Well I think the main point is that St Mirren aren't from Glasgow. But, since Clyde moved out, you're probably right.
With "amused" I didn't mean "delighted/happy" in this case but more some kind of self-ironic amusement. Why not? Aren't Paisley & Glasgow neighbour cities with some kind of rivalry (like i.e. my city Fürth and Nuremberg)? I'd call it the "little derby"... You misunderstood me. With the quotation marks I just tried to show the relation between the "small" Saints and the "big" Celts.

Typical tabloid nonsense. The £10mill from not qualifying this season for the CL group stages could hardly be blamed on Mowbray. I'd be interested to know who the Evening Times would like to put forward as their choice of manager that would have been able to defeat Arsenal over two legs in the qualifiers. So that's rubbish for a start. And as for next seasons CL. We aren't anywhere near that yet so it's tough to speculate on it. We can't even put up a shortlist of possible teams we could be matched against. So at this minute in time, when he was sacked, he's cost us around about £4mill. But what the hell, £25mill looks so much better in print.
That was my first thought as well and the reason why I said "interesting" calculation. How can you be so sick to blame a manager (as bad as he may have been during this season) for not managing to reach the CL group stage in the quali against one of the top favourites for the CL title?
Can see what you're getting at but they're actually not, there's always been a lot of parochial divisions between Paisley and Greenock, that's why St Mirren and Greenock Morton are rivals.

I have to agree with Bluey on this one Celtic and Rangers have alot more than just a city rivalry going on, there is much more history behind it as well from what I know anyways. Not sure St M and Mortons are of equal comparison or if St Mirren even deserve the privilage of being called a derby against us and them. There has always been that 'Big Vs Small' complex in cups against teams like them, Caley etc. That's all... we slipped up this time, doesn't mean we have to credit them ten fold. Chances are they will get heavily defeated by either Rangers or Celtic in due course.
Well, maybe the expression "derby" has got different meanings in Germany & UK. In Germany, it would be a derby (in this case a "little derby") ... no matter whether one club is 'small' and the other 'big'. Anyway, fact is that David can play good football as well if Goliath's arrogance allows it.

There was a good atmosphere at the match on Saturday. Best theres been in a while against one of the weaker sides in the SPL. Robbie Keane's quality stood out like a sore thumb once again. His first goal was terrific. Quickness in both footwork and thought left him clear of two defenders and allowed him to dink the ball over the advancing keeper. His second goal was an excellent finish as well. McGeady had a good game. Was unlucky not to score himself (he hit the woodwork twice) but did manage to set up Scott Brown for his first of the season. Lee Naylor played well at left back. Yep. I did just write that. He had a good, if unspectacular 90mins. Samaras continues to be equally good and bad at times throughout the match. If he could just get it all together for a few games he'd look a million miles better. The ability is undoubtedly there but it only comes in flashes and is usually followed by something rather dumb. Hopefully Lenny and Johann get another victory but it'll be a lot tougher today than it was against Kilmarnock 8 days ago. He's kept the same team other than Zaluska coming in for Artur who has had to return to Poland because of the death of his father.
Poor first half from both teams. Played on another poor pitch. I can't recall the last time I've seen so many pitches in such poor condition. Of course the harsh winter and the length of it(snow blizzards last week as we know) is a big factor in this. From a Celtic perspective pass marks for Lee Naylor, Josh Thompson, Landry N'Guemo. Everyone else needs to up their game. I'd remove Samaras and stick on either Ki or Crosas to try and gain us a foothold in the central area of midfield as we are being outmanned there which is restricting possession for us and causing us problems in creating opportunities up front. Lets see if Lenny has learned anything from M'ON on half time pep talks. I'm hoping for a 2nd half improvement.

It was probably the worst Celtic-Hibs matchup I've witnessed in a while but Lenny's revolution continued with a 1-0 win courtesy of a Robbie Keane penalty. Zaluska was busy for the first 10-15mins and acquitted himself well during this time but other than a great strike from Derek Riordan(or Reeordan as Nicholas seems to be pronouncing himself these days...) that rattled the crossbar, we weren't that troubled at the back. Colin Nish did give Darren O'Dea a busy day though. We never created a lot ourselves on a poor excuse for a pitch but after an even first half we were the better team in the second 45mins and deserved to edge the win. Naylor had another good game at left back. His delivery from corners was very good although his free kicks didn't hit the same heights. Thompson strolled through most of the game. And after one or two lapses of concentration early on(slow getting out and playing people onside), Hinkel came onto a decent game as well. N'Guemo had a good first half but faded in the second and it seemed to be the opposite way around for Skoosh. He was far more prominent in the second 45mins. McGeady had some decent runs. His final ball was up and down. Fortune worked hard and caused their backline problems. Can't really say the same for Samaras. Or Keane for that matter, who was quiet for a lot of the match. Still. Another win and but for a fluke last week the Lenny/Johann combo would have had two clean sheets. Oh. And I was wondering where the match was being played. It looked oddly different. Thankfully it was cleared up at full time when the dizzy bint presenting it explained all by thanking everyone for tuning in to Easter Park today... Anyhoo, Scottish Cup semi up next.
never thought i'd say this but andy hinkel had a pretty decent game defensively as well. he's turning into my favorite fulltime player as he develops more consistency. charlie richmond was absolutely awful as usual today and keano had a couple of chances early that i was surprised he didn't take advantage of. i'm still waiting to see something from fortune but he's been disappointing to me. a 4-4-2 with crosas n'guemo in the middle would be my ideal set up with no samaras and big rassa with keano up front. high marks to lenny today as well, it was great to see some life on the touchline. i'm not a big fan of animated managers but seeing the passion that lenny brings instills confidence that we've got sound leadership in place. hail hail, bring on the cup

I have absolutely no idea(as per) what the team will be, especially after Saturday's debacle. But I'll still have a shot at it. Definitely Out: Hooiveld Loovens Rogne Maloney Doubtful: O'Dea If it were me, I'd make wholsesale changes. The end result might be the same as Saturday but after that performance I wouldn't be giving the vast majority of them another chance so soon. Boruc Hinkel Thompson O'Dea Braafheid Brown Crosas Ki McGinn Keane Rasmussen Boruc back in between the sticks. If O'Dea doesn't make it then Wilson may be drafted in to play CB. Or Naylor. *gulp* I'd stick Braafheid back in, even after him spitting his dummy out on Saturday. Time for him to suck it up and prove he's a better player than he has so far. Overhaul the midfield. It's a farce as it stands. Try Crosas and Ki in the middle together. They are both good technically and may provide us with more of the ball and carry more threatening intent in our attacks due to a better and more controlled (i.e. pass to a Celtic player Landry) passing game. McGeady was bloody awful and unless Samaras has some sort of incriminating photographic evidence over someone high up at Celtic he shouldn't be on the pitch again this season. Fortune stunk on Saturday as well. Let Rasmussen get more time in the jersey. He's going to be our main striker next season. Give him more time in the team. The more comfortable he is with playing at Celtic, and in Scotland in general, then the better equppied he'll be for next season. And just win the bloody game please. I dread to think what the score will be between Rangers and Dundee Utd tomorrow night.
You and quite a few others. A win is a win is a win. Not happy that certain individuals were allowed to start the game while others were picked out for individual criticism and dropped. Still, it's all about the three points where we are at the minute so I'm happy in that respect. I still think there should have been wholesale changes but I've never been involved in professional football so that shows you how much I know.
MOTM is Rasmussen. the entire match completely changed after he was brought on. the shame of it is that he'll probably sit out the glasgow derby after serving his suspension next week. everytime he and keane are paired together we score goals and yet he sits on the bench week after week. hopefully lenny comes around and realizes what he's got there but i'm afraid i'm not hopeful
Last Glasgow derby of the season. Last home game of the season. A season that has been a total train wreck. So I'm off to the pub in about an hours time before going to the game. I couldn't bear to sit sober through this one.
