Nah, he scores his fair share (well for a defender) in league play, but that vid is his only goal with the National team. He's a gritty player and we'll see what he offers at the tryouts.

For those interested, Dickov has gone back to UK to sign for Leeds.

I only thought he would sign with TFC if there was no chance at all of playing back home... came and gone... again.

Personally, I think it would've been a mistake to sign him anyway... he's not exactly a spring chicken anymore!

Alessandro Zamperini is the CB playing for TFC tonight:

Italian, born in '82, played his youth in the Lazio system. Went to England and played with Portsmouth in the Championship for a season, went back to Italy and bounced around in Serie C1 and C2 before playing for Latvian side Ventspils.

Some bad news from TFC training today...as reported on TFC's website.

    http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/news/t...id=8884300&vkey=news_t280&fext=.jsp&team=t280

"The only trialists still with the team are Argentine midfielder Martin Saric and Canadian defender Adrian Cann."

I wondered what happened to Said and the Italian guy.
They probably did something to tick off Preki...much like Gerba.

Barring any trades...this roster is going to be pretty thin.

Re: TFC Off-season Rumours and Trialists Thread

There were rumors on the RPB site that they wanted Said but they couldn't agree on a salary so they part ways. Pretty much really couldn't take all the defenders but with us losing a couple of Canadians in Gerba and Serioux the addition of Cann would be a pretty sure thing.

do you guys have a roster thread? or has there been some official roster release? i am hoping you guys make the playoffs this year but your roster is looking a bit grim ... will you even have 18 for a full game day roster?

Re: TFC Off-season Rumours and Trialists Thread

I don't think there is a roster thread. I'll fill you in with the most recent news.

The roster on TFC's website is pretty accurate...except for a couple of players who's status is in question.

There are 2 trialists with the team...Martin Saric (Argentinian) and Adrian Cann (Canadian).

We don't know what the status is with Zach Herold (2nd round pick from this year's draft). He hasn't been present for most of preseason. But he's 16 I think so I doubt he would have been considered for the starting XI.

Ali Gerba is most likely finished with TFC. Preki made it clear Gerba has no future with the club in a recent interview. They just need to do 'paper work' since Gerba had a guaranteed contract.

Barrett, Peterson, and Gomez are injured and probably won't be playing in the season opener.

As for your question about having an 18 man roster...we can only hope that TFC does by the season opener.

He was playing somewhat regularly during preseason...I think he was with the team for the Carolina Challenge Cup...but verification would be helpful since I didn't follow the tournament very closely.

No word yet if he has been, or will be offered a contract.

never heard of him... maybe one of the brazillion brazilians living in the city???

certainly I'd prefer an old brazilian to a young one... the younger ones didn't make it at home and never went to europe...

I dunno.. especially reading the 24th minute

Anyone know what the status of Kerry Baptiste is? Is he still working out with the team? Or is he waiting to ride the pines at Ipswich, like Mo's wishlist signing Dickov who appeared in three games as a sub for Leeds. Good career move. I guess artists doing it for the art doesn't really apply the same way in footie...
