My name is Rick Umali, and I just finished watching the New England Revolution lose to FC Dallas in MLS action tonight. Feeling generally discouraged. Anyway, I was checking out my e-mails, when I got a reminder for BigSoccer. I forgot I had made an account for this, and I don't believe I've ever introduced myself. Hello all!

Hi, I live in metro Atlanta and I'm newly a big soccer fan. I've been somewhat of a fan of the US national team since 2002, when I discovered the World Cup from South Korea after waking up early by accident. That got me interested in international competition. I watched every match from Germany in 2006. I got even more hooked from that experience. I watched the final in a sports bar, an atmosphere hard to forget. I watched the final in a sports bar, the only time I've ever encountered such an electric atmosphere in a sports bar. I guess my next interaction soccer came with Euro 2008, rushing home to watch it after an afternoon summer class at college. I've paid attention to the World Cup qualifiers for South Africa since after Euro 2008. And finally got hooked on professional sports teams at the end of the season last April/May, mostly due to the Chelsea/Barcelona semifinal and stumbled into on ESPN. I don't really have a favorite team picked out (other than the US and Republic of Ireland national teams). I follow the big European leagues, MLS, Mexican league, and Argentina and Brazilian leagues. I especially pay attention to teams that have Americans on the roster (especially if they get playing time). I also generally root for the smaller teams in the big European leagues.

What's up soccer heads? My name is Ed and I am a young black American from the southern US who loves soccer and supports Arsenal, which makes me some sort of endangered species I think. I live in Dallas and my goal is to find a way to South Africa next summer so that I can cheer on the US and contract a horrible case of laryngitis blowing my vuvuzela.
