Koblenz survived but is potentially falling apart. Their coach, Uwe Rapolder, is not happy with the lack of funds to build a better team, was not happy with his players in the last game of the season (a 4-0 loss facing relegation) and is more than likely going to jump ship. Reports are that he has already interviewed with Eintracht Frankfurt. Also, the team looks like it going to be dismantled and rebuilt - 10 contracts expiring with more on the way out more than likely.
Perhaps Matt saw a more stable environment with FSV Frankfurt, but that is speculation based on what apparently is going on in Koblenz.

He only had signed a one year deal and so was free to look elsewhere.

    Direct from the horse's mouth:
"It was a tough decision to leave Koblenz," Taylor said. "But in the end I had to decide what I thought was best for my career."

"In Frankfurt, they showed a strong interest and I feel that there is a good opportunity to step in as a starter and get good minutes on the field."

FSV followed up the 15-0 win with an 11-0 game. Taylor played a half and scored 1 goal. 5 goals in 90 minutes is a pretty good way to preseason started. However, the next game is against Bayern Munich's 2nd team so the competition should be a little better than what they have faced so far.

    Unfortunate, but not surprising.
In related news Matt didn't make the roster for today's game.

What is his status right now? I'd be happy if FC Dallas signs him in the transfer window....

If he was given a free release, he was free to sign with MLS up to Aptil, 15.

In the summer, he can trial at other places, however.

According to Kicker, Matt (3.00) is currently the highest rated forward on the team and second overall to the starting keeper (2.50). He is also tied for team's leading scorer with Piossek who has played in 4 more matches.

Matt netted twice today and Piossek only got one, so Matt is now the team's leading scorer.

Well, the old rat tail is gone and he is scoring well.

He might get a chance to go back to BL II with someone.

Right now, Matt is tied for 41-47 among all Bundesliga III players.

For some reference, #2 on the list is Olivier Occean (once the Metrostars property, as I recall, who never signed due to a low-ball offer and went to Norway instead).

After spending half a decade in Norway's Tippeliga (one with Odd Grenland, four with Lilleström), he signed with Kickers Offenbach, where he is the joint top BL III scorer (9 goals in 13 matches).

Kickers, under the experienced Wolfgang Wolf (of Wolfsburg fame) shocked the Bundesliga vize-leaders Borussia Dortmund last Wednesday with Occean receiving a Bradley-esque "3.5" from the Kicker.

Another goal in the last match. He still leads his team in scoring, has moved up to a tie for 10th in the league in scoring (and has played at least 2 fewer matches than anyone equal or ahead of him on that list), and is currently the 28th rated player in the 3.BL with a 2.89.

Matt Taylor scored his 7th goal of the season (in his 10th game) on Saturday. His goal was the 4th goal in a 4-2 win over VfR Aalen.
