i like this a lot =D nice pickup. she's a great GK and also just fun to talk to as far as fans go. awesome person all around (if slightly off center, but i think it's a GK thing :p). should be interesting to see who's shuffled where in this.

Not a bad pickup at all. Fills a need. Isn't a complete stranger to some of the Freedom players (ie could probably find a couch to sleep on this week ;) ).

I mentioned to SCF on Sunday that this would be a logical move - glad to see it happen. Even for a coach who doesn't like to shake things up much, this move was obvious - A keeper with a lot of potential who doesn't mind backing up McLeod for now is a perfect fit when our other backups haven't inspired much confidence. This should help keep McLeod focused - she really has had no competition for the #1 spot up to this point and someone pushing her is not a bad thing (and if Harris beats her out eventually, so be it).

Still wish we could have gone after Aluko to fill in for De Vanna the rest of this season. Granted we have a pretty solid team right now (we have a defense, yay!), but other teams have improved significantly with the compression of the talent pool and I don't want to fall behind by staying stagnant.

with the way the Philly GM wrote his tweet I don't think the Freedom could have gotten Aluko. I think she chose to stay with her Athletica teammates. I'd have liked to see Freedom try for Tarp. She's already very used to playing with Abby it would have made a fast transition.

    Excellent!

Welcome, Ashlyn, to the Freedom! I am a big Harris fan. I was happy to see her go to St. Louis as she could learn a lot from Solo. I think she will also learn a lot competing with Erin. Given a while to get her feet on the ground, this looks to me to be more of a horse race for the starting spot. Best of luck!

What is the situation with Scurry? Her 30 days injury list is up on June 5, unless its can be extended.

still not impressed with all defenders..one let another goal go in last game while watching goalie fumble...

I don't recall any of them being in position to do anything about it. Could criticize them for letting it get to the keeper in the first place, though.

ashlyn looks like a great pickup and can provide good cover. anyone think she might be able to push mcleod for starting spot?

I don't know about that but she might be able to stop Freedom fans from crying/cussing like sailors when McLeod can't play.

at least that's what I do when she can't play. sorry, no faith in scurry or McCray (even though she seems lovely)

What kittenbiscuits said. McLeod is underrated (IMHO), arguably the best 'keeper in WPS this season next to Bardsley. And I wouldn't trade her for any other netminder in the league, not even Her Holiness. But there's a massive dropoff to either of our backup keepers - Harris will reduce that by a big margin.

agreed about mcleod, totally underrated, and harris provides great back up. i wonder if she will be able to push for the national team a few years down the road (not in the immediate future, i mean)

I think McCleod's back four is why she isn't viewed as being one of the better keepers. Everyone thinks of the Freedom's defense as being terrible so you can't imagine their GK being one of the best.
I hope that Harris gets to play a game or two so her keeping can improve.

I'd like to see her play a legit WPS game before considering her for the Nats though.
