Can we try to keep this one on track...

Hehe... Anyway Freddy's latest tweets have confirmed that he will be ready to go if needed by the weekend. For those who do not know Freddy did not receive his release papers from Benfica in time to play before the cup tie a few days ago.

Yeah, because Freddy threads never reach 500 posts and have to be closed so a new one can start...

It never happens. All those puns will never see the light of day. Lets have of moment of silence for all the puns lost.

I had 10 puns ready for Freddy. I was really hoping at least one would make the new thread title, but unfortunately no pun in 10 did. :(

'Quest'? Mmmmmm......I think, technically, it's a saga until he starts getting regular playing time. But whatever.

Or maybe it should be an oddyssey since we're doin' the whole Greek thing.

It's a quest to get playing time, to find a good fit, and to get back on the Nats.
Maybe if he had gone to Odense it would be a saga. ;)

Come to think of it, Odense was named for Odin, the head god of war among other things (seems like every Norse god was a god of war).

The god of war wanted Freddy one way or another.

Hello from me too our post-Atlantic friends...

I just wanted to give you a bit of info on how Freddy is right now. I happened to sit with him during the matches on Sunday (also with EJ) and on Wednesday and got to talking with him.

First of all my impressions are that he is really a good kid, but it shows that he is really a KID. It doesn't matter how many millions he has, it doesn't matter how much publicity he has and it doesn't matter how much talent he has. He is still a young kid. I believe the press and unfortunately his managers (and agents probably) forgot that he is just a kid who needs SPECIAL treatment. Because i don't care how many times you repeat the phrase "they're proffesional players and get paid handsomely to do their jobs", it will not mean that they will stop being kids. and especially someone with the talent of Adu... i don't know how else to say it... they need special treatment.

I do not believe that he received that in his previous outfits. Hopefully our coach HRC will be able to fan the fires of his talent...

He seemed to enjoy himself a lot, seemed at awe with our fans, he said he liked the city and that soon he will be getting his own place. Generally he looked really upbeat, despite being a bit frustrated about his card not coming in time. On Wednesday he also seemed pretty psyched about Eddie playing, and he was telling me that i should brace myself for Eddie's pace and explosiveness. He was bummed when Eddie lost his balance in that chance he had... :)

Oh... and when i asked him about what position he thought was best suited for him, he told me he believed he performed better in Koke's position, meaning as a Forward. Not striker, a forward, with freedom of movement just outside the area. He realised though that for us the main position he would play would be on the left side. He was told as much from the start.

He seemed really impressed with Tony and Koke as players...

Anyway... his card hopegully will be here by tomorrow and on Sunday he might get some minutes. We will see.

    Thanks!

Hmmm, a kid you say. Imagine that. I think a lot of posters really, really needed to hear that--for different reasons.

Obviously Freddy picked the best club possible for us posters. Where else are we going to get firsthand personal reports like this, and video of untelevised games, etc? Huge success already for us. Hopefully it's just as good for him.

I agree that he's been neglected. He should have been in a youth set-up; if it was good enough for all those Barcelona youngsters it was good enough for him. Guys like Pedro who is older than Freddy but came up to the first team recently, and now Thiago Alcantara and Jonathon Dos Santos, just starting to get some few first team minutes slowly, while at the same time playing a lot for the reserve team.

Hopefully Cuper sees himself as the right man for young Adu, and hopefully he's right.

Wow! Great post above! He does speak truth, as they say they don't make young adults like they used to!

I remember reading an article, saying that kids now a days, their maturity level isnt what it was compared to young adults like 30+ years ago. Like a 21 year old is comparable to how a 26 year old now thinks now, as far as maturity level goes.

I'd believe it, lol I'm 25 and i still party like an animal on the weekends! With that said though, We do need to take it easy on freddy, he is really still just a kid, even though he has been a pro for what 6 years now? He still needs a father figure like coach to help him grow and mature, especially given his past history which i am sure screwed with his head.

With that said, I hope cuper is this guy, that will turn around freddy and be the main reason for his come back like rocky!

    VAMOS ARIS!!!

Adu didn't train today, 'cause he travelled to Portugal to settle some personal issues.

Tomorrow he' ll be back to resume trainings.

But big news! Freddy's card is here! :)

How about "Adu's Saga of ARISson Crabfeathers." If anyone gets this reference they score major rep.

Of course in our day people actually had jobs that paid them enough money to have their own places. Nowadays it's live with the parents or underneath a viaduct.

I motion that this Adu thread now contain less speculation and debate than any past Adu thread in the Yanks Abroad forum. I believe that this motion is strengthened by the 1000% increase in concrete news and firsthand accounts from our new Greek contingent.

    What say you?
