Jun 11, Only a few days left. Where is the excitement? :D

With China's absence, whom will you root for? I'm rooting for the US and Japan.

6/12 the US takes on England. Japan's first match is on 6/14, against Cameroon.

Here's the complete schedule of WC 2010,

What?!? You mean you're not rooting for Brazil/Spain/Germany/Italy/Argentina/England/Portugal? I didn't know people actually supported other teams

The majority of people who I've talked to at my work about the world cup laugh at me when I say I want the USA to win it all. It's not just my Chinese co-workers, some Canadians too. I guess they can't understand why somebody would root for a team not favored to win.

I'll be rooting for the East Asian representatives... Japan, N/S Korea... as well as England (having lived there for 5 years when I was in grade school) and USA... just for the N. American connection.

Yea, it sucks when your own teams aren't in. Being impartial is just meh.

Are those Canadians all pumped up about Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals? And think the World Cup happened in Germany in May?

Will be rooting for East Asian countries, but only slightly, don´t think i´ll follow it too much cuz of our absence :(

Lol similar thing happens to me when i say i´d rather watch ACL than CL, or CSL instead of EPL, La Liga or something. They think i´m absolotely crazy, which i might be lol.

Why as a matter of fact they are pumped about the Stanley Cup Finals. I've keep them up to date on the world cup this year so hopefully they know the location and date.

You mean like the South Koreans would be rooting for the Japanese? :p

BTW X, how are you going to be watching the WC here in the States? ESPN?

I don't think you're crazy. You want to get in on the ground floor. Or you're just tired of watching a mature product.

:) I bet the Taiwanese are rooting for the Japanese. They have a very complicated relationship founded upon colonial history, culture, geopolitics, and economics, right?

Yeah, ESPN. Or Univision to avoid all the unnecessary hoopla coverage.

Probably Southern Taiwan. But they are more into baseball than soccer so I don't think most would even notice there's a World Cup around the corner.

I wonder if ESPN or Univision is going to show the Japan Cameroon match? If not, what are my options?

New Zealand and North Korea, primarily due to their underdog statuses, with the All Whites having some part time players in their squad, an underpaid coach who spends 365 days a year looking for players with the remotest New Zealand bloodlines and not a lot of talent. North Korea because of the 15,000 tickets allocated, 0 fans will be supporting them due to political reasoning (as well as South Korea cutting off live matches as well).

I know both of the above will fail so my bet goes with Germany, people will overlook them as they don't have any big stars but they have a relatively consistent team and I prefer youth over experience with Badstuber and Thomas Muller very good prospects. Klose has had a disappointing season but I think Germany can pick themselves up, good spread of talent across the field.

Despite me living in the UK, I pretty much have lost hope in the England team, they have no chance in my opinion as media speculations will overthrow concentration. Plus the hype....

    Germany and DPRK.

I have always been a fan of Germany as long as I remember. Even though Germany is not one of the favorites this time around, I think they will do very well in 2014 and perhaps 2018 (in the USA?) as the have really talented but inexperienced young players. My favorite has to be Marko Marin, the Serbian-born player.

    DPRK: What's not to like?
