I just want to know geographically if there is any derbies with-in NASL and some derbies with the MLS...

Im a Miami FC fan and I pretty damn sure we have one with the Hated rowdies of tampa... any other derbies?

I think a good MLS/NASL derby would be DC UNited vs Crystal Palaca Baltimore and that would most likely go down during US Open CUp... Cant Wait til some of these derbies go down this year...

Name some of the derbies yall looking forward too...

Looks like AC St. Louis and NSC Minnesota will play for some kind of Mississippi River Cup. Sure would be awesome if Memphis and New Orleans had D-2 teams someday, too...

I think Montreal and St. Louis should have a Fleur-de-Lys Cup to fight over.

Personally, I'm looking forward to if/when we get a shot at Chicago or KC in the Open Cup.

In a way, artificially-created rivalries (or derbies, or whatever you wanna call it) don't excite me at all.

Case in point: my team (TFC) and Columbus for the Trillium Cup. YAWN.

It's still young, but Austin and Houston are close enough that things could get interesting. We've played each other twice so far (one friendly, one Open Cup) and will play each other again in a March friendly. No trophy to be had yet. It probably won't get interesting until Austin wins one in the Open Cup. Or plays in Houston.

Oh, wait. We're not in the NASL.

    Nevermind.;)

Yes the Rowdies vs Miami (soon to be Strikers) rivalry is going to be epic! We hope to get Miami Fans up to Tampa. But Tampa visits us first!
All will be invited to the tailgate so we know what our enemy's look like!
Burrito has already come up with a cool name for our hated rivals The "Tampon Bay Poopies"
    kids I tell ya...

Could you guys take the trash talk to the club subforums, please?

If you can do that, have at it!

I might see about getting a thread for NASL Fan Rivalries, like the MLS Fan Rivalries thread, where you guys (and maybe some girls) can smack each other around.

Until then, it's best to keep it in the club subforums for now.

And now, back to our irregularly-scheduled topic!

May I also ask that you try and look into all the teams getting fan pages where we can choose "fan or foe" .. I know it will take time since it's the first year for some teams but would just be a nice addition. :p

I agree with atlanticTFCfan, this "themed" rivalry stuff is way too artificial for me.

THESE, now, are established antagonisms that I would love to see played out. ^.^ And the St. Louis derby (ACSTL-Lions) is also something I'm highly anticipating.

I don't see a point to have an ACSTL-Lions rivalry personally. If the Lions go up to a higher level then sure but right now it just seems...odd.

A Wizards and Fire rivalry already has a built in audience. Nothing forced about that at all.

A know most local fans of the game picked either team as a favorite to do them being closest geographically--I myself pushed for the Wizards simply because I didn't care about anyone else--but now that we have a club I think it could be fun.

    US Open Cup, friendlies, whatever.

Of course if we get ACSTL into the MLS, then holy hell, I think it could be huge.

    But, baby steps. :D

you'll be even a sadder panda when you check your history books. Charleston wasn't burned during the Civil war...

Shame we wont have the chance to meet in the Open Cup....

Well when you barrage thing with shells they tend to cash on fire and lets agree that Charleston will be Barraged again doesn't sound as cool. Maybe Charleston will fall again, but I'm not trying to be pc here.

While it definetely isn't a derby, Portland and Vancouver seem to have the closest thing to that in the league, there is a good rivalry going between Montreal/Vancouver. Being the two Canadian teams in the league and having been knocked out of the playoffs 2 years ago by the eventual champions, Vancouver, while last year we beat Vancouver in the final series to win the playoffs, makes for a good bit of history. Add in the Canadian Championship which added two games to the schedule over the last two years. Thus we have met 7 times against each other for the past two years including playoffs and out of league play.

Now this year just with the regular season and the Canadian Championship, we will meet 6 times (including 3 times in May alone!).

20 meetings over 3 years, including 3 championships in 2 of those years, makes for a lot of history and intensity when we meet. It is only sad that we aren't close enough to have the fans meet because otherwise this is probably one of the more intense rivalries you'll find in USL, outside of the the Northwest.

Especially since we know to reclaim the Canadian championship and defend our USL-1 title, we'll have to go through the Whitecaps. Let it all begin again on the 5th of May in Vancouver!

If this FCNY thing ever happens...they still won't be taken seriously enough to be a rival.

I personally think the comming of the Rowdies, and this new Orlando club in the near future, can only be beneficial to the Supporters culture of Miami. With so many new, and natural, rivals around them they'll either step up their game or risk being tromped on by Orlando and Tampa's supporters, along with Puerto Rico, in.......

Derbies implying two teams from the same city so it's impossible atm.

Classico's are the following imo :

    Montréal - Caroline
    Montréal - Rochester
    Portland - Vancouver
    Montréal - Vancouver
    Montréal - Toronto (NCC)
    Seattle - Vancouver
    Portland - Seattle

    Possible rivalries :

    Miami - TB
    CP - DC

But the rest I deffinatly concur with, especially the last three and especially especially Portland vs. Seattle, but thats a big duh + it'll be an all MLS Classico pretty soon.
