That can't even be doubted, he really did care. His passion is incredible, and no one can doubt his love for Portugal. Pepe was one of the few positives that came out of this tournament, a big positive at that.

Humm, you were blinded by the colors then weren't you. I think he was better when he was single handling holding down the back 3 of Porto 2 years ago.

    He's missing the world cup.

6 month injury sustained yesterday against valencia, torn knee ligements.

what a massive loss, he was powning Villa, Mata, Banega etc

so many people underrate him its unreal, real madrid fans really worried about this...

Sometimes the recovering time is quicly than the announced one.
Remember Beckham before 2002 WC. I believe Pepe will be there.

i think a broken foot is different than blown knee though. although at least the injury is far enough away from the WC deadline so CQ would know by early May if Pepe has a realistic chance of playing.

Time for Porto to draw with B. Munich and make Lúcio pay.

Wow. Incredible. Is their any news on which ligament it is. If its the ACL he won't be there. If its the mensicus he could be back in 3 months time and get fit for the world cup, he wouldn't lose any speed either once fulling recovered...

Nightmares of Jorge Andrade are surfacing...

No mention in the article what knee ligament was damaged, or from any news outlet whether it be Portuguese or not. If its indeed the ACL he won't make it back in time. Depending if its a full tear or partial tear he might lose athleticism.

I tore my ACL as well, I was out for 6 months before I could even think about running. Even when I did get around 8 months it still felt a little lose and I would pop it every once in a while. Especially in the sand..lol. I only fully recovered a year later(ex: no pain, no more popping).I lost some jumping ability however and mine was only a partial.

Here is the video of where it happened.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlWDVM4W8kE"]YouTube- 12.12.09 FC Valencia-Real Madrid 2-3 All Goals[/ame]

    Fast Forward to minute 1:06.

By the look of what happened, he basically got higher then Villa but Villa's forward momentum pushed him backwards in the air and his body wasn't able to adapt to the landing and turn that Pepe tried to do immediately. It doesn't look too bad, more like a Meniscus tear actually...

But if it is an ACL he won't make it back in time guys...no way.:(

I hope Meira isnt used in the DM position, he is really bad in that position.

Carrico should be the CB, very good in the air as well, and really quick.

    Good tackling/marking.

You are indeed correct in saying it seems like Jorge Andrade all over again:eek:

Meira should be used to replace Pepe, but not in the DM position. Let Mendes or Veloso play in there. Meira should be utilized as a back up to the DM or CB spot.

At least we know Alves will be on the field now, knock on wood. Whats everyone thought on him being capo?

Its a disappointment. The reason being that he was finally growing in that DM role. But in terms of the CB position, its probably our deepest spot on the field along with wingers. Meira will probably get the call up.

Well he was already on the team. No way hes going to be implemented into the DM spot, nor will Alves. Either CQ tries to bring up another DM, and inserts Mendes or Veloso into the starting lineup. Or we replace a CB with a CB.

Why Not? Rolando is very fast, another tower that can score with his head, very mobile and a tough mothaf...

I'd rather see Rolando than Veloso. Mendes is my top pick for DM but vs Ivory Coast, I'd rather see a tough guy in the DM role.

Either one would do fine but I do worry about "tough" DMs. We are a team that does not defend free kicks well.

Rolando is a good CB, makes a few mistakes a game though. But he isn't very good on the ball at all. No where near as good as Carvalho, or Alves or Pepe on the ball. He wouldn't be able to control or distribute the ball with consistency if he did recover it.
