I'll be waiting for the Chicharito and Guardado threads shortly about who the best player from this region is. lol

As far as Ruiz being the best, it's arguable, definitely. I say he's top 5, easy.

Ruiz is doing it big right now in the Eredivisie but it would be unfair to call him the best CONCACAF player right now....he's the best CONCACAF forward right now...but still needs to show his worth in either one of the top 3 leagues (Everton already made a 9 million euros offer which was rejected and Sevilla will most likely make a bid this summer) or in next years Champions League if FC Twente win the Eredivisie this season (i want to see him against the best in the world...he already faced a tough side like Werder Bremen in the Europa League and made their whole defense his bitch in the away match in Germany :D).

What he is doing right now is a big accomplishment especially if he helps FC Twente win their first league title in history. He also scored a hattrick in under 5 minutes this past weekend and is third in fastest hattricks in Eredivisie history tying Johan Cruyff and passing Marco Van Basten. Eredivisie might not be La Liga, Serie A, or EPL but it is definitely a top league in Europe. Definitely a top 5 in CONCACAF right now but needs more accomplishments and more years to be considered the best like Rafa Marquez, David Suazo, or Dwight Yorke in recent years.

Definitely. One Dutch newspaper figured out that he's three times more successful at converting his chances than the eredivisie topscorer (Suarez). He's also won Twente over 20 points with deciding goals v 7 points for Ajax from deciding goals by Suarez.

definitely not top 5. He's not better than mexico's top players or the hondurans in the premier league.

He can crack the top five, we'll just have to move the Hondurans. :D

The only Mexican player that can be considered better than him right now is Guardado....the rest im not so sure...Moreno is solid and probably a top CONCACAF defender....and Jonathan is good but still too young..but he will definitely be a strong player in the future.

    1. Salcido was owned by Ruiz on 2 plays a couple of weeks ago that almost cost PSV a loss (one of those plays led to Twente's goal with a slick pass between both Salcido and Maza)...Both have PSV at 3rd place while Ruiz has been huge in having FC Twente in first place.
    2. Gio has been bust so far in his european career
    3. Vela is nothing more than a bench warmer at Arsenal
    4. Marquez is not even close to the player he once was
    5. Osorio doesn't even get garbage minutes with Stuttgart anymore.

You might mention Chicharrito who looks like Mexico's next star...but he needs to be seen in Europe first and not just score against New Zealand, Bolivia's U-20 team, and North Korea.

Excuse me, but that was not Bolivia's U20, I clearly remember seeing a lot of older dudes on that squad.

In december of 2008 when Bryan Ruiz was playing for KAA Gent of Belgium...the teams director said he rejected an offer from Napoli of Serie A because they did not want to sell Ruiz since he was the captain and best player of the team and he thought the fans, sponsors, and press would be very upset.

    - Zenit St. Petersburg made an offer of 7 million euros and Ruiz rejected it since he did not want to play in Russia.
    - Celtic also made an offer for Bryan Ruiz but it was only 2.5 million euros so it was rejected last year.
    - TSG Hoffenheim was close to signing Bryan Ruiz last summer but he chose FC Twente because he said he wanted to play in Holland first to improve his skills and then move to a big club in a big league.
    - Everton plans on making an offer of 8 million euros but FC Twente will most likely ask for close to 15 million euros.

Here's a link of a newspaper in Sevilla that mentions Bryan Ruiz as one of Sevilla's potential Class A signings for this summer.

You know he plays in Holland, right? That's like two good teams, 6 decent teams and a sh!t load of village teams. Michael Bradley scored something like 16 goals in one season when he was 20-21 as a defensive midfielder, Ruiz is gonna be 25 after the WC and he's not even going to be in it.

Very good opinions on those guys but come on you cant dismiss the likes of Guardado? Palacios? Figueroa? Alvarez? Donovan? Dempsey? who are all very good players for a while and are doing it in the Premier and Serie A. I think the arguements fits better is hes the best forward "CURRENTLY" .

I read online that David Faitelson (well know Mexican broadcaster) considered Wilson Palacios to be the best CONCACAF player because of the soccer that he has displayed and talent in the premier league. Oh by the way Tottenham is on verge of possibly getting a chance to play in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE for the 1st time ever. There are several good stories about Palacios if u search online. So i disagree for him being the best.

RIGHT NOW I SAY ITS BETWEEN PALACIOS OR GUARDADO

I kind of hate this thread bcuz in every position theres a good player that can be the best of the concacaf.

like you really cant say wilson is better then ruiz since they both play completely different positions....

I never said Ruiz was the best overall player...i said he is probably the best foward at the moment in CONCACAF...the only Mexican player that is better in Europe than Bryan Ruiz at the moment is Guardado since Deportivo depend on him....i also mentioned in a different thread that to me the best defensive mid in CONCACAF is Wilson Palacios and best defender is between Mynor Figueroa and Hector Moreno. I've also mentioned that Ruiz is probably top 5 this season for what he has done with a club that historically is below Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord, and AZ Alkmaar who are last years champs but there's no way he is the BEST OVERALL CONCACAF player yet...he needs to prove it next year in Spain if he is sold or in the Champions League if Twente win the Eredivisie.

But he is definitely the best CONCACAF foward at the moment since most of the others are either on the bench or hurt....Ricardo Fuller and Kenywe Jones are excellent but haven't been at their usual level this season.

OH BTW I think El Pescado Ruiz is way better then Ruiz.

the Mexican League Rapes Holland and Pescado is all around better player in my opinion, even way better then David Suazo.

The original quote stated that all three EPL Hondurans were better players than Ruiz. I'd agree with Palacios, I could go either way with Figueroa, but there is no way I'd rate Thomas as a better player. Hes had some downright terrible performances for Wigan this year and was dropped for several games due to form.

ML better than Eredivisie? I really doubt that since Salcido, Maza, and Moreno wouldn't be there if they thought ML was better...Eredivisie is probably the 6th or 7th best European league behind EPL, SERIE A, LA LIGA, BUNDESLIGA, LIGUE 1, and probably even with Portugal's league. Eredvisie star players are also always sold to big clubs in top european leagues (that's a main reason why Ruiz said he chose FC Twente over Hoffenheim, Celtic, and Zenit...and thats why Sevilla, Everton, Tottenham, and Villareal are linked to him).

Pescadito Ruiz is a solid player...but he did fail to make it in the Greek League in his younger days. I doubt he would have the same success Bryan Ruiz is having now in the same Eredivisie. Bryan Ruiz can play in any of the foward positions and even as a creative midfielder...and he drops down a lot of defend...he isn't just one of the fowards that scores on rebounds.
