As someone who throughly enjoyed the USL Live service(especially for free), and who also has enjoyed MLB's "At Bat" app on my iPhone, I think it would be great for the new league to offer a similar app in addition to an online viewing service. I've watched the free live MLB games on my phone and it works great(sucks battery power like crazy but it's smooth video on 3G). The only problem with the MLB app and MLB.tv is that the local blackouts make it borderline useless for me and I imagine a lot of other potential customers, as I don't care about any other team but my own. I'm certainly not paying their subscription fee without being able to see my team.

Yes it was initially designed for people who have moved away from their teams, but having it on the iPhone makes it a very handy service for when you want to watch the game but are on the train, bus, school, or anywhere without a TV.

USL live had no blackouts, and I would imagine a similar NASL service wouldn't either. Having a iPhone app to view games on the go would be an excellent way to promote the new league. Even MLS doesn't have an iPhone app. Plus in venues without video replay boards, fans could review key plays etc. themselves.

And it's a potential revenue stream for the new league. MLB charges $10 for their app, and it's well worth the cost. You get scores, stats, highlights, home and away radio broadcasts, league news, and 2 free live games each day during the season. You have to pay for the MLB.tv service to get all the games(except the local blackouts which blow) though. I think NASL could do well with something similar. Show every game live for free online and charge 10 bucks for the app which would include league news and game stats.

    Thoughts?

    Fantastic!

But maybe you should have emailed someone at the TOA instead of posting it on an open message board.

It should be an Android app instead.

Exactly, just like how developers write software for Windows PCs.
