Charlie Davies will be interviewed by Marcelo Balboa and will be taking questions from fans tonight on Mile High Sports 1510. You can listen to the radio live from your computer at http://milehighsports.com/Article.asp?id=1582643. Balboa's radio show starts at 4PM PST (7PM EST). Hopefully this interview won't be like CD's last radio interview. Just thought you guys would like to know.
According to the radio interview: What held him back? The broken femur. While the bone healed completely, he lost a lot of muscle mass. According to Charlie the muscle mass is back but he is still working towards getting his leg strength to where it was pre-accident. On his relationship with club management: Charlie has come to terms with the club's decision not to clear him for the World Cup. He says that emotions were running high at the time and that the relationship between him and the club president has been patched up. On Onyewu's recovery Charlie says that Gooch is doing well and that he has used recent criticism about his apparent limp and jumping ability as motivation. What's next? CD continues working even in the off-season, working in the weight-room to regain his leg strength. He's looking forward to preseason with Sochaux and the Brazil game in August.
Thanks for the info, good to know more of the specifics on what exactly was holding Davies back. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping this will only be a minor setback in his career and he can continue to progress.
Looks like Davies has a new target date. Should be interesting to see if he gets called in once Aug. rolls around.
Great stuff. Thanks, Pinowski. (Must spread rep.) These words were the most heartening and encouraging to hear for me. I really hope he's able to play against Brazil in Aug. It'll be an emotional moment when he steps onto the field, even if it was later than he and we had hoped.
