You said it best "THE CONMEBOL OFFICIALS LOVE OF MONEY" apologized? The apology should have came from Sao Paulo and Nacional! Did it? The point was made that Brazil and Uruguay don't give a crap about your money or sponsorships or worst..not wanting to play against you.. That was clear when the Final of the Copa Libertadores was still played despite the greatest risk of swine flu in that region. If concacrap wants to send two teams than let rotate them? how about Honduras and Costa rica in the next Copa America? Let's see if Mexico still backs this up..

you just cant stop,i didnt know sao paulo and nacional represent the whole brazil and uruguay people, this isnt a fight beteween countries YOU DO KNOW THAT ,and the officials of sao paulo and nacional did not protested conmebol apologizing to FMF AND CONMEBOL GIVING 5 SPOTS TO FMF in next libertadores (so much for not wanting to play with us),so in the end all of your officials including the ones of your individual teams love money, the ones in brazil, the ones in uruguay, etc,no one said nothing about the 5 spots given to FMF,SO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM TAKE IT TO THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF EACH ONE OF THE RESPECTIVE FEDERATIONS OF ALL THE COUNTRIES INVOLVED WITH CONMEBOL,we mexicans are innocent angels ;)

I agree, without Mexico the Copa America is just a glorified Gold Cup. With 2 good teams, Brazil, Argentina, and a bunch of minnows.

i agree, the same goes for concacrap they dont do nothing for us either, but us playing conmebol tourneys its not bad for the tourneys, people need to see past the hate some people may feel for us,after all we dont stink at the tourneys we perform well and plus we bring money.

its not like we play for free.
    conmebol es muy bien recompensada.

Without Mexico the Copa America is a true CONMEBOL champsionship, which, top to bottom, is a much, much better competition than the Gold Cup.

Mexico needs to stop crying about how unfair life is and focus on their own confederation. Geography is what it is.

Actually... I meant to say it the other way around, that it would become more mickey mouse if it was hosted by a non-CONMEBOL member, and it's what it is and what has been for 77 years.

maybe they should change the name to copa south america and invite suriname, guyana since they are in south america :D

Nobody can't deny Mexico's results in Copa America always made it to quarterfinals a couple of runner up and third place finish not bad for a smoke and mirror country

It's obviously about money, always follow the money trail. It's the fact that UEFA doesn't want to allow its CONCACAF players (Mexican players) compete both Gold Cup and Copa America. Nicely put to the guy that first posted this and I agree. I hadn't thought about that. With more and more Mexicans playing in European clubs then it's becoming an issue. I think this largely has to do with the rising stars Giovani Dos Santos and Carlos Vela. Eventhough they are still developing in the EPL, they could be starters for their clubs by 2011 which is when the next Gold Cup and Copa America take place. Clubs are greedy with their players and maybe rightfully so if they're paying top dollar or should I say top euro and pound. The clubs refusal to let players from CONMEBOL go and retain CONCACAF players will cause them some unwanted attention and media.

To my understanding, it's CONCACAF's call now, which the decision won't really affect the US because they aren't invited to Copa America 2011. However, I think the US will lobby for denying Mexico to play out of spite and because Mexico will get additional exposure with international competitions. I'd rather have Mexico compete in Copa America rather than the Gold Cup because it's obviously more competitive. I know some CONMEBOL teams don't like us playing in their tournament but hey the invitations keep coming and we keep stacking up with win column. I'd feel bad too if I were beaten by an invitee, but its okay they'll get used to it.

I understand the hate coming from Argentinians, I mean I'd be humiliated too if Mexico keeps rackin up wins against Argentina. Argentina hasn't "regularly" won the Copa America nor have they "regularly" beaten Mexico in Copa America. Funny thing though, Mexico has also beaten Brazil but I NEVER hear the Brazilians complaining about Mexico competing in Copa America, I think they enjoy the challenge.

If I were to have a choice for Mexico to switch from Copa America to the euro cup I would do it in a heart beat. I know that will never happen

Am I in the minority being a CONMEBOL national who doesn't have any problem welcoming our Mexican brothers into our competitions?

Thank you for your sympathy it is much appreciated. I see most of the hatred towards the Mexicans being in Copa Libertadores is from nations that we have beaten before like Uraguay,Peru,Bolivia,Ecuador, with the exception of Argentina seems some Brasilians don't mind Mexicans in their tournament. Lastly I respect Colombian futbol alot both club and national team you guys have a solid squad that can terrify opponents! Falcao is a hell of a player

Plus remember we've beaten you quite a few times recently :D including the Copa America we hosted. But still, regardless of results, Mexican teams improve the overall quality of our tournaments. Add that to the economic benefits and it's a no-brainer.

Latin America should be its own region.

With 20 countries (10 CONMEBOL + 6 Central American + Cuba, Dominican Rep. + Mexico, USA), it would remain one of the Top 2 confederations.
