Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://philadelphiaunion.com/Content1.aspx?cid=2.1 DC trades Fred, the #7 pick tomorrow, and allocation money to Philly for the rights to Troy Perkins. Have to say at first glance, Philly cleaned up in this deal.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Philly only traded the Allocation Spot- so they keep their Draft Pick and pick up the #7 Overall plus Fred? Hell they even got DCU's Allocation Slot currently #6.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] They need a really good keeper to play exciting attacking soccer...
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://www.univision.com/content/content.jhtml?chid=4&schid=12314&secid=0&cid=156685 Michael Orozco is being linked with a move back to MLS, the article says Philly is the destination, but since he's appeared for the national team, he'll go via the allocation system and Philly traded down to 6th in that deal with DC. I don't see Orozco falling past 5 other teams without one grabbing him if for nothing else than to extort something out of Philly.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://voices.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2010/01/sunday_kickaround_8.html?wprss=soccerinsider Goff's comments today make me feel better about the current CBA negotiations. Especially after all the negativity about it elsewhere.

Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Not MLS related, but apparently the Los Angeles Sol are going to be shut down tomorrow. Every WPS function I've been to, I've seen Wizards suits lurking around. Come on boys, if you want a WPS team, you'll never do better than buying this team. Maybe it's not on your time frame, but you get the runaway favorites from day one with 1) The world's best player in Marta and 2) The most technically gifted women's player I've ever seen in Casey Nogueira. Just sayin'
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Seconded (though I am admittedly skeptical on how this league will last in the long run). Be great to have a professional women's franchise on both sides of the state.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Agreed. I thought at one time Ongoal had mentioned they wanted to add a WPS team (could be faulty memory) when they had stadium. Could be better to happen in a year or two but would be a good move if the money made sense. They can share a lot of infrastructure with the Wizards.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] It was mentioned in the stadium study for the Bannister area.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] I was just saying a WPS team would be fantastic .... I don't know if its possible this year with CAB and all but I would love this.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] I'm sorry but I dont think a WPS is a good idea. At least until the stadium opens and we establish a good, solid fanbase with attendance averages in the 17-18K range. I dont see us being able to support a WPS team. I think they would be lucky to draw a 1,000 people a game.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...e-to-push-negotiation-deadline-to-feb-12.html Deadline for the CBA has been extended to Feb 12th.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_...cquires-orozco-after-deal-with-red-bulls.html Michael Orozco to Philly after Philly traded with NY, we're now number 2 in the allocation order behind SJ. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/2010/01/orozco_to_union_john_to_fire.html And in a little more surprising news, Ralston is leaving the Revs.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] oh boy oh boy oh boy....we might actually get to use an allocation this season! Hopefully somebody we want becomes available.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch is strongly hinting that Ralston will be announced by AC St. Louis as their first ever player on Monday.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Ralston signed with AC St. Louis today. STL certainly seems to be doing things right early on. http://www.insidemnsoccer.com/2010/...ns-major-league-soccer-veteran-steve-ralston/
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Depends on who else they sign, everything up until this signing rumor started had been that they were getting a bunch of kids right out of college. Even their own fans seemed to be a little disappointed with their player prospects before the Ralston thing popped up.
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Wow....Ralston leaving NE makes you wonder what is going on up there in Beantown. I am going to be bold and say they finally miss the playoffs this year......
Re: NWR: MLS 2010 Non-Wizards Discussion [R] Ralston is also going to be an assistant coach, according to Timmermann. On a related note, how the hell did a guy who didn't start for his high school team go on to play more MLS games than any player in league history???
