Hey guys. Can anyone tell me about Samuel Galindo ? There are roumours here that he will travel to England to discuss move to Wigan Athletic next week after turning down moves to Fiorentina and Spartak Moscow.

Rumours also say that his club has even confirmed he is travelling to speak to Wigan.

How true is this ? And also how good is he ? He has been talked of as a "wonderkid" in the newspapers here. But then again every time a Premiership club signs a young player from abroad they are always described as a "wonderkid" or "the new ......."

We haven't heard about him traveling to England next week yet. He might, but it hasn't yet come up in the Bolivian media. Since the U17 South American tourney ended his movements have been kept very quiet.

His team (real america) owns half of his transfer pass while the other half was bought by an english businessman who is said to be the one responsible for shopping him to european clubs. A deal with Fiorentina was agreed upon back in May, but fell apart in the last minute. It was also mentioned a few months ago that they were in talks with Liverpool as well as other teams in europe.

I frankly don't see how he can get the work permit and I'm not too familiar with the UK appeals process. Considering he's not yet 18 and has not played for the full national team yet, how would this affect the process.

He's a big kid (1.90) but hasn't yet filled in and doesn't know how to play with his body. He plays in the midfield in the classic #10 role and is a leftie. I'd say his vision, passing and technical ability with the ball are his best assets along with his height of course. He's not very fast and his tactical awareness still need improvement. He's raw but it's clear that he has talent and under the right environment could become a very good player.

I just don't see how he'll ge the work permit, or if this is just a rumor. We'll find out more this week.

If players are seen as an "exceptional talent" then they are able to gain a work permit here in the UK. Manchester United did a similar thing with the Serbian, Tosic, when they signed him. He didnt meet the criteria for a work permit, at the time, but they successfully argued that he was an "exceptional talent" and that his age was the only reason he hadnt played the national team games to qualify for a work permit.

Well the short answer is that it wont be easy for him to get the permit. I did some research and this looks like the only way for him to get in the club - This is a quotation directly from the FA's website.

    Panels

Where an application does not meet the published criteria, a club may request a panel to consider the player's skills and experience. In these cases The Football Association will refer the club's evidence to an independent panel.

Where possible the club's supporting evidence will be sent to The Football Association and other football bodies in advance for their consideration in order to allow an informed decision.

The panel will normally consist of representatives from the relevant football governing bodies together with up to three independent experts. The FA will endeavour to ensure there are no conflicts of interest between the independent experts and the applicant club. If the applicant
club wishes to object to the involvement of any of the independent experts it must do so in writing at least 24 hours before the panel hearing, explaining their reasons for the objection.

The panel's terms of reference are:

    - To consider whether the player is of the highest calibre.

    - To consider whether the player is able to contribute significantly to the development of the game at the top level in England.

The panel will make a recommendation to The Football Association whose decision will then be relayed to the club. The details of the voting will not be disclosed. Each member of the panel will provide written reasons for their own decision to the Secretary of the panel. A majority positive vote is required to approve an application (e.g. 4-2, 5-1 or 6-0).

Full terms of reference and roles of the panel members and the club are available to attendees. Clubs should note that, in respect of any application, there will only be one panel available (ie a panel and recommendation, followed by a decision). A club should therefore ensure that all evidence it wishes to present in support of its application is presented to the panel.

Seems like playing in ITaly would be easier for Galindo, unless this "panel" can be compensated for their favorable decision to allow a certain player. I'm not suggesting anything other than the decision made by this panel can be arbitrary which would bode wel for a "wonderkid"

Yea...... I think galindo will have a hard time proving how good he is, even though he was given alot of praise at the last U17 championship.

IMO england isnt the right place for him anyway really to develop, because it is a league that is very fast and physical, and those are the WORST parts of his game.

It would be cool to see another bolivian in the EPL but def. not him, there are others that would be better suited to play there.

Goal is just like Tribal Football. They just publish any old rubbish from any other source. They're just repeating what was in one of the roumours sections of The Mirror newspaper over here in England.

    Yea.... we'll see.

Good point, on having faith on our players, but shit... watching the pace of the EPL and the physicality even has me scared lol! There's a reason why alot of south american players have trouble getting used to the speed, pace, and physicality of their play.

Our country is more slower paced, and touch and go. A player that i think could do well over there, would be abdon reyes, or Nacho' Garcia, because both are very tough.

Annnnnd maybe martins.... our players are meant more for italy and spain, its not a bad thing, its just based on how we play.

I think a move to the EPL(Wigan) for Galindo would be the best thing he can do. His height, technical ability, physicality can only but get better in EPL.

no doubt that in the his future, he will be on the NT. what better than to have a TOUGH, GUTSY, and PHYSICAL "10" type player for our Mid Field. Opponents will always try to double/triple team him just because of his height and passing. they did in U17

of course he would need a little development. more muscle.

His review for a permit might be granted IMO.His style of controlling and passing with his Left Foot. it will be visible if he is tested. Plus there a style that lefties have that can't be reproduced the same way by right footers.

I Hope that this rumor is true...

well the EPl is a god damn great league speed wise since all they like to do is swtich the field and go for the header and the contras but that IMO is galindos weakest point..suprisingly he cant win in the air and cannot beat manhy on 50/50 balls so yea he nees development but with the right training i THINK he can improve

totally agree but i think he would fit better in italy where the majority of the SA players are..i.e. udinese napoli milan

only the true players can play in the EPL tevez, rodallega, caicedo, robinho

    and well haha moreno

I think the rumor is very plausible. My source (again) in the ACF says Galindo has been going to private school full-time to learn english, at one of the best bilingual schools in Santa Cruz. Tuition is over $6K which is a small fortune for him and his family, unless someone is footing the bill.

I hope this is true. He reminds me of Crouch, except with way more field vision and individual talent.

^^Niiiice. Looks like he is determined to play in england. Sounds good.

Hopefully he takes a lesson from many players now a days, and spends hours every other day in the gym building muscle and having love for his body lol

I remember i had a friend who was sort of addicted to body building, and he used to tell me after he stopped, that he would at times stare at himself for hours trying to find 'weak' points for him to work on when in the gym. lol

Lets hope galindo goes this route. haha

I wouldnt say "True"... i'd say quick and strong. All the players you named are either quick or strong, or both. Robinho is blindingly fast, knows how to get the ref to give him those calls, and is very good with his feet. Speed is something that almost eveyr player in the EPL especially in the midfield have to possess.

Galindo doesnt have either lol. But his vision and style would better suit right now argentina, italy, brasil, or spain. I personally would love to see him play in brasil to get him going first playing at one of the best leagues in the world.

Oh yea, and moreno was brought to the EPL because of how quick, young, and how much potential he had. The guy in his prime was the fastest dribbler WITH the ball (at the time, and probably still now if he was in his prime). I think like in 04' he still had the title and beat landon donovan lol.

yea good point..but in most peoples eyes including coaches thats what they look for...speed strength...Galindo clearly needs to work on both...and moreno was fast but his style of game...the conservattive style was and Is still not what the EPl wants...thats all spain and italy

Back then he was a moldable kid, he still had that bolivian blood, but you can tell he learned how to play against rough players back then. He was the first bolivian in the EPL, might still be lol.

But yea, i mean it wouldnt hurt to give it a shot over there, it would be cool to have another bolivian in the EPL, i really wanted martins at Liverpool, but in retrospect it probably wouldnt be his cup of tea.

Galindo needs to go hit the gym, do some upperbody lifting, and just get heavier. He's like pencil thin.

Galindo is extremely talented for his age and attributes. His speed is fine, but he doesn't accelerate very well. But over all speed is pretty good/average once he gets those long legs moving. He's not slow.

What puts this player above everyone else is his vision. He's a classic number 10. His passes and touches are great. Above all else, his dribbling is very good.

Most soccer players that height don't have the dribbling pose he does. That is what seperates him from most players his height. He is extremely confident with the ball

The dude is still a kid. He's extremely skinny and will get pushed around easily by the 200 + lbs players in the premier league. Then again, I thought he would get pushed around in the last tournament he was in (as he was one of the youngest kids in tourney), and he did awsome.

You will like his poise on the ball. He's extremely smooth for a dude that lanky. Vission, passing and touch is "A" class.

Apparently Samuel Galindo has been practicing with the U-15 team that's getting ready for the Sudamericano championships (his younger brother is on the U-15 team).

It says he's with them to regain his game form with the intention of going abroad.

I don't think he's been playing with Real America since the U17 championships ended a few months ago, due to the uncertainty of his future. I could be wrong though.

"El futbolista cruceño Samuel Galindo (sub-20) se entrena con la sub-15 con la finalidad de ponerse en forma con la intención de emigrar al fútbol del exterior.

    Galindo a Inglalerra

they say it like hes on the team already...is he?
