Anyone have them? Sold out yet? Any group action? Might be nice to be around for a new stadium opening. Thx, Jay!
The new stadium won't be open for this game. Its actually at Lincoln Financial (or whatever the fairly new football field in Philly is called).
due to the immence demand from phans in philly they will not be giving ANY away tickets to the home opener... we are shit out of luck
Ahh, well unless they cap sales to create artificial demand (which they would be stupid to do for their opener) I guess ticket availability won't be a problem. Been there, done that. Thx, Jay!
I wish... but last year at Giants, on a wonderful sunday afternoon at 3pm, we were certainly less than 150...
Driving from DC to Philly is roughly 2 hours. DC to East Rutherford (Meadowlands) is roughly 4 hours... of course for me, it'll be 6 hours to Philly.
if the supporters groups could make the bus trips more affordable, more people would go 80 bucks to giants stadium is a joke
80 clams is an all inclusive trip. Bus Game ticket Bathroom with free shots beer...more beer...beer Always a nice theatrical presentation during the trip that merits a Tony award. ~worm~
my post was just in response to the poster who talked about getting 500 or 1,000 fans to the game. i think that the only way you would get anywhere close to that number of traveling fans is if there was a pretty good deal on the trip. maybe throw less money at a tailgate or two to offset the cost. i know we have great fans that love to travel, but its pretty much the same ones due to the cost constraint. just saying
heh I drove myself and it was way cheaper than $160 with 2 people. It's probably way cheaper with car or van that takes more than 2 people. Anyways, yes it's possible to make it cheaper to get higher numbers, I've been harping about it for years.. and I drove few times cos I was pissed at the price Sorry just noticed this is on main board lol
The SEs have run free trips to NJ and still haven't come close to that number. Some people just don't travel for soccer, while others don't have the time, etc. It's not just about money. Personally, I would go on a ton more road trips if I had the time. Cost doesn't really enter into the equation. I bet there are plenty of people in the same boat.
i didnt know that the SEs had done that. thats pretty cool. i think that a similar offer, or even 20 bucks, for the first philly game would provide better results
Philadelphia could be a game changer for us. The bus ride is considerably shorter, making the departure and return times more reasonable. In order to ensure arriving for a RedBulls game, you've got to include into your travel time the actual time to cover the distance and some random stoppage on the NJ Turnpike. And a you won't be leaving the parking lot until sometime around 11PM, meaning a 2AM or later arrival back home. While there'll still be I95 headaches (and the world's stupidest toll in Delaware), the drive times could be attractive to people who've been on the fence for other trips.
I'm hoping to be carpooling with some people or taking a gosh darn Chinatown bus if I have to. I know 2-3 dads in my immediate neighborhood who should be down to go. I'm just curious about ticket pricing.
I think this may be the real answer, other than distance / money. I guess it's not in the people mentality to travel (whether it's far or close) to see their team. Personally, I'd love to take more road trips but the cost is high (too high). Last year I did NY, Columbus, Toronto, this year I am going to try to do better than that - starting with Charleston. Even if that means going a bit less to RFK. I'd love to do KC, Houston, Seattle.
Anyway, last year I drove with another 3 people to Giants, I'd be surprised if we spent more than 20~22 dollars each - excluding ticket matches but including tolls and gas and food
Philly will be my first road trip (other than weekday games at Gillette...but since Boston's where I work during the week, that doesn't count). I hate all Philly teams, so this just is icing on the cake. Wouldn't miss it for anything.
