I agree, he stopped a sure to be goal 5th minute, only for us to score after as well as an assist for a full-back. It's hard to pick a MOTM since the whole team was outstanding but if I had to pick one, I'd pick him.

I voted for Ozil although Mueller had an outstanding match as well. And Podolski played well and his goal, the first of the match, would certainly place him in contention for MOM honors.

Still, Ozil seemed like a very special player and I have a sense we will be hearing a lot about him.

Mesut (they actually call him "Messi") Özil

A rough diamond, but a potential world-class player.

    Özil for me.
I was impressed by how he managed to tear the Australian defence open with almost every pass he played.
Not like we had not known about his ability to do so before but it was great to see him delivering at the world stage.

Özil played well, but he made some mistakes. Lahm was almost perfect. It's just that he's a back, and they rarely get man of the match unless they make some obvious saves. He played more passes than any other player, was always involved. If you look at his heatmap, he was up and down the whole right side.
I think he's the best wring-back in the world at the moment.

I really enjoyed watching Thomas Müller play. He's a genuinely talented player.

Great future ahead for him and for german football.
