maradona will be very scared (despite Germany's 4:1 over England).

Although Argentina's only real weakness is their defence (Demichelis tends to have "blackouts" pretty often), I don't think that the German strikers will get many scoring opportunities. In my eyes, it's either gonna be a tactical game (like the last 2 matches between both teams) ... or we'll get outplayed by the Argies if they manage to score an early goal.

Well, as everybody knows your team's style very well (controlling the game with a lot of possession - like Spain) ... anything else would be a huge surprise. ;)

About the "very good game" hopes: I'm sceptical and rather expect a tough fight like 2006 with few brilliant moments ... unless you score an early goal or Messi gets a "dream day".

As it says in the post, Argentina.
This is such a horrible logic, I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry. Since when do friendlies give any real indication of how good a team is? This is almost as hilarious as some American fans thinking that US is tier 1 team because they beat Spain in the tinfoil friendly cup last year.

Maradona has no tactics, the difference however is that his team can outplay Germany simply because of individual brilliance. They have many class players that can score at any time. What hasn't been tested yet is their mental strength in this tournament and it probably will be vs Germany unless Argentina scores early and just runs away with the win vs Germany.

That's an odd thing to say. I mean which players? I didn't see anybody particularly rattled.

I meant in general they were being outplayed and they had no idea how to respond. They looked lost when things weren't going their way until the goal, in which they got their confidence back and it was a smooth ride from then on.

Nope, what was it? I can imagine something along the lines "They beat us the super duper important friendly that tells everything I need to know about both teams. They also play in the super duper EPL league which is the best in the world, it's the awesumeee one and world class players like Lampard, Gerrard and WAG banger Terry will be too much for German players to handle since they only play in the Bundesliga. Only if they play at their bestest ever and England don't cope can they beat them, since we saw the super duper important friendly how the two teams fared with one another."

    Am I close?

I don't think anybody was rattled. Who do you have in mind?

If anything our players were a bit too complacent at the start. But it only lasted 15 minutes or so. Then they started controlling the ball and didn't let up until the game was out of reach.

And give some credit to Mexico for their fast start. They also started very strong against South Africa, France and Uruguay. Their problem -other than the France match- was sustaining it for the whole match. I think Argentina waited them out in the early stages and then took over.
