Re: Portugal Quote [R] North Korea lists striker as keeper The other article I read made it sound intentional - like they were trying to skirt the rules and get 21 field players and only 2 keepers. This article doesn't suggest anything of the sort, either way though they screwed up.
Re: Portugal Quote [R] Tanzania - Brazil is on. Another surprisingly even game with a third tier African side. Brasil have some nice play, but Tanzania is very much in the game. The difference between the sides is in finishing (2:0 already). Apart from that you don't really see much difference between the squads. Tanzania seem to have slightly more possession... Michel Bastos is great upfront but has lost the ball several times which gave Tanzania great chances to score. With better strikers it could have been equal. Brasilians are being surprisingly easily dispossed in their own half. Still will probably end like the Zimbabwe game - a comfortable win in the end. Great atmosphere. Would really like Brasil to tour Africa... it is just such a treat for the local population. EDIT: Very ugly play from Fabiano just a moment ago. The Brasilian couldn't get to the ball, which was guided out by a Tanzanian defender. Fabiano frustrated pushes the defender brutally in the back... a red card in my book and very ugly play for the Brasilian striker, especially since its a meaningless good-atmosphered friendly. Very unsportsmanlike. I've lost my respect for the dude.
Re: Portugal Quote [R] Brazil beats Tanzania 5x1 and eight days away from their debut are free of major injuries, the first half exposed serious problems on the left, the second fixed those and showed good movement from midfield subs.
Re: Portugal Quote [R] Much better second half defensively than the first. Also a wonderful goal by Ramires. Melo is terrible... easily the worst DM in th group. Taking him off immediately improved the Brasilian side.
Portugal with a lot of support in SA http://tv1.rtp.pt/noticias/index.php?t=Festa-portuguesa-na-chegada-da-Seleccao-a-Africa-do-Sul.rtp&headline=20&visual=9&article=350422&tm=65
I understand there is a lot of frustration in Portugal right now, and in many respects I do not blame their fan base from feeling alienated. This is, however, a very good team opponents will find tough to break down. I think Portugal is going to surprise some people. They are going to have a good rotation through the group stages, and guys like Nani, Liedson, Danny, Simao, and Raul Meireles are going to have fresh legs. Queiroz will have to balance playing time and make sure Ronaldo and Deco do not get run into the ground, but on balance this team is going to be tough.
Is it true the North Korean fans at the stadium are paid Chinese?? On the ESPN broadcast of Brazil/NK they were saying that the NK fans at the stadium were actually paid Chinese who were paid to come there and root for North Korea. The announcers said they didn't speak Chinese so they couldn't ask the fans to confirm that story. Wouldn't there be ANY North Koreans there to root them on?? At least family of the team or staff or family of high level government officials and/or dignitaries from North Korea?
Re: Is it true the North Korean fans at the stadium are paid Chinese?? Fans paid by North Korea? With what money? They're starving over there!!
Re: Is it true the North Korean fans at the stadium are paid Chinese?? This has been previously discussed in the NK thread in the general forum: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1460604
Re: Is it true the North Korean fans at the stadium are paid Chinese?? As pointed out above by Caesar this has been discussed before. I'm moving it to the News thread as it's not really worthy of it's own thread. Several articles pointed this out so as far as I know, it's true.
North Korea WC articles/fans thread I just thought I'd have a thread in this section for any interesting articles on North Korea at the WC. Here is an article about how their fans are still optimistic despite the narrow loss to Brazil since they played surprisingly well. So we're still optimistic. http://www.the-afc.com/en/tournamen...010/29395-dprk-fans-optimistic-despite-defeat Is it true that Jung Dae-Se's mother and high school teach came to watch the games in SA from North Korea?
Re: North Korea WC articles/fans thread Moved to the news thread, no need for more clutter. Also there's a North Korea thread in the General area: World Cup: General, North Korea
