Traditionally I've been a Manchester United fan with a soft spot for Spurs - but this past season, after having watched Sunderland games more than I had in the past, I'm starting to get a soft spot for them as well...

Just gotta say to the Black Cat supporters here, win or lose, the team is VERY fun to watch...and the more that I do watch, the more they're really growing on me. :) anyone else become a supporter of the team this way? Or are the supporters here mostly people for whom they're the local team?

That's how I started. When I first began watching the Premiership last season, I became a United fan early on. But I tend to root for underdogs as well, and I definitely have to say now the Black Cats are by far my favorite in England. I'm not so fond of United anymore, or any of the clubs at the top for that matter.

    Welcome to the curse lol

Its nice to see us gain fans internationally even if it is just one or two. You will see that once it gets under you skin its very hard to remove.

I learned my trade at Arsenal, became a footballer at Manchester City, but Sunderland got under my skin... I love Sunderland (Niall Quinn)

I read that quote from Quinn! I have a book I bought called The Sunderland AFC Miscellany by Paul Days, that has a wonder of info in it.

I do have to admit I still like United. They're easily the most watchable team of the big 4 for me.

However, next weekend, I definitely do NOT pull for United over the Black Cats. No way!

I will say having only really seen enough Sunderland matches in 2 full seasons counting the current one that they are interesting to watch. I enjoyed early on in the season with the draw at Old trafford.

It will be interesting to see what Bruce does for the club during the summer.

I could never root for the traditional top 4. I understand their initial appeal to new supporters to the English league but hopefully more become wise and see the errors of their ways.:p

I'm a Manchester United fan. I wouldn't call myself a fan of any other club in England, but Sunderland might be my second favorite club in England. My second favorite club in England is either Sunderland or Aston Villa.

I was like a lot of you on this thread: I initially supported a top 4 team when I first started watching the Prem (the team in question was Arsenal), but after catching a Sunderland game at the SoL, I knew without a doubt the Black Cats were my team. It's funny to go to the footy pubs wearing the Red and White and seeing the double takes.
