On the FCD website, the roster has been updated to be 25 players (Leyva the extra). Edwards, Alexander and Yeisley have apparently been signed. With the new CBA, are the Yeisley and Edwards contracts guaranteed or no? If they are guaranteed, it would infer no more signings other than Luna for the rest of the season.
Isn't the guaranteed contracts only for those players who have been in MLS for a certain number of years?
So Wiedemen has been signed as well? Peri better start brushing up on his resume I think. 2010 MLS Roster is 24 I think - 20 seniors and 4 developmental, so doesn't Levya need to be dropped by roster compliance date or opening kick? Per the new CBA contracts are guaranteed once you are 24 AND have 3 years of MLS service. Last comment looking at the roster: Cunningham had better make it through the season injury free and in form. An injury or a dip in form and this team can forget making the playoffs unless Shea, Ferriera, and Harris pick up the slack big time. Typically summer signings are too late to make a significant impact, and I'm not happy about going into the season with only one proven striker, and not even an MLS journeyman behind Cunny or to partner with him when we are behind and chasing a game. Obviously Peri isn't cutting it. Harris has never been an impact forward in MLS and is more ofa wide MF, all the other Fs are rookies. This is a HUGE gamble....
No, he's homegrown so does not count to the roster for this season. The same would go for Luna if/when he signs.
true as it doesn't count against the cap, but he'd better have a good seat cushion for the bench. He can barely get on the field for a USOC game, not a good sign. I hope he can take a step forward and contribute, just haven't seen anything so far and if FCD signed 2 rookie forwards Peri better start reading the writing on the wall. However, I hope for the best for him as that only helps FCD.
Got it, so there is some type of allocation or overage allowance on the # of players on the roster if they are academy/youth system products? That is smart by MLS and a good thing. I'd like to see Luna in person, SH seems to really like him and he sounds/reads like he is a real bulldog in the box and a finisher.
GA still counts against your # of bodies on the roster, just not the cap. Correct? OK, props to Buzz/3rd Degree, I should have known not to go more than 10 minutes these past few days w/out checking and refreshing 3rddegree.net. So, we have the mysterious striker, but he won't be here until the summer transfer window. OK, FO, PLEASE have all the damn paperwork done so he can hit the ground running the earliest nano-second possible. I don't want said player missing training and games as he needs to get something stamped at an embassy in Buenos Aires or Montivedeo or Warsaw or whereever or we are waiting on the uber-efficient U.S. State Dept. to issue a document! Looking forward the presser soon, any guesses/hints who this person is?
Great news that there will be an international signing. Obviously, it is someone foriegn whose contract runs out at the end of the spring season. Any indications on if it is a World Cup player, or which continent the player is from?
buzz...your response should be...YES! and, you should have added that the FO has given you the low-down on the contract details to this world cup starting striker from europe from either germany, italy or england. now...if it's not this, i'll truly be disappointed in you, carrick.
YES! the FO has given me the low-down on the contract details to this world cup starting striker from europe from either germany, italy or england.
Uh, Buzz... sorry for my lack of understanding, but is this sarcasm? If it is, funny... very funny. I only wish I could laugh with this bronchitis problem. All I know is that this signing is hopefully a piece that fits in the FCD puzzle and not a mere face with notoriety. One can hope...
There's a bucket, deep in the bowels of Pizza Hut Park. When Wagner passes on buying radio or TV ads, the money not spent goes in the bucket. When he arranges a friendly with a mid-table team from Bolivia, not Bavaria, the saved appearance fee goes in the bucket. When the team stays in the Super-8 instead of the Marriott, the difference goes into the bucket. It's a big bucket. Most of the contents are nickles and dimes, after all. Recycle Toja wigs as Davino wigs, add a nickle. Delay upgrading the credit card machines at PHP, add a dime. And it's been there for years. When they moved from the Cotton Bowl to Frisco, they covered it with a tarp and hoisted in on a flatbed. Everyone employed by FCD was required to come out and help. (It's a little known secret, but Brad Sham had to call a Cowboys game that day. Wagner never forgave him.) We always wondered what it was for. We just assumed we had the cheapest management in MLS, but now we know. They're not really cheap. It's just taken lo these many years to save up enough scratch to buy Wayne Rooney. We could have had him now, but it'll take months for the ship carrying the bucket to make it to England. My apologies FCD. All is forgiven.
Pretty sure that the only team not from North America that FC Dallas / Burn has scrimmagged in the Dallas area is CAP. Not even mid-level Bolivians.
SH did imply, but didn't actually say outright, that it was someone he went and scouted. So check where he went for ideas.
