DC trades Fred, the #7 pick tomorrow, and allocation money to Philly for the rights to Troy Perkins.

Have to say at first glance, Philly cleaned up in this deal.

Philly only traded the Allocation Spot- so they keep their Draft Pick and pick up the #7 Overall plus Fred? Hell they even got DCU's Allocation Slot currently #6.

They need a really good keeper to play exciting attacking soccer...

Michael Orozco is being linked with a move back to MLS, the article says Philly is the destination, but since he's appeared for the national team, he'll go via the allocation system and Philly traded down to 6th in that deal with DC. I don't see Orozco falling past 5 other teams without one grabbing him if for nothing else than to extort something out of Philly.

Goff's comments today make me feel better about the current CBA negotiations. Especially after all the negativity about it elsewhere.

Not MLS related, but apparently the Los Angeles Sol are going to be shut down tomorrow. Every WPS function I've been to, I've seen Wizards suits lurking around.

Come on boys, if you want a WPS team, you'll never do better than buying this team. Maybe it's not on your time frame, but you get the runaway favorites from day one with 1) The world's best player in Marta and 2) The most technically gifted women's player I've ever seen in Casey Nogueira.

    Just sayin'

Seconded (though I am admittedly skeptical on how this league will last in the long run). Be great to have a professional women's franchise on both sides of the state.

Agreed. I thought at one time Ongoal had mentioned they wanted to add a WPS team (could be faulty memory) when they had stadium. Could be better to happen in a year or two but would be a good move if the money made sense. They can share a lot of infrastructure with the Wizards.

It was mentioned in the stadium study for the Bannister area.

I was just saying a WPS team would be fantastic .... I don't know if its possible this year with CAB and all but I would love this.

I'm sorry but I dont think a WPS is a good idea. At least until the stadium opens and we establish a good, solid fanbase with attendance averages in the 17-18K range. I dont see us being able to support a WPS team. I think they would be lucky to draw a 1,000 people a game.

Depends on who else they sign, everything up until this signing rumor started had been that they were getting a bunch of kids right out of college. Even their own fans seemed to be a little disappointed with their player prospects before the Ralston thing popped up.

Wow....Ralston leaving NE makes you wonder what is going on up there in Beantown. I am going to be bold and say they finally miss the playoffs this year......:D
