I really do not get why Chucho gets bashed the way he does.

The team scored 29 goals (2nd best offensive output behind Monterrey)

The team started the year scoring 3 goals or more in their first 4 out of their 6 games. Cabanas gets shot in late January. Esqueda gets injured in early Feb.

His entire game plan changes overnight (without sounding melodramatic).

Tony Lopez and Daniel Marquez, who are noobs and do not have a track record of any sorts score 5 goals and 4 goals respectively. When compared to other forwards like Vuose, Emmanuel Villa, Martin Bravo, Itamar Batista, Darwin Quintero, the numbers show they did not do as bad as some claim.

Many games (especially the game against Chivas and Pumas) the team, and more to the point, Tony Lopez, were crucified for not being efficient. All the sitters that they missed were replayed over and over. Its easy not to like them.

Pre Chucho Era with Romano, Diaz, etc
= criticized for not generating an attack

    OR

Chucho Era = criticized for wasting numerous scoring opportunities

It is a ********ing no brainier for me.

This reminds me of the time when I was a kid playing baseball and I was perhaps in my worst fking slump of play playing career. I went numerous games without getting a hit. My confidence was so low that I even approached the coach and said that I wouldn't hold it against him if he benched me. He shrugged it off and laughed and said to me that I was doing everything I was being asked. He said that my mechanics were spot on. I was seeing the ball. I was going with the pitch (pulling it or taking it opposite field) and swinging through. I was not dropping my shoulders, and above all, making contact with the sweet spot of the bat. The only problem is that the hits were not coming.

The point is, its easier to change one's luck when they put themselves in a position to do so. I say this, not as a Chucho fan, but as a Chucho detractor, that has come to respect his work with the club.

I did not want him with the club, but I sure as hell do not want to see him go.

I really feel that he has done a great job, given the circumstances.

    wey no mames...

We needed a miracle and that's exactly what we got. Though it's great that we eliminated chundazul, do we really deserve to be in the liguilla? Who's going to be putting the goals in? Reyna and Rolfi? Forwards are what we need, and forwards are what we don't have.

I'm down for giving Tony Lopez another shot. Who knows?

also Navarrete, holy shit. "voy a salvar al equipo" and that's exactly what he does.

This would be a terrible idea.....he can go to San Luis or Necaxa.

you guys, I think RDL is right......a lot of us in here are quick to ask for Chucho's head....given the circumstances I think Chucho is doing a decent job.....you can't argue with the numbers....we are 2nd when it comes to the most goals scored.....and to dismiss it is stupid.....yes we put 6 past a weaker team.....but we put them in. I can only imagine what some of you guys would have said had we won the game 1-0.

If chava and kike we probably would have won more games (el clasico most def.) I wasn't too thrilled with chucho coming in.....although it would be a really, REALLY bad idea to let him go after this season.

dude who do you expect to put in goals? what does it matter if we have a ton of generated chances when there's no one on the team who is consistent enough in front of goal?

oh and just as an interesting sidenote thing: we may be second in overall goals this season (29, Monterrey is first with 30), but this season the overall goals for all teams have dropped pretty dramatically. last season Cruz Azul was first with 48, Monterrey second with 38, Morelia 36, Toluca 34, Santos 31, and us at 30. We've gone down since last season, even if it was by a goal.

    http://www.mediotiempo.com/tabla_mejor_ofensiva.php?id_liga=1&id_torneo=220

edit; this is actually counting liguilla and regular season, nevermind. further research is required.

edit 2; yeah, with the regular season only filter my point is still valid. cruz azul scored 13 goals last liguilla, wow. we actually performed the same last season (29)

Thats the coaches fault for not bringing in talent for this season...

Layun and Sandoval? please that was suppose to be our remedy for bench this season

we have absolutely no bench and thats his fault as well!

if he doesnt feel the Cantera is or was at the time strong enough for him to bring them in...he should have requested more players but instead he decided they were good enough....turns out they arent as good as he thought...well guess who has to live with the concequences of those decisions....

a coach is suppose to put all sorts of scenarios in front of him...maybe not as dramatic as the stuff that has happened but if you tell me that he didnt think that maybe Cabanas or Montenegro or Aqui could be injured than that just tells you how moronic this coach is...

well who plans out for their star player and his backup to get injured? even if you do plan, can you really expect that backup player to pull through? look what happened. Tony Lopez missing sitters left and right, but still 5 goals (broke Esqueda's record btw, and it's still his first season). Daniel Marquez too. Impossible circumstances forced Chucho's hand. We honestly should have had no business in the liguilla, but like it or not, Rolfi, Reyna, Tony Lopez, Daniel Marquez, and even Esqueda and Cabanas put is there.

what happened this season is nothing short of miraculous. Cabanas and Esqueda out within 6 season games, with the entire season still to play, and no decent forwards to call on. wow.

in all honesty I don't expect us to get to semis, but it will be nice watching.

    um....no.

if you ask for players but la directiva can't get them for you that isn't the coach's fault.

you can't say he didn't and I can't say he did.

I doubt he only thought those 2 players would be enough......El Negro (imo) has been a decent sub....difference maker? No....but decent.

I don't think any of us expected Layun to suck as bad as he did.

He had to of made a list...

every competent DT has to make one dude! if he doesnt than wtf is going on?

throw away the names.. i meant positions

its obvious he only looked at those two positions to fill on the field, where he knew we had problems up front if Cabanas isnt there and in the backline when Aqui wasnt there....
